R H. Dallas, TX 4/5/2011 I was told by many friends and neighbors who are clients at East Lake Veterinary Hospital to consider taking our beloved pets to see the amazing staff! I was completely shocked to see that Dr Brittany Bayles-Barton is on staff there. In fact, I was mortified and fearful that others might have their pets in her care when she should have had her license revoked years ago for the grievous act she did to one of our pets. In fact, our dog almost lost her life, and did lose her eye, although she reassured us that it was a simple procedure to remove a cherry eye prior to this nightmare. Truthfully Tens of thousands of dollars later(AT OUR EXPENSE WITH NO COMPENSATION FROM Dr Bayles, and NEVER EVEN AN APOLOGY!) and years of persistent medical issues due to her incompetence, we could not believe she was on staff...however we noticed she was now going by her married name. Dr Bayles refused our repeated phone calls the day of her surgical incompetence, and when I was FINALLY able to reach her after hours(SINCE THIS WAS TO BE A SIMPLE DAY PROCEDURE!) she asked quite cavalier "would we like the good news or bad news first? I could not answer but she did in a rather arrogant tone- The good news is that your dog will live, the bad news is that she will lose her eye. We asked that Dr Rick Hamlin, the senior veterinarian be contacted and we rushed our precious dog to the after hours emergency Opthamologists office who commented that her license should be revoked as a cherry eye rarely requires surgery, and for our dog it would not have.....after another long surgery to try to unsuccessfully save our dogs eye, the Opthamologist was unable to do so, and our dog has endured many serious issues because of this. To date, Dr Bayles(NOW PRACTICING UNDER DR BARTON) has NEVER apologized for her inexperience, incompetence and never offered to pay for any of the many costs involved with our dog.. Although her moral character spoke volumes about never offering any compensation, we had no problem giving our dog, as well as any of our pets the best care at any expense. Her true lack of moral character shone through by never even saying I am sorry. Please if you are a client or know someone who will be going to East Lake, make sure your pets are NEVER in her care.

Ive always taken my dog here for routine annual exams and it wasnt until I had an emergency with my dog that I truly realized how much I took for granted the excellent care my pet and I have always received here on a regular basis. A few months ago my dog ate "something" on a Sunday afternoon and quickly took a sharp turn for the worse and started acting like she was at deaths door in a short matter of time. Of course it was late on a Sunday, my dog never seems to get herself in any trouble 9 to 5 weekdays! Fortunately East Lake doesn’t keep “banker’s hours” and was open as they are 7 days a week. As soon as I took her to East Lake it was clear that everyone on staff had a genuine concern for my dogs well being. I was able to see the doctor immediately when I arrived although I had called en route only a few minutes prior to arriving. The doctor calmly assessed the situation and explained the treatment plan to me very clearly and answered all of my questions. My dog had to stay for a few days but the doctor even kept in touch with me after hours from her personal cell phone to give me constant updates on my dog and her test results as soon as they came in. I felt like all of the doctors and nurses were aware of my dogs situation and genuinely cared for her, they all referred to her by name and knew who I was. I went to visit my dog several times while she was hospitalized, even at 7 or 8 at night, and the empathy and care that the staff showed was evident, I was treated like a guest and never felt like a burden when I know that I was probably a bit overwhelming with my constant questions and probably in everyone’s way while I was visiting my dog in the back. Im happy to report my dog is now happy and healthy thanks to East Lake Veterinary Hospital. East Lake is the best vet in Dallas!! I will always bring my pets to East Lake and highly recommend them to anyone!

Super sweet, helpful not to mention knowledgeable staff here. Ive been a long time fan of ELPO but I didnt discover a deeper appreciation for all they do year round until I found the most perfect chiweenie through their Instagram page and began the whole adoption application process. Although it turned out to be a bit of a waiting game, even then I felt proud of bringing home a pet from a place that was so detailed with their application. I was actually very impressed by some of the questions asked because they force you to put yourself in certain situations one may come across being a pet owner. Although I have purchased all whiskeys food, medicine, most treats and such at ELPO I have never felt pressured into buying things at their place, in fact i once asked about the aloe based shampoo they had on their shelf and told them what I currently used and they were able to look that up quickly and discovered it was a pretty decent shampoo and recommended I keep using it! Score! Im a sucker for honesty! All together I love this place inside and out!! From their fundraising activities which are several throughout the year, to the way they have most adoptable pets in binders with pictures and info as opposed to other places that have them in high-rise style kennels on display in everyones face. Very professional, very kind, overall a happy place! I thank everyone there for all their hard work and especially Dr. Nelson for keeping my Whiskey strong and healthy!!

I love this place as an orphanage...I make a point to donate as often as financially possible. I have adopted from them as well, and appreciate the level of care the animals receive. And although the prices are a bit high, we have been pleased with the level of professionalism and vet care our pets have received. With all that being said, I have to report the following event about grooming at East Lake. We have taken our elderly dog to East Lake for grooming many times. We have always requested the same cut time after time. However, when we took her back for the same cut on 6/15/09, she came back PINK! Not from a dye job, though, but from being SHAVED to the skin! I am mortified that a groomer would even think that a shaved dog is a good look. Our dog now has NO protection against the Texas sun. What were they thinking? We keep our dogs inside while we are at work, but what is her protection when we walk her? I called East Lake and complained about the horrible cut and to their credit, the groomer called and apologized. She said she would give us a compliementary shampoo and cut next time. I will not take that chance with another chance. If you go to East Lake for a grooming...beware, because they obviously dont care how your dog looks when they finish.
