One star is an understatement. My mother purchased a Groupon for an exam and regular cleaning for $40.00. I went for my first appointment several months ago and was told I needed a deeper cleaning. I confirmed with the dental hygienist and front desk that the cost would only be $170 and I would not be charged extra since the regular cleaning was not done and would be done as a follow up to the semi debridement. I then decided to go through with the debridement. Months later I went in and had the debridement and confirmed with front desk that I did not owe anything after the procedure. Shortly thereafter, I had the regular cleaning and again confirmed that nothing was owed on my part. However, months later in April, I received a due balance notice from First Family Dental. I was puzzled so I decided to give them a call to see what may have happened. I was transferred to a Kathy C, whom claimed to be the manager and well, it was downhill from there. Kathys reasoning for not removing the charges off of the bill was that she could not verify with anyone and the former employees that said I wouldnt be charged were no longer there. She offered to remove $50.00 as a courtesy; however, I was still extremely upset. Had someone advised me from the beginning that I would be charged extra, I would have already known and paid for it. Kathy C also never edited the bill and I am now receiving late notices with late fees. I called Kathy again today inquiring as to why she never removed the $50.00 Kathy blatantly lied on the phone stating that she never agreed to this. Now this grossly unprofessional dental provider is threatening me with collection notices for their failure to comply with their own agreements. I am a 23 year old paralegal who has never had a collection notice or has ever made a negative review but this has now changed because of the unprofessionalism and shadiness of this dental practice. Unfortunately, I am canceling my September 2017 appointment and never returning to this dental practice/provider location again.

On my first visit, I saw Dr. Sheynman for a check up and a cleaning. The staff was friendly and Dr. Sheynaman was very thorough. She explained future work that I needed and referred me to an endodontist for a root canal. She was very professional yet had a comforting and down to earth demeanor. The only complaint that I had on this visit was that I did not get a goodie bag. My husband had an appointment for a check up and a cleaning earlier the same day but had come home with several toothpaste samples in a goodie bag. On my second visit, I returned for a crown procedure after having a root canal at a specialist. I expected my appointment to last 60 to 90 minutes but it took 3+ hours. I did not know the depth of the procedure, however, I was pleased with the services from all of the staff. I was able to watch WGN News, two Maury episodes and Tyra while being worked on. Thank goodness for the TV! What really impressed me was the phone call I got later that day from Dr. Sheynman to see how I was doing because I had spent such a long time in the chair. I would definitely recommend 1st Family Dental of Logan Square to anyone looking for a dentist.

Logan Square 1st Family Dental ROCKS! Dr. Irene Renieris is an amazingly compassionate & patient Dentist. I am a Chicago actor; so yes, I smoke cigarettes & drink black tea laced with chocolate. Needless to say my pearly whites get dingy & stained quickly. Several years ago, my casting agent threw me out of her office when I showed up to a commercial callback audition with, shall we say less than a Colgate smile. Luckily, I found Dr. Irene & she fit me into her already booked Saturday morning schedule; sand blasted the stains off my teeth with enough time for me to return to my agent’s studio that afternoon!! I now have my stains removed every 4 to 6 weeks (that’s right WEEKS; oh vanity-VANITY!) by one of the talented staff @ 1st Family. Dr. Irene always makes sure my oral health looks good & she has designed a strategy for me on a molar that will, at some point, need to be capped. You won’t find this type of Knowledgeable Medical Hospitality at many other Chicagoland Dentists. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I just finished my very first appointment here. When I walked in, I was immediately seeing kids everywhere which Im definitely not a big fan of kids in general, but it was a Saturday. I had to fill out a few new patient forms and was called back pretty much on time. The experience was way pleasant and the Dentist I saw was great. I feel like I got a good cleaning and walked out happy. I was told I dont have any cavities and Ive been scammed before by Dentists wanting to charge me or my insurance company for unnecessary add ons. The location was definitely tailored to treat mainly children. There are kid paintings and the walls were full of Disney characters. I could hear the sounds of children screaming (not from torture, but misbehaving). If you dont like kids, stay out. If you do want an honest, good, quick service--I highly recommend.

Although I love the dingy scenery of Milwaukee Ave. in Logan Square, I like to keep the decay in the urban landscape and away from my teeth. First Family Dental is a good choice for anyone needing their tuskery polished without having to risk entering one of the many questionably credentialed — and usually wood paneled — dentists offices in the neighborhood. The friendly multilingual staff also will call, and call, and call you to come in for your 6-month cleaning. Which, for me, isnt bad because I forget stuff and my insurance covers the visits. Aside from the dorky quasi-Oakley sunglasses they make you wear in the chair and the occasional Fox News on the TV, getting a First-Family Dental teeth cleaning is about as pleasant as a non-nitrous-oxide, dry-vac and soundwave scrape can be. PS: They also seem to have good social media promotions.

If i could give zero stars I would. I came in for my first session to get my cavities filled ( top and bottom on the left side of my mouth) My dentist (Dr. Marina Karnaukh) told me during my appointment that she would not be able to finish my fillings (without a reason) so I ended up getting my bottom side done only. She had to give me three numbing shots because the anesthesia was not powerful enough. After the filling I took a look at my teeth and immediately noticed she completely disregarded a small cavity. My second appointment, I showed up an hour early only to be turned away because their system was down and was told they would call me to reschedule. This is by far THE WORST facility to get any dental work done. I am very dissatisfied and regret getting my cavities filled. I will not be returning to this place. Getting my refund ASAP

Scam. Incompetent amateurs. If you know your skillset is limited to dental cleanings, dont accept appointments for wisdom extraction. Paid $50 and wasted 2 hours to be told "Oh, I cant do that" when I was very clear what my situation was beforehand. All they were interested in was talking me into deep cleanings. Insisting I needed oral surgery. Walked out went straight to Full Smile Family Dentistry and had both wisdoms out within the hour for a fraction of what Id have been charged if following their so called referral. More like a racket. If you need ANYTHING more than a cleaning stay away from 1st family, they simply dont know how to handle anything more. Absolutely horrid.
