What Dr. Stiso did for me, surgery could never have done! I had been experiencing neck and shoulder pain for about a year and the pain was gradually getting worse. Eventually, the pain was so intense I couldn’t even lift my arm to put on my jacket to go to work in the morning. This was a debilitating blow for me as I had performed a daily weight training routine for years but now found myself unable to perform the simplest task. I made an appointment with my family medical doctor who prescribed a few different types of pain killers, all of which were ineffective. I was then referred to an orthopedic surgeon. I was examined, X-rays were taken and even sent for an MRI. The surgeon told me a vertebrae in my neck was becoming arthritic and the discs were deteriorating. I was told I needed surgery and that there was no other alternative. Not wanting to go that route, I began researching other means of treatment for my condition. The surgeon agreed to try a cortisone injection to see if that would help with the pain. Not fully understanding what a cortisone shot was or how it worked I agreed to the procedure. At first he was amazed. The pain was completely gone and I felt like his old self again. But within just 3 weeks my neck and shoulder pain was back and worse than ever. I was told that cortisone doesn’t “fix” the cause of the problem, it just cover up the pain and is only temporary. And since cortisone is a lethal substance, it could not be administered repeatedly. Determined to avoid surgery I began asking his friends and family for advise. At a birthday party in Pt. Pleasant I struck up a conversation with my brother-in-law. We discussed my condition in great detail. My brother-in-law asked me if I had seen a chiropractor. I said no, that it didn’t even occur to me because the pain was more in the shoulder than in the neck. To my surprise, my brother-in-law had the same exact problem a few years earlier, saw a chiropractor, and was now pain free. He told me that it took time and commitment, but the results were amazing. On my brother-in-law’s advice I decided to give chiropractic a try. I called Dr. Stiso and made an appointment. Dr. Stiso examined me, reviewed my X-rays, and MRI results and I was immediately accepted as a patient. Dr. Stiso explained that there was a great deal of disc deterioration within the cervical spine, however it was not beyond repair. It was explained that treatment would be very aggressive for the first few months. Since the condition was so advanced frequent visits would be necessary in order to make an improvement. We needed to get to the root of the problem and not just cover up the symptoms. Within 6 months I had my life back. I was virtually pain free and back to my normal exercise routine. Giving Chiropractic a try first, I understood I had nothing to lose. If the Chiropractic treatment was unsuccessful I could always opt for the surgery later. However, if I had the surgery first, and it was unsuccessful, it would have been too late for chiropractic treatment to be effective. I would have had to simply live with the pain for the rest of his life. But thanks to Dr. Stiso I was able to cancel my surgery and get my life back!

There is a feeling of well-being as soon as you walk into Dr. Stisos office. Everthing is clean and fresh, and Ashley the receptionist is kind and welcoming. Katie was very helpful and informative as she set up the appointment. She does acupuncture, which I havent yet tried, but I hope to I the future. Dr. Stiso is very knowledgeable and the best part is that he explains things to the patient, which not all doctors take the time to do. I had a massage with Charles, who is very good, and who has a solid knowledge of the human body and how it works. I am thoroughly impressed with Dr. Stiso and his very competent staff and I am looking forward to feeling better soon!

I was always too apprehensive to go to a chiropractor. I heard they are painful, I heard they only help for a little while after the appointment. I heard wrong.
