I went there with my mom to pay the balance to have my 14 year old dogs ashes returned to me (he had been put to sleep there 2 days prior). It took them well more than an hour to call me just to process my credit card and sign some papers, even though they knew why we were there. Just knowing that the body of our beloved baby boy was still back there somewhere was absolutely heart wrenching for us. We were both emotionally distraught. After about an hour and a half to two hour wait were finally called in to process the payment. About 2 weeks later I returned to collect my baby boys ashes. I went by myself, my mother just couldnt bear to accompany me. Anyway, I let the receptionist know why Im there. She seemed very compassionate and offered her condolences and asked for my name. I told her then she went back to look for his remains. Im guessing she couldnt find anything under my name (even though I paid with my credit card, and I was listed as the dogs actual owner) so after a while, asked me what my dogs name was. I told her and thats when she found the paper bag with his name on it. Inside was an urn with my baby boys ashes. I cannot explain the emptiness and pain I felt when I saw it. So I proceeded to go around back to pick it up and to sign some paperwork. Thats where this one bitchy woman, a vet tech or something, started snapping and boisterously complaining that my dogs info was under another persons name - my aunt, since she had originally taken my dog to be put to sleep because neither my mom or myself could do it, it was just too excruciatingly painful. Anyway, this lady clearly knows that Im there to pick up the remains of my 14 year old loyal companion who left me just 2 weeks prior, yet still feels the need to snap and be rude just because I had given my name (since that was what I was asked by the receptionist) instead of my aunts name. That is the absolute epitome of insensitivity and unprofessionalism. Part of me wanted to curse her out and punch her in the face. But I was emotionally broken when I saw the little paper bag containing the remains of my sweet little angel. I couldnt deal with that rude and insensitive ghetto broad. I just wanted to get the hell out of there. I signed what I needed to sign and I just bolted out of there. Looking back at it, I received much more compassion and empathy from the other animal lovers that were there with their pets that day than from the staff of this clinic (minus the receptionist). Needless to say I would NEVER bring another pet to that place again...EVER! From the appearance of the clinic, to the overall unprofessionalism and ghetto behavior of a lot of the staff, its just not a place you want to take your beloved pet to.

After reading these reviews , I feel compelled to write about my experience with Armory Dog & Cat Hospital. A co-worker recommended this practice when I mentioned I owned several senior cats, with varying ailments and illnesses and they were all treated for by these folks Yes, the wait can be long, the waiting room cramped and the staff curt but they are very busy and sometimes understaffed. I also have witnessed clients acting out in the most outrageous and aggressive ways imaginable and the staff handled those incidents with more professionalism and grace than I would have been able to muster. Not every veterinarians personality will mesh with a pets owner but these are all very compassionate and experienced vets. Ive seen various veterinarians over the years and Ill take a competent, caring vet in the Bronx over one with a fancy office who is only interested in making my pet the $10,000 cat while stroking my hand. The fees and medications are affordable and far less less than one would expect to pay at a comparable clinic. Annabelle Moreo has been nothing but professional and caring in my experience and I will continue to take my cats (as well as my sons cats) for as long as shes there. Dr Burchman is excellent and experienced-he quickly and accurately diagnosed my cat with CKD. Despite his illness being quite advanced, we had a quality year together under their care. Cats in particular are very good at hiding their illness from us and other felines; thus, urgent and emergency care will not be inexpensive nor is it guaranteed to prolong the quality of life of our furry friends. It is hard to have ease their suffering and help them pass into the next life but as pet owners we must all do right by our companions. It distresses me to see vitriolic reviews by pet owners who took a beloved pet that had a poor prognosis with a corresponding outcome. I see they are lashing out but blaming the messenger is not helpful to others.

I hated this place the very first time I walked through the door two years ago, our dog was not right and someone recommended it as being affordable and close by, they were right, the place is both but I still hated it, that is until they saved our dogs life. Now I just dislike it. The doctors seem knowledgeable and caring, there are two young male assistants that are polite, gentle and professional, the wait is never ending and whether or not you have an appointment, count on being there a minimum of two hours before they call your name, one day I waited four. The waiting room is dirty and it stinks, and I imagine it must be hard to keep it clean with so many dogs in such a small place but sometimes we come in first thing in the morning when they open and it still stinks... but all this is tolerable so long as they keep their prices low and their doctors caring and so far they have and thats why we keep going; What is not tolerable no matter how low their fees are is the rudeness of the front of the house staff, they are lacking social skills and not suited for dealing with the public, yes the clientele in general seems to be less civilized than the pets they bring in but as office workers at a doctors office the staff should have better social skills and be more professional and polite. Also, the staff should refrain from calling their clients "Sweetie" or "Hon" or anything that is not Maam, Sir, Mr. , Miss, Ms or Mrs. While it may be common in the Bronx to speak that way I take offense at strangers referring to me as "sweetie", especially at a professional setting like theirs. I am not some doctors office workers sweetie, to them I am Maam or Mrs. For their information, there are business english lessons available throughout New York City, perhaps the Dr. Owner should invest in a few courses for his office staff.

Giving one star only because its required. Took my very sick kitten there specifically for an IV after he ingested a small amount of flea shampoo. The Vet Gladys Papak refused to give him the IV even tho the assistant suggested it, simply because she did not want to "keep him over night" I would have been happy with an IV for 3-4 hours because the cat was not eating or drinking and still had the toxin in his system. When I tried to inform them of what the shampoo hotline said were the symptoms of ingesting the product I was told "no thats not whats wrong with him" they stuck him in his back paw 5 times to draw blood for a blood exam only to tell me that his blood glucose is low (OBVIOUSLY HE HASNT BEEN EATING!) when they had the opportunity to administer some sort of medication they did not simply because he would not eat or swallow it (at this time the kitten was very weak and had not eaten for nearly two days, he had no energy to walk much less) so I asked if I could take the medication home and attempt to feed him later since Im already paying for the visit and the meds involved, and I was refused. The last part is the best, I was told I should surrender the kitten so that they could put him down because he would not survive, (more like no one wanted to put any EFFORT into their job) Ive been to four vets in my life and this was honestly the worst experience I have ever had from a veterinarian. To Gladys Papak who was the vet seeing my poor kitten in his time of need, I honestly hope you change careers. The only plus I can give them is that the woman at the front desk was an absolute sweetheart, and I appreciate everything she did to make my visit easier. My kitten is recovery nicely after, being treated by a different source. Its almost as if all he needed was someone to put some effort into treating him.
