This is long, but you might want to read it. I made two visits to this office because I was new in Charleston and didnt have a primary care physician at the time. The first visit was for a sinus infection. Ive had many in the past but fewer in recent years. Dr. suggested I get a CT scan. I asked how a CT scan would help and was told it would tell me if I need surgery. Surgery was recommended in past, but I chose non surgical treatment. Dr. got angry, asked me what medical school I went to, and gave me a prescription. He had no respect for a patients informed medical decision. Months later, I went back with a cough. The doctor ordered an xray and it looked scary. He said pneumonia and gave me an antibiotic. I asked if I was okay and should I go to the hospital and he stated no. Come back for a recheck in 2 weeks. The radiology report received by this office the following day showed a large pleural effusion and a partially collapsed lung. I received no call from this office notifying me that I was urgently in need of appropriate medical care. The following day, siting in a real physicians office, the remaining lobe of my lung collapsed and I was sent to the hospital via ambulance. I had to have surgery on the lung and nearly died from the infection. There was so much infection around my lung that infected my heart and left me with heart failure. After looking at my xray from Doctors Care, the doctor who treated me in the hospital stated that the doctor at Doctors Care should have sent me immediately to the hospital. I took the doctor to small claims court because I wanted to confront him about how his negligence affected me. In court, the doctor actually lied and said he told me he wanted me to get a CT scan but I refused. He actually brought up the fact that months prior at a visit I refused a CT scan for my sinuses. I pointed out that I had had no sinus infection since, so perhaps I was the only person in the room to make an appropriate medical decision for me. Then he said he couldnt send me for a CT scan because I was at his office on a Sunday. The judge actually pointed out to the lying Doctors Care doctor that the hospital is open all day, every day. Ultimately, I didnt win because I didnt follow procedural rules for a malpractice claim. But the judge stated that even though I couldnt win because I didnt follow the rules, he believed the doctor lied. Winning wasnt my goal. Confronting the man who so grossly misdiagnosed me was the goal. I contacted the CEO of Doctors Care by mail and told him about my treatment in this office and requested he contact me. I never heard anything. I would never go to this office or any other Doctors Care again. Not only was the doctor incompetent, he was arrogant and unethical, he lied to cover his negligence, and the CEO showed absolutely no interest.

I had a horrible experience! (I was in need of a new personal doctor) I went in with tears from pain & a panic attack. I have previously been hospitalized for panic attacks &god was told to establish a new doctor. I was in tears trying to explain my experiences. Not fully able to speak correctly in clearly. I had my friend there as a witness to help. The doctor condencendingly spoke down to me in his opinion rather than Listening to me explain all of my symptoms before diagnosing me! He treated me like a drug addict because I admitted to using mmj in the past. Thats what he made his diagnosis. I am now still sick. He was a white male mid 50s red/blond hair 58" I was willing to listen but once he told me to "Stop Right There" while explaining to him I was in need of narcotic pain relievers due to several major car accidents in my past(which I have medical records for & I have been on under a watchful eye of another doctor for 3 years) (He cut me off to say I would only leave his office with an anti nausea medication called fenegrin which I previously explained Does not help me. I was wasting my time with this doctor and became very aggravated in my weakened state. I told him he could take the fenegrin & Go Fu$k himself! I will never pay the bill if they have the nerve to send it I will Sue them! Worthless doctor ready to go home on a friday afternoon. I am now sitting in an emergency room getting treated for a panic attack. Partly due to this doctors in capabilities. I will be forwarding the emergency room bill to his office with for not helping me in the first place when I needed medical attention to prevent a major panic attack! Do Not Support This Doctors Office! Waisting your time. The Staff otherwise was nice. The doctor worthless!

This is the second time Im reviewing this location. Last time was because of the insane wait time. This time is because, for the second time in less than a year, I have had a collection agency sent on me for bills I did not even receive from Doctors Care. This messes up your credit score, and Im in the market for a house. From the date of the bill I didnt pay, I have been to doctors care multiple times, each time asking if I had an outstanding balance that I needed to pay, because I havent received any bills in the mail. I have been told, most times, that I was good to go. And the times I have had a balanced I paid. Yet, I call the billing department today, only to find out they sent a collection agency on me for a bill from March, and Ive been there multiple times since then, and was never told of this bill once! I went through this same scenario with them at the beginning of this year. Oh, and now I have bills to be taken care of by workmans comp, only to find out that workmans comp has faxed them a sopena for my medical bills in order for them to pay multiple times, but Doctors Care has still sent them nothing. I fully expect them to send a collection agency on me for that too, because no one at this location seems to know what theyre doing. Needless to say, I have gone to Doctors Care for the last time... Oh and obviously this is a problem, because the person, Higgins, in the review below me also had a collection agency sent on him.

I went in to Doctors Care in August with what turned out to be kidney stones. I checked in and waited to be called in, I did not have my insurance card at the time but was told I could bring it back later on. By the time I was called back I was in a lot of pain, at this time I spoke to a nurse/doctor in the hallway and was told they can not help me and I need to go to the ER for a cat scan and pain meds. On my way out they told me to give a urine sample, I assume it was for them to charge my insurance company and/or me to make some money on my visit because I never received a call or letter stating my results. I did as I was told and was treated at the ER. A month later I received a bill for $150, I then called the office and talked to a receptionist, who then talked to the nurse/doctor that saw me in the hall way. They then told me that there would be no bill and it would be taken care of. I few months later I get a letter from the Doctors Care headquarters in Columbia trying to collect on the $150 bill that was suppose to be taken care of. I again told them that no official office visit was done and I was told to go to the ER. I feel like I owe them nothing because no service was provided. They agreed and assured me it was taken care of. Now they have sent me to collections for a service they never provided. If you have any other options for health care I would strongly suggest you go else where.
