Last year I had my Primary Care visit with Allison Smith. I would highly recommend her. She takes her profession seriously and with compassion. This year however, I saw doctor Kristin Smoker, I saw her for one visit and fully expected that as my Primary Care Physician, as a Physicians Assistant she would take a patients interest seriously as well. I occasionally get terrible migraine headaches that are controlled easily with the off label use of a non controlled medication. There would be no risk to me by prescribing this medication. The very worst that could happen is that it wouldnt cure my headache. At that point it would become necessary to come in for an office visit or referred to a specialist. At the very least I should have at least received a call back by a physician. I had released my HIPAA documents. I had a dx given to me after a long process by a physician a few years ago. I am a nurse myself. I felt as though she simply wanted me to come in for unnecessary office visits. My feeling is that I would not recommend Dr. Kristin to be a primary care physician. She does not take enough of a personal interest in a patients well being to be a health care professional. She wants to make you come in for additional appointments. Some physicians care about their patients. I felt that Dr. Kristin is not a good choice for a Primary Care Physician. She appears to lack the compassion and experience that is a necessity. I do wonder if this is because of financial concerns. It is a question to indeed ask about this clinic. Very few clinics have such an exceptionally low rating. It has too many similar complaints. I feel that it is necessary to file a complaint. I called to complain to their staff. The only interest they appeared to have was to protect their own interests. At CVS, a pharmacy staff person said that there simply were too many complaints about this practice to ever recommend it. They charge very high prices and simply fail to provide the minimum standard amount of service to be a viable health care provider. It needs to be put in to law to enforce a minimum standard for a health care provider that advertises to be a "Primary Care Provider". I will be filing formal complaints for this reason. This clinics service is abysmal. This includes provisions that are in accordance to "The Affordable Health Care Act" provisions.

Absolutely horrible! The wait time for phone calls and appointments usually runs 30-60 minutes. The staff is rude, and uneducated. And the doctors are too busy to answer questions. I was told I HAD to have my Well Woman Exam (Pap Smear) in the office, too, or I would "lose it". Lies. Most PCPs do not do Paps in their office, as it is a Specialty, and they are General Medicine. But I went ahead and had it done, because well it had to be done. I later confirmed with my insurance that what they told me was more lies. and I even tried to contact the office about why they are telling women this, and failed to get any response. I also know for a fact that they are still telling people that. Luckily, I have been able to warn my friends away from the office. After waiting an hour, to be seen, my doctor performed my Pap and nothing else. I had to run down the nurse to get the mandatory blood test required by my insurance. But I wanted other tests done, too. I wanted ROUTINE bloodwork because it had been so long. She refused and absolutely no analysis of my lifestyle, concerns, or actual physical was performed. After seeing the list of tests a coworker had received, I called back several times, again asking for anything routine. See, the doctors have to have a diagnosis to request lab work, and well, "routine" is a diagnosis code. That is what my coworkers diagnosis was. But my doctor put random, vague diagnoses, like "fatigue" for the exact same tests. I am also looking into reporting this office for insurance fraud.

Stopped going here due to gross incompetence on the part of the doctor. Was miss diagnosed for back pain, Dr. Heitzig kept prescribing all sorts of pain killers. Nothing worked. Took an X-ray to see what was wrong, Dr. Heitzig told me that I had a slight curve in my back from carrying a bookbag on my back. He then told me that if I had continued to see him for this pain that we would be looking at putting a rod in my spine. I was only 23 at the time. I said forget that and I went to a chiropractor. Chiropractor showed me the x-rays and Im not trained to read x-rays nor am I familiar with the human body on a medical level. My spine had a twist in it, a corkscrew, in the x-ray. So much for a slight curve in the back. I told my husband to not go and see Dr. Heitzig, and of course he did. I told him that all Heitzig does is prescribe drugs. My husband walked into the office, requested Cyclobenzaprine, Heitzig wrote it no questions asked. Husband came home and said here ya go for your back. My husband doesnt take muscle relaxers. Terrible ethics.

Do NOT use this facility for travel immunizations!!! Health insurance does not cover the cost of travel imm. (nor should it), but pay your primary care doctor to give you your shots! This travel doctor pushes products and when you refuse them, gets mad. We were prepared with information about malaria medications, and when he mentioned only one medication, and we questioned him, he got mad at that, too. He wanted to prescribe the most expensive malaria medication rather than a quite effective and quite cheap alternative. When we wanted that Rx anyway, he warned us of dire consequences. Aside from a yellow fever vaccine, we could have received everything through our primary care doctor, and I wish we had paid them and our health insurance co. rather than the exorbitant fees he charged. Do your research, and have your own doctor secure the Rxs and vaccines for you. You shouldnt have to be bullied AND pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

Im not sure what the negative reviews are.. i been going here for many many many years, i think since we moved to Frederick 8 yrs ago. Ive seen Dr Hertzeig, Lee, and a few others but i mainly see Kristin Hand. SUPER patient, willing to say "im not sure, lemme research"... and gives me time (yes, im a talker and asks questions). The front desk CAN appear kurt at times, but its a dr office with germs, bitchy patients over stupid stuff, and trying to deal with it all. I think they are understaffed up front. ANd someone said "its always a 30-60 min wait on the phone or in person".... Well, they must be going on the off understaffed days, ive never waited more than 4 min on the phone and maybe 15 min at the office in ALL those years.. Ive never had an issue, EVER with them.

I had food poisoning and called in to talk to my nurse but the receptionist kept trying to schedule me an appointment. They did have emergency appointments available within 3 hours but I had to travel for work so I wasnt able to make it in. However I received a voicemail an hour or so later from my nurse giving me tips and direction because she had heard that I called. She even followed up later in the day to make sure I was still doing okay and to answer all of my questions. Ive never had a practice follow up like that in the past and I really appreciated it! Im really glad I chose FPC when I moved to the area, theyve been great!
