I will preface this with the fact that I had previously seen multiple dentists through another dentistry and had continuing problems as a result. For almost a decade I went to Gentle Dental and was tired of the sub-par service and the lack of care and quality dental work. I first discovered American Dental because I needed an emergency appointment for a tooth extraction and a really bad infection. They got me in right away and resolved the issues. I swear to you, I have NEVER been taken care of so well in my life than every time I go to American Dental. I am choosing willingly to pay out of pocket (my insurance did not for the most part cover the procedures or transitioning insurance at times) to go to this dentistry over any of the competitors that would be more cost effective. I had a root canal with them and never felt pain or discomfort, even following the procedure and numbness wearing off. The staff are very nice to my family and remember/interact with my young son every time he is with me in the waiting room. Any surgical procedures I had done they ensured I was well informed and never in pain as well as effective after care. Staff: At the Shillington Location (my "home" location essentially) you have the dentist Dr. Runkle (I am probably butchering the spelling of his name). He is the most down to earth and easy going dentists I have ever met. He cares about all aspects of your care and goes above and beyond each time I am there to ensure quality service. He is the BEST dentist I have ever had the pleasure of being a patient for. He pays attention to you in the chair and EVERYTHING is laid out in front of you about what is being done and what is wrong with your teeth. They are very open with you and willing to help. The dental hygienist I went to often was named Barb. She is also an A list employee. I NEVER had any dentist care about the health of my gums and assist me on proper care than I did with her. She is very personable and caring and very relatable to. You will not be afraid of the chair I assure you. I had no idea about gum health or proper care and was sabotaging myself due to being unaware of these issues until I came to American Dental and in the care of Barb. The last person you see is of course financial to resolve any bills and potentially make more appointments. This man is Leo. He is GREAT. He is the only person I have a great time with when handing over large chunks of money :) My son adores him and he is great with kids as well as leading and guiding patients to what would be the best course of action in concerns to bills. I would not be able to afford the AMAZING dental care I get from them if it was not for him. I have been going to this location for a little over a year and every time I go I am amazed by the service I am give. There is many other associates there whose names escape me but EVERYONE of them make a dentist visit enjoyable (Yes, you read that right). I HIGHLY recommend giving them a try. I promise you wont regret it. I didnt! If the people who own the locations see this review, give them all a raise!

Something is really wrong with this place... Recently I was "diagnosed" with gum disease at the age of 18 I didnt think that was right I brushed my teeth twice a day and I flossed it didint make any sense to me. They told me I would lose my teeth and my gums looked bad with "deep pockets". Mind you I had braces on during the time so NATURALLY your gums are alittle swollen from constant movement in the mouth. Well stupid me was terrified and I got a 1000 dollar procedure done that they said I "needed". I got my braces off today and I went to a different dentist for a check up he looked at me crazy and said I never needed that procedure. He also told me that he recieved alot of people coming into his office for second opinions and that most of these people came from this kenhorst office. He was explaining how they needed half to none of what they are trying to get out of you or claim what is wrong with you. Naturally I was upset. Now here is where it gets interesting my brother and a friend of mine both got "diagnosed" with gum disease at this place. One of them was 17 years of age. Are you kidding me. I told them both to get a second opinion which they did and both went to opposite dentist and both got the same result my friend got a cavity filled and a cleaning and my brother got a cleaning and was scolded for not flossing well enough. Im upset because I got scammed out of 1000 dollars. Im upset that scams like this are going on. Please I beg everyone to get a second opinion before you pay hundreds upon thousands for things you dont need.

BEWARE:My wife and I were looking for a new dentist since moving here from Ohio. We each had an exam and were told that we needed scaling and fillings replaced and needed to come for check-ups every three months. My wife was told she needed two new crowns. We prepaid for my wifes treatment with my MasterCard to save 10%. After my wife had the scaling done we each went to another dentist who told us scaling, crowns and replacing fillings wasnt needed. I cancelled all other service and asked for my money to be refunded to my credit card I was told they dont do that and it would take four to six weeks to get a refund of the remaining $2400., it took almost eight weeks. We paid almost $900. For my wifes scaling that should have been just a regular cleaning for a fraction of the cost. Bottom line they told us we needed additional things that two other dentist said that we did not need. I believe they are unethical and are trying to increase their profits by telling people they need dental procedures that arent really needed. Get a second opinion before getting any dental work done here-we learned the hard way.

My family and I were under the care of American Dental Solutions for a few years. Our care started to change about one year ago. All the dental hygienists left (or were relocated). All of a sudden the dentist reported I had several cavities requiring hundreds of dollars of dental work. The dentist disregarded my concerns about dental implications from a chronic medical condition. Medications provided to be I found through other professionals could affect my mouth and my teeth. When I checked out with the clerk he started offering medical advice and dental advice. I felt like I was being hustled. In short the staff was unprofessional. I sought a different opinion. The dentist performed new imaging and a full examination. The dentist reported that I have healthy and cavity free teeth. Unfortunately, this dental office reported that they hear from many patients that this experience is not uncommon. While this may be common place, it is not acceptable. I would hope that you think twice before entrusting your dental care to this office and the "professionals" employed here.
