Dr. SHULTZ SHOULD NOT BE IN PRACTICE. I am in college majoring in medical management and I used my experience at this dermatology clinic as what is NOT quality service. Now I am going to go to another dermatologist so I can have the large scar removed that Dr. Shultz inflicted. The following is my assignment I turned in. A few months back I went to a new dermatologist. Arriving at the office I noticed the entire waiting room was packed and with only two doctors in the practice I was surprised. It wasn’t a large waiting room, but had about 16 chairs most of which were filled and this made the entire area feel cramped. However, I was soon called and the exam room itself was very pretty, spotless, and welcoming. A nurse came in and we quickly discussed my topics of concern. When the doctor came in she was very abrupt, barely listened to what I had to say about my past dermatology problems and medications, and went so far to consistently interrupt me to shout out various medications to the nurse. In the middle of her talking to the nurse I did get a word in that I wanted her to check a mole on my shoulder. She believed it to be harmless but said they would take it off anyway. They didn’t even ask me if I wanted it taken off that day and the nurse immediately numbed my arm without my consent. I didn’t speak up because I figured if I was all ready numb might as well have it taken care of. The doctor took the mole off and chose to cauterize it because she “didn’t want to be bothered over the holiday”. Perhaps this is normal with cauterization, but I could see black areas where she had burned my skin. I was then pointed to the door back to the waiting room where a lady handed me six different prescriptions and papers on what they were for. By the time I got back outside I felt like I had been put through some kind of dermatology appointment machine. I realized why the waiting room was so packed, due to their speedy and impersonal appointments. I had spent only about 15 minutes in the entire building and while I suppose it was nice to be done, I did not feel like I received quality care at all. I was unable to fully discuss my concerns with the doctor, had a procedure without my consent, and I found out later they had forgotten to give me the one prescription I had actually asked for and they had to mail it to me. Furthermore, the wound where the mole was removed took weeks to heal and now is a large, discolored keloid scar. I personally believe had she used stitches instead of cauterization my arm would have healed much faster and not have as large of a scar. In my opinion, quality healthcare would have been the opposite of everything that happened, except the spotless room. However, this experience has helped me in knowing what not to implement as a manager and reinforces the fact that quality of healthcare as well as the doctor who administers it is crucial to any practice.

Do Not Go Here! I was taking my daughter to see Dr. Schulz and when we walked in the entire waiting area was absolutely filthy! To top it off the restroom doors were wide open and both restrooms were nasty! We signed in and were going to sit down but the chairs that were available all had gross stuff on them, one chair had baby poop, one chair had spit, one chair had something that looked like peanut butter and honey. I could go on but we would be here all day it was that gross! We got lost on our way there and I called to let them know and the front desk receptionist said no problem to come on in, she was polite. After signing in and standing for 25 minutes the front desk receptionist called me up there and said that Dr. Schulz just left and we need to reschedule. She then proceeded to advise me of the 15 minute late policy which would be fine if I was 15 minutes late! I was exactly 7 minutes late and I did call! Its not my fault that the receptionist was busy doing other things instead of checking us in till 25 minutes after our arrival. I remained polite to the front office staff and we left. Outside there was another mother with her daughter that just left from seeing Dr. Schulz and her daughter was crying. I started chatting with the other mother and she said the Dr was rude, barely listened to her daughters concerns and totally embarressed her daughter, she also said not only was the waiting area dirty but the rooms were as well. They are never returning and neither am I! Before you go please look into another facility! This is NOT the place for children and NOT the place for people that like their Doctor offices clean and sanitary. This place was DISGUSTING! It was so bad that I had to write a review, this is my first review ever, thats how strongly I feel about not recommending this facility! Thank you for taking the time to read my review. Sincerely, Brooke

I went into family dermatology to get a mole checked out. I requested a female doctor and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shultz. I ended up getting a different mole removed the same day I came in for my appointment. I felt rushed into getting it removed... but I figured it was better than making an extra trip out there a week later. Big mistake. I went back ten days later to get my stitches removed and the nurse suspected an infection. Her and Dr. Shultz squeezed the area to see if any puss would appear. Nothing happened, but they discovered the wound wasnt fully closed after the stitches were removed. They put some medical strips over the wound and told me to be careful as to not split it and to leave the strips on for a week or so. I felt uneasy about it, but the stitches were already removed. Too late. A few days later I noticed that the wound felt hot to the touch and a rash suddenly appeared (about 4 inches in diameter). I was scared and was immediately seen the next morning. The tape was removed and a disaster was revealed below. My skin was rotting. I came down with cellulitis. I believe that comes from a dirty medical tool. Or it could have been an allergic reaction from the tape. My wound ended up splitting open. It looked disgusting. Ive been back twice since then, to get it checked on. Of course, free of charge. I was told it would take at least one month to heal. I was prescribed a topical cream (to kill the bacteria) and an oral prescription as well. The scar today does not look too good. I still have to cover it with a band aid. Its about the size of a nickel, if not bigger. It is very uneven in color, and black in parts where the infection was the worse. This was my experience, I can see others were better. I suppose I was the unlucky one.

My name is Shane G and I just had to write a personal experience about Family Dermatology based on before Dr Flynn even started Family Dermatology and was with another firm. My family was one of his very first customers. Since then I have recommended MANY other family and friends to see Dr. Flynn. He has always went above and beyond with me. I have had several procedures with many pre-cancerous moles being removed. He has always taken the time that I needed to feel comfortable with the treatment and his explanation. On one occasion one of my best friends called me in a panic since his wife was in terrible pain with a skin issue and couldnt get into her own dermatologist for 2 weeks even though it was an emergency. All I had to do is send a message to Dr Flynn and he arranged to see her that afternoon. Needless to say they switched doctors to Family Dermatology. Then as recent as this week right before I was to head on a business trip I broke out all over my back in a rash and in a panic was going to cancel my trip and my wife said - "WHY DONT YOU TAKE A PICTURE AND SEND TO DR FLYNN". So I did and within 15 minutes he responded and took care of me. BOTTOM LINE... I have had so many terrible experiences with Dermatologists over the years, and what a joy it is to have someone who remembers who you are and is willing to go way ABOVE & BEYOND what most would ever do. You cant and wont find a better dermatologist around. Dr Flynn thanks again....... Shane & Debbie Gates
