This practice seems to be suffering from growing pains. Ive been a customer of Thomas Eye Group for the past 7-8 years, but the decline of customer service over the past 2 years has me shopping for a new doctor. Despite what appears to be an abundance of staff, I can never get a live person when I call. Leaving a message with the contact lens desk yesterday, I was told to expect a call-back within 48 hours. Really? Thats the best you can do? I have had similar experience when calling to set up an appointment or to change an appointment. Another issue that is frustrating: they really seem to want to steer you towards ordering your contact/eyeglasses from them... to the point of making it difficult to get a copy of your prescription. After calling and being unable to talk with someone to order my contacts by phone, I stopped by the office today on my lunch hour. I intended to order them in person, or to get a copy of my prescription so that I could buy contacts somewhere else. The polite receptionist told me that the one clerk they have that handles contacts was at lunch until 1:30, and that there was no-one else in the office that was authorized to print out my prescription! Of all the doctors, technicians, cashiers, etc. that they have there on staff -- not one person other than the "contacts" salesperson is able to give me a printout of my prescription? Come on. She said she was just following "protocol," but this policy was not in effect the last time I needed a copy of a prescription. On the plus side, Thomas Eye has recently completed a very nice remodeling of their Roswell offices. Its just a shame that the quality of customer service has not kept up with the upgrades to the facilities.

What a poor customer service. When they made mistakes about my son having Myopia and two years later having 20/20 vision, I was suspicious. However, silly me, I kept trusting my family to them. My husband went to check for changes in his prescription. Apparently he had improved in both eyes according to the new exam. Well, not true. We went to have his glasses done at Costco and the technician there showed us the difference in the prescription. My husband could see fine with his old glasses but it was awful with the new prescription. Thankfully, the professional at Costco could show the discrepancy; otherwise the glasses would have resulted wrong. So we started our two hours ordeal to call Thomas Eyes at their Roswell office to fax over the correct prescription. I called 5 times. All times complaining that the previous time they transferred the call to a voicemail. Their answer? oh, Im sorry, let me transfer you to someone else...minutes later: another voicemail. All that occurred five times after several minutes waiting during each call. After two hours of them playing mouse and cat transferring the phone calls to different voicemails, they closed for the day. Nobody could take ownership to resolve their mistake knowing I had called previous times (few names that I wrote: Tami, Susan, Diana). Awful Very terrible experience, not recommended at all.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I called to schedule an eye exam with an Ophthalmologist... They scheduled it with an Optometrist (Dr. Nohra). She rushed through the exam and was very pushy to get LASIK done. Her prescription was off by -1.25. I had to wait 2 hours on a confirmed appointment to get this piss poor service. I walked into a Walmart two weeks later and got an accurate prescription within 30 mins. To add insult to the injury, BCBS denied the claim because the service was not performed by an Ophthalmologist (Although I asked for one when I booked the appointment) . One month later, I receive a bill from Thomas Eye for $165. Glenda (works in accounting) could care less that the Insurance company denied the claim and I had to get the test retaken. THOMAS EYE - Get your act together. If this is your specialty, act like it. How can you keep an optometrist on staff who doesnt know what shes doing? Check her healthgrades score. Advice to prospective customers... If youre looking for regular eye exam.. just go to the Walmart on Mansell. Fast, Accurate Service at half the price.

I highly recommend Thomas Eye Group. I went to Thomas Eye Group when I was in an accident and had to have my cornea removed. When I arrived at the office, I was in significant pain, couldnt open my eye and was extremely worried. When I arrived, the nurse came out immediately and started caring for me. The nurses and Dr. Newman were very committed to my recovery and were extremely patient with me and went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable with my treatment plan. I felt I could call anytime I had problem (and did) and Dr. Newman was extremely determined to see me heal perfectly. It was a process and the team at Thomas Eye Group went above and beyond for me and I can say I am fully recovered. I will always be a patient of Thomas Eye Group.

Ive been a patient of Dr. Larry Heits for almost 3 years. After having cataract surgery done my vision was restored to 20/25. Now I only need over the counter reading glasses to see things close up. Last month I had an issue and Dr. Heit was able to see me the same day as called. Now 12 days later the issue has been resolved. The customer service was excellent. Checked in at kiosk and was called back within 5 minutes of appointment time. Technician was friendly and helpful. There was a slight delay seeing Dr. Heit, but I was in and out of the appointment within 45 minutes. Things seem to move a lot smoother since the renovations were completed. I would recommend this office for vision care for anyone in the area that needed it.

Dr Lipsky is very nice but I was charged for a new patient visit after my son had been there 4 time previous, when I called they said since it had been more than 6 mo between visits (it was 7 months) that was the rate. When I called billing lady would speak to the doctor and she called back and said Dr. Lipsky was unwilling to adjust the bill. Then 1 year later I get ANOTHER bill for additional $36, they rebilled my insurance company AGAIN for a higher amount! I went back and forth for months (principle now) to now avail. I just paid the bill. I hope this negative review and loss of a long term patient was worth $100 Dr. Lipsky! (please note this is the 1st negative review I have ever made!)

I started seeing floaters in my right eye on a Sunday night. When I called the Thomas Eye Group at 7:00 Monday morning, they told me to come right away. By 8:00 I had been diagnosed with a torn retina. They quickly sent me to the surgery center in Dunwoody, where I had laser surgery to correct the tear. I was home by noon. After two weeks, the vision in my right eye was perfect. I was so impressed with the quick response I got from each person at the Thomas Eye Group. I know of several people who have suffered for a long time with their vision after a torn retina. I couldnt be more delighted with the response and care I received. I would highly recommend the Thomas Eye Group.
