If I could rate this place with less than one star I would. My wife was in the hospital in Winchester Va. and upon discharge they recommended physical rehab. I have never had to put anyone in a place to help with rehab so I thought since my wifes doctors, and records were in Winchester, why not keep everything close for ease. I chose Evergreen. What a mistake! We went in on a Friday and of course Physical therapy was not available that day or the weekend. Which I understood. My wife was able to walk into the center and was coherent, Saturday and Sunday came and went and she became lethargic and wanted to sleep all the time. Monday came and when I got there they told me they had walked her. but she was still lethargic. I asked about her medIcations and was told, oh yes she is getting them. the rest of the week it was like my wife was going backwards. Finally on Friday on the way to work I called and asked if she was getting her breathing treatments. They checked and said yes she is. I hung up and then thought about it for a moment and realized that there was no nebulizer in her room and even if they did bring one in each time she needed her breathing treatment, they would have left the mask and hose. There was none in her room all week. Mysteriously, when I got there on Friday evening a nebulizer was setting on her nightstand. But my wife was in the bed head down, eyes closed, and out of it mentally. The nebulizer was running and the bowl was bone dry. I sat with her till almost 9:00 PM and then left. Thank God for Chloe (a nurse that saw her when she went in) because on Saturday morning she called me at work and said there is something wrong we are sending her back to the Emergency room. I drove from Frederick Maryland to Winchester Va. ( about an hour trip ) and got there 20 minutes before the ambulance got there. (keep in mind its less than 10 minutes from the nursing home to the hospital). They readmitted my wife with the same problem she had when she went to the hospital the first time. I called and complained to lady in charge at Evergreen and after explaining what had happened, she asked if she could have 24 hours to find out what had happened. I told her yes, the next day a man called me and asked me what the problem was. That really upset me because I had already explained everything to the lady the day before. Anyway I told him what I thought and probably wasnt too nice about it but at that point I didnt care. The stay in Evergreen set my wife back at least a week if not more. I will never refer anyone there, I tell everyone I meet about the experience and will continue to do so. If you have someone that you love and care about, DO NOT PUT THEM IN EVERGREEN. (Side note) Chloe, if you read this THANK YOU for your patience and your professionalism, if it werent for you I think I could have lost her. You can do so so much better.

It was not until I left the facility that I learned that their Medical Director had his Medical Licence revoked or suspended in at least four states and had been asked to leave several hospitals. My daughter was very upset that she selected that facility to send me to. I would check to see who is the present medical director. The one who had the suspensions was Dr. Lewis Rogatnick a reference to The Virginia Board of Professional Licensure, License search will show his past open to public record to all, so you can decide if you want your loved ones to be under his care.

I was looking for an assisted living facility in the Winchester area and have called Evergreen and left messages on Feb 11, Feb 13, and Feb 16 and no one has ever returned my call. I sure would not consider putting my father here if they wont even return your calls when you are trying to give them business. Wonder what it would be like if I had put him here and had problems and needed to speak with someone.

My father was there for 3 days before he got a bath or even a gown change. There has been no PT or OT. They barely walk him down the hall and that is not enough to get him stronger. Very disappointed. I cant even call him as no one answers the phones there.

My mother had to go here because of a surgery and when they released her the nurses wouldnt even care for her wound before she came home, if they dont want to care for patients they need to find another job.
