Miseries Mistress
This post contains some information that may be a bit too much for some people and may be triggering. So, I was recently pregnant and had spotted with it being okayd by my Dr throughout the entire pregnancy. Just before 9 weeks pregnant my spotting increased so I went in and after hours and hours, two types of ultrasounds and a ton of time alone I was told it was a threatened miscarriage with a 99% chance of loosing the baby. We grieved and I continued spotting until just before 11 weeks when it VERY heavily increased, we knew exactly what was happening and made our way there. I was told to wait in the waiting room with everyone else and because I was miscarrying I was bleeding very very heavily and I had soaked through my two pads by the time the nurse came to get me. I stood in triage while answering her questions and continued to bleed until it had soaked my pants down to my inner calves and she finally said I should probably get out of them and took me into my private room. The nurse was awesome and put me a little at ease with her humor and understanding, I think her name was Rochelle. She took care of me, and unfortunately for her had to help me change my pads and the pads on the beds quite a few times. She said she thought they should review the tape from my ultrasound the last time I was in, she came back saying the baby was dead at the time of the ultrasound and they had neglected to tell me at my last visit tiothe ER. They said they wanted to give me blood through my IV due to the ridiculous amount I was loosing but never did. The, unfortunately, suppository medication we tried that was supposed to aid the miscarriage to ease the bleeding didnt work, so they decided a D&C needed to be preformed. After even more waiting they gave me some fentynol and preformed the D&C. After the minor surgery my bleeding was much lighter, like a heavy period. A little bit after that the nurse brought in clothes for me to wear home and I changed into those. The nurse came and removed my IV and gave me a one-dose antibiotic and had me go out and wait to be discharged. So its about two and a half weeks later now. My fiance and I went to have sex last night and I started hurting, badly. After doing Internet research this morning I now know that we were supposed to have a check up appointment before having sex, which we were not told anything about. I assumed that because everything seemed fine and all bleeding had stopped we were good to resume the sexual side of our relationship. Dont judge me for this, after all, we should have been told this information at the hospital. Now I have risked infection and hopefully everything will turn out okay. Anyways the two times Ive been to their ER now which was for pretty important things they have failed to tell me very important things about my then current condition and I am really NOT happy about that.

I had stomach cramps and went to my doctor for a full checkup. He did a full set of lab tests and a full exam. He thought there was a slight chance I might have appendicitis and told me he had talked to McKenzie Willamette to schedule a ct scan and to check in at the emergency room desk. Following his instructions, I went to the hospital to have a ct scan of my abdomen. They insisted I wait in a bed in the hospital, redid all of the lab tests my doctor had done, had me checked by an physicians assistant, and finally did the cat scan 3 hours later. Everything came back negative and they sent me home. I received a bill from the hospital for $7930.02, charging me for 2 ct scans at $2352 each, $2244.94 for a comprenhensive er visit, multiple charges for medication and lab results. In addition, Ive received bills for about $400 from the radiologist and the emergency room physician. Bottom line is the total bill was almost $9000.00 for one test to rule out a slight chance of appendicitis. Ive been disputing the bill since I received it in early July and to date, havent been able to get it resolved. Ive checked with the business manager 3 times, sent a long letter, and have still not heard anything back. THIS IS TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS AND AN ABUSE OF THE MEDICAL SYSTEM. My insurance has paid approximately $3200 of this bill and disallowed $4045. The hospital is still trying to collect $1237.94 from me and each of the doctors wants his piece of the pie also. Any call to them regarding the dispute results in "the doctor (or his assistant) performed the exam whether it was requested, needed or not, and I have to pay the bill. My husband had a severe heart problem 2 years ago and was taken to Riverbend Sacred Heart Hospital, spent several hours in the emergency room with extensive tests, was admitted overnight and his bill was less than this bill for a simple ct scan. We all have choices of the hospital we use - DONT GO TO MCKENZIE WILLAMETTE! They are a total rip off and are padding their bills.

I’m sure many if not most of the doctors and nurses at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center are skilled, caring and wonderful people, but their business office is unethical and unavailable. My wife was charged $2,500 for a ROUTINE Colonoscopy, which under the Affordable Care Act is considered a routine procedure with no charge. But the doctor at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center billed the Routine procedure as Diagnostic, and there is no appeal process. We are out more than two thousand dollars because of their incompetent billing office and procedures. I have filed a complaint with the Oregon Medical Board. Be VERY CAREFUL when booking any procedure at this facility. Make SURE that insurance will cover what you were told they would cover. GET IT IN WRITING. Or the business office will rob you blind. EDIT: I increased from one star to three stars. OK - McKenzie-WIllamette Hospital outsources their business office to somewhere in Tennessee. A bunch of rude folks who cast a very negative light on the facility. But I was able to get in touch with the business manager here in Eugene, and she was EXTREMELY HELPFUL - even working with us to obtain a FULL REFUND. Too bad they cant maintain a staff to direct their business here in Eugene. But that is the way of the world now. I deleted some of my caustic observations, but left in the advice. Be careful. Make sure insurance will cover the procedure before signing anything......
