I will try to give a fair review.. Im not a vet so I dont know if anything could have been done differently and I certainly do not want to unjustifiably ruin the reputation of this establishment. What I know is that I brought my dog there every six months for a check up and everytime he left with a clean bill of health (besides minor colds, etc). I brought him there in January because he had a persisting cough. Dr. Gappas examined him and requested xrays. The xrays showed he had an enlarged heart. Dr. Gappas suggested we exercise more and asked that we do a sonogram asap but the sonogram specialist was there only on Wendesday. They asked me to leave him there from 9am in the morning (in a crate) and by the time the sonogram specialist came it was after 5pm. As he was performing the sonogram, my little boy started coughing and he told us to take him to the hospital immeadiately. He died 5 minutes later in my dads arms. It turns out that the last thing you should be doing when your pet has an enlarged heart is to exercise them more. Also, if he was 3 days away from his death, why couldnt Dr. Gappas see the severety of my babys condition? Why did he have to spend the entire last day of his life in a cage? Why did they ask us to bring him in in the morning when the sonogram specialist was coming after 5pm? I might be just a bitter grieving mom thats looking to blame someone for the loss of her baby...you can judge for yourself.

I took my beagle here three months ago because I figured something was wrong with my pupper, I told them shes been sick for months vomiting diarrhea and that something was severely wrong because I know my dog, the male doctor that assisted me and his rude female assistant were both useless, told me that I am worrying over nothing and that she is fine, mind you they charged me 200 just for them to look at her and give me ear medication that I already had. A week ago from today my dog started to have seizures and was even worse from the time I took her to this clinic, and I decided to change vets and take her else where, so I took her to ASPCA, ASPCA CONFIRMED that my dog had pyrometa and that it has accumalted for MONTHS which means that this CLINIC IS COMPLETE BS! My dog could have died!!!! These people do not care about your babies I will never return to this place again, you could have killed my princess, Im glad I took matters into my own hands. Take your dog to the humane society or ASPCA I can gauruntee these people actually care about your babies, they took care of my baby and helped me with finances. Please again do not take ur pets here they do absolutely nothing.

I usually go there on Saturdays for the convenience of the hours. I havent had too much luck with the personalities of the "nurses" on the weekends, and they generally give me the cold shoulder - dont answer many of my questions and are just generally very curt. Regardless of all that I continue to take my dogs there because I DO like the doctor. When I had my younger dog neutered there a few months ago they were very sweet and caring for my baby and gave me great directions.. I had to ask all the questions - but they were willing to answer. I also boarded that same dog for a weekend - last minute and they were really great with him when dropping him off and when I was picking him up! They are very good about their reminders for shots and vaccines and such. They are very fairly priced and better than the other vet I had tried my dog with!!

I had my dog spayed there last night. When we picked her up, we asked the manager, how do we carry her? she said "walk her slowly" When we placed her on the floor, her entire body was shaking from the pain. We were ignorant and stupid for listening to her, but what do we know, this is our first dog and everybody told us that it was a small surgery (IS NOT). Then, we take her home without any follow up instructions (like a cone) so that she doesnt lick the wound. I called the manager the next day to ask if it was safe that she licked it and she said that she forgot to give us a cone and that licking could cause an infection. Take your baby somewhere else. I dont feel that my dog would be safe there...

THEY LOST MY DOG... i have two dogs, and they were asked to walk together apparently one of my dogs one day got off the collar and ran away. they didnt run after my dog either, they only made flyers and never put them up. luckily i had a friend who searched for 4.5 hours for my dog in queens. she found him in a gas station in queens, his mouth was bleeding, he was limping and covered in grease. he was hurt and traumatized and we were lucky that we found him! they were terrible, they didnt even have the decency to find the dog, i will never recommend them to anyone! no one else should ever have to go through this. im getting my other dog out of there ASAP.

This place was one of few vets open on Sunday but I see its just to prey on the desperate. After three days they couldnt do much for my cat so I went to another vet and they healed him in 2 hours. Just so you know if you leave your pet overnight make sure you pick them up before 12pm the next day or theyll charge you for another day like a hotel. The staff wont mention this policy to you until its too late and the doctor wont talk to you until after 2pm when their finish looking at new patients coming in. Besides they dont do anything overnight.

I live with my cat from my childhood, so she is approximately 14 years old. When we moved to the area, I brought her in to find she has the very typical issue (for elderly cats) of kidney failure. I worried about her quality of life most of all, and fortunately, the clinic easily showed me how to care for her myself so that she did not have to travel to the clinic too often, and essentially, they taught me how to nurse her back to health! How wonderful for both of us. If you have an old cat, they know what to do.

Dr Gapas, Jane and Bidette are all amazing people. I have taken all of my dogs to LIC Animal Clinic for the last 17 years, and even though I moved out of the neighborhood 10 yrs ago, I still make the trip to Dr Gapass, and I wouldnt dream of going anyplace else. Dr Gapas has a heart of gold. She has seen my dogs through some tough times. Every time she has treated my dogs, whether for a minor sickness or a major surgery, the dogs have always been better off for Dr. Gapass having attended to them.

We have 3 cats and we have brought them all to Dr. Alveraz and the other dr (whos name exacts me!), They are so warm and accommodating... and very, very fair with pricing. We used to go to the guy on Steinway and he was more concerned with uncharging than helping our pets. These guys are just so kind...and even though we dont go to them for regular visits, we are never made to feel bad. Its always a sense of "how can we help this pet right now" Love them and couldnt recommend them enough.
