Im going to share a horrible experience I had with Tuality, and maybe, hopefully, it will save someone. I learned I was pregnant in August 2013. It was my first pregnancy. I then applied for Oregon Health Plan and started setting up appointments. In September I started feeling Ill with swollen lymph nodes and a temperature and sore throat. I went into the Tuality Emergency Room in forest grove. They looked me over and said that they didnt believe it was anything they could treat with antibiotics. In October, everything took a turn for the worse. I developed what seemed like a sinus infection with chest pain and trouble breathing. I went to the Tuality Hillsboro ER. There, they told me I had post nasal drip and told me that I could take advil and certain cold medications. I was starting to get terrified because I felt something was very wrong. Two days later, I had gotten even more sick. I could barely breathe and my fever started spiking. My legs were hurting so badly I could barely walk upstairs. They finally took a chest X-ray and told me I had pneumonia. I wish that were the end... After taking medications and having no result, I went back to the ER. They gave me broa again even though I was rapidly deteriorating and over THREE MONTHS PREGNANT. Then, I blacked out for SIX WHOLE WEEKS. I woke up in the ICU of OHSU hooked up to a tracheotomy, several, IVs, a feeding tube, and on dialysis. I COULD NOT WALK, I COULD NOT TALK, I COULD NOT THINK, I WAS BEING FED THROUGH A TUBE, AND I WAS TIED TO A BED. I learned that after I blacked out. My family took me back to Tuality ER. My family basically had to force them to admit me because they were ready to send me home again. I was violently ill by this point. Still very pregnant. They put me in the "progressive care" unit. Not in the ICU where I should have been. I learned that for 3 days Tuality kept me in their hospital doing nothing but giving me antibiotics and fluid like all I had was pneumonia. What was really happening was that my organs were shutting down from SEPSIS. yep, Tuality kept me laying in a hospital bed for three days while my organs were failing one by one. MY KIDNEYS, MY LIVER, MY PANCREAS, MY THYROID, AND MY LUNGS. They were pumping me full of fluid even though my kidneys had failed! FOR DAYS! THEY DID NOTHING TO HELP ME AND MY POOR BABY. The nurses and staff knew I was in terrible shape, and could not control my bowels, but they did not want to help with changing or cleaning anything. NOTHING WAS CLEANED IN MY ROOM UNTIL MY 3RD DAY THERE. Also the medical staff insinuated that I was just having a miscarriage. One nurse even popped here head in and said "do you know what a miscarriage feels like?". APPALLING! The worst by far was they knew that I had SEPSIS and was dying and did not tell my family or I anything about it. I saw the test results. YOU ALL KNEW. Then on my last day there they decided that I needed to go to OHSU. They took me off of all machines and treatments. And I sat, waiting for an ambulance for over 7 HOURS. WERE YOU ALL TRYING TO MAKE SURE I DIED? When my family complained about the ambulance taking too long, your nurses told my mother it was not an emergency. MY BABY AND I WERE DYING! When I got to OHSU they could not even tell I had been treated by a hospital for the past three days. The only organs still functioning somewhat properly were my heart and brain. MY LITTLE BABY HAD TO ENDURE ALL OF THAT. Oh and by the way, I never had a miscarriage. When I woke up six weeks later my baby girl Violet was still alive inside me. I was five months along, then a week later the doctors told me she had been damaged by all the treatments needed to fix me. The doctors at OHSU did everything they could for her, but that if I had her it might kill me, and that there was a good possibility she would die shortly after leaving my body. She died on December 6th 2013. All of the medical staff at Tuality should be ashamed of themselves Now I have to live with all of these scars and the pictures of my Violet

First of all, I want to say this: I will NEVER EVER take any of my family member to this hospital EVER AGAIN. It was a very unpleasant experience. My dad had a very hard time breathing so we took him to the Emergency Room, his oxygen level was very low at the 60s and was found having a very bad lung infection. So he had to stay in ICU for a few days, and this was where the messes started. I brought all of the prescriptions that my dad takes every day to the hospital so the doctor can have a idea what my dad takes regularly. The nurse said she will write all them down, which were about 15 prescriptions. When the nurse left the room, I saw she only had maybe 4-5 written down and asked me to take all the prescriptions home (really? she could remember all the rest?? I highly doubted). My dads oxygen level finally got better after a couple days, but he still had to have oxygen mask on before he go to bed because of his hard time breathing. (This happened after I left the hospital.) A few minutes after they put the mask on him, my dad started having very difficult time breathing, he saw on the monitor that his oxygen dropped down to 75 or so. After a few minutes, still NOBODY show up!! My dad finally managed to press the HELP button, and the nurse didnt show up until 5-10 minutes later while my dad couldnt breath!! And when the nurse show up, guess what?! She found out that the mask was put on incorrectly!!! This is fxxcking unbelievable..After a couple days in ICU, my dad started having hallucination and strange hearings. I asked the nurse and doctor, that my dad has heart condition and mental issue, so maybe he should have some of his prescriptions. Doctor said, no thats not necessary because he is on lung infection treatment so he cannot have other prescriptions. After my dad got out of hospital and saw his family doctor, family doctor said, my dad is taking anxiety and depression prescriptions, cannot stop these prescriptions all the sudden, otherwise it could cause damages to the liver and cause hallucination and hearing, and these prescriptions wouldnt be a problem with the lung infection treatments.....Anyway, the whole experience was unbelievably scary. Hospital is supposed to help and save people, but Tuality Hospital gave me a completely opposite feeling and impression. Again, we will never come to this place again.

My husband went to one appointment and would not return. And a couple weeks ago I had a pretty scary experience in getting my blood drawn. Let me start first with my husbands experience... Backstory: My husbands body had to be completely reconstructed 18 years ago when he was hit by a drunk driver and ran over by another car in the process. His doctor said it was a miracle he was able to walk again but that he would need to replace the pins holding his knee together in 10 years or so. He never replaced those pins AND he works construction so we were concerned about the condition of his leg because hes been having problems the past couple years. I made an appointment for him to see the Dr. at Tuality. He wanted to see a specialist to determine if he needed to get the pins replaced. He told the doctor his issue with his knee and what happened to him 18 years ago. Before he could finish the Dr. said, "Im not prescribing you pain killers." Never did he mention the need for pain killers. That interaction left a bad taste in his mouth and the doctor made him feel like some kind of pill popping drug addict. Mind you, my husband has requested pain killers from any of his doctors. Im sure they do get requests often from people just wanting pills but they shouldnt assume all their patients are like that. My experience: I had an appt. to have my blood drawn so one of their medical assistants took care of me. After swabbing the area she started probing my arm with her fingers looking for the vein. I noticed she wasnt wearing gloves while doing this. When she finally found my vein - I looked away. I then felt the prick of the needle. She didnt re-swab the area after she used her bare fingers on my skin.. Later when relaying my experience to my husband, I realized that she didnt open the needle in front of me. All her supplies were already open on the counter. I felt sick to my stomach. Up until this experience I was just fine with Tuality. After this happened I moved to Providence and havent been back to Tuality since.
