Dr. Michael Petrizzi gets 5* ....he spends abundant time with his patients and is very thorough, pleasant and professional. I also have not been treated disrespectfully or rudely by front office personnel as some have written. Nursing and lab personnel have also been excellent .....However if wait time is important to you .... I can only give 1* ... I have never been seen within 1 hour of my appointment time but I usually feel the wait for Dr. Petrizzi is worth it.... Today however, I arrived at 830 without an appointment needing to utilize their "sick hours" as most PC facilities keep some availability especially this time of year. I was told there was no availability but was "squeezed" in at 215. What is frustrating is that another gentleman who arrived after me but was not on the schedule and happened to "forget" his appointment card was fit in at 845. I pointed this out to the receptionist helping me but only got a deer in the headlight response and a half hearted apology. Personally, sick hour availability is the most important type of appointments to have on hand because people obviously need to be seen when in acute distress. Again 5* to Doctors and staff but 1* for wait time and sick time availability.

I work in healthcare, so I understand there are situations in which a medical office can be busy, etc, but this facility is by far one of the worst practices Ive ever had to deal with. The list is endless...horrendous wait times in the waiting room...I once waited and hour and a half, with absolutely no communication from the office staff....none. A little communication and customer service goes a long way with me They then tried to charge me my co-pay. I left without seeing a soul. Im a busy mother (who took off work to get this appointment) and had to pick up my kids. NEVER have I called this office and there not been at least five people in "que" in the automated phone system. Wait times on the phone have easily exceeded 20 minutes....who in the world has time for that?? Three providers Ive seen in the past three years have left...speaks volumes. I too, as a patient, will be finding another practice as seeing these particular practioners was the only reason I continued with this practice as long as I did.

My son waited over 3 hours with children.to see Dr. Michael Petrizzi. He had to take off work. He was very sick, was there to find out what was wrong. Others came and went the office closed all but the Dr.Michael P. left so he told all the problems he was having, this was supposed to be a physical. Had to return again taking off from work to get labs taken. The Dr. Sat on my sons lab work that clearly showed my son was in grave condition. Had to make another appointment just to have Dr. give him the results. A precious 2 weeks of life saving time passed was told dont worry just make an appointment with a VCU Kidney Dr. My son was rushed to ER. Less than 2 days later where he died after a week on life support.I know my 31 year old son father of 2 daughters would still be alive if only the Hanover Family Practice cared more for my dear son than the money they got from the repeated visits. I dont recommend this place if you love your family. Please share. P. Flynn

We have been patients at Hanover Family Physician and their other branch Atlee Family Physicians for 15 years... but have now changed to another practice. The doctors at Hanover Family has been great, when we can get in to see them. However, the reception and appointment staff are the pits. Horrible demeanor on the phone or in person, grumpy attitude, just seemingly lacking any customer focus or maybe just been doing the job a few decades too long. Just rude and rarely return phone calls in a timely manner. To us it seems that they really do not seem to care that they are rude. Oh well. We finally said bye bye.

Worst patient care ever. No one EVER calls back. Worst office manager. Total disregard for patients. Got dismissed from the practice for prescription and lack of communication, hard to communicate with an office when no-one ever returns your phone calls. Disgusted with this place. No wonder they have such a crappy rating. The doctors are fairly ok but the office manager sucks. I worked here for a very short time and I hated it because of the lack of care for patients and the office manager is lazy. Happy Im not there anymore honestly. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!

Been with this practice for a while but I think its time to move on. Ive been through 3 doctors in a 2 year time span because none of them stay. Also if you know important documents are time sensitive I should not have to call and leave a message several times (and not get a call back from you after several days I might add) to get them faxed to the appropriate place. I had to take off time from work to drive all the way to the office and fax my papers myself. I understand that you may be a little busy but it only takes a minute to fax...Not ok.

Everytime I call, Im waiting at least 30 mins to get through to the receptionist. I called one time and I was first in line, waited 20 mins before I hung up and called the doctors line, ofcourse got someone immediately. Then I was told the recepionist probably had turned off the volume on the call line, so she didnt know I was calling. I called all day on and off today and finally was imformed that my doctor wasnt there all week! This is ridiculous service for a doctors office. Its unprofessional and my family will be finding a new doctor.

Dr. Mike Petrizzi has been my PCP for over 20 years and as someone who works in the medical field I have to commend him on his intelligence, bedside manner, and his skill has a physician. The only gripe I have with the office is the ridiculously long wait times experienced. We joke that a "short" appointment lasts less than two hours. As for his front desk staff, I have never had a problem with them, but I do agree that their phone tree could be better designed.

Very positive experience! It did take a while to get through on the phone. However, the full waiting area moved quickly, the staff was courteous, professional and efficient. Very good service from the moment I walked through the door. This was my first time at this office and I almost did not go based on previous reviews. Im glad I took the chance.

My primary care physician is Dr Micah Houghton. Very academic and up to date on the scientific literature and latest methods. Care has been excellent. I trained at the Mayo Clinic and have no complaints about care. Front desk staff would benefit from a crash course in customer service. I would recommend this practice to anyone - very, very good.

The doctor B. never bothered to write the paperwork for the ultrasound he said he was going to after calling other doctors lazy and his nurse never called back after I left a message on the voice service. The wait was well over an hour and a half. I couldnt schedule with a NP either. This place has gone downhill.

Always a long wait time and combative front desk staff (instead of apologizing for running an hour behind, they push back on the patients). The Docs do seem great, but obviously they must know whats going on out front, so the fact that nothing has changed for years says all you need to know.
