I received PRK surgery on June 10th, 2017, at the Jacksonville, FL location. This review is long as hell, but I want to make this as comprehensive as possible for anyone hoping to better inform their decision to get this surgery. Before the surgery my vision was 20/200, the day after I tested at 20/20 and am expected to improve further. I dont really care if I can see above 20/20, so even if I stop there Im still 100% satisfied. I cant express how great it feels to be typing this without assistance or squinting. Overall the staff was professional, friendly, and well-informed. Very excellent experience. 10/10 would do again if my eyes reverted back to being Total Garbage. My initial intake was performed by Manny, who was attentive and very easy to converse with. He performed several examinations on my eyes, then had an ophthalmologist repeat a couple of the steps after dilation and an application of dye. Janet, the Office Manager in charge of consultations (or at least my consultation), was a pleasure to work with. Questions or concerns I presented to her were answered with robust detail, easily quelling any anxieties I may have had. I did not leave the consultation with any ambiguity over the procedure or the post-op medication regimen. She was fun to chat with and is probably worth the cost of the procedure alone. Janet is awesome. My PRK surgery was performed by Dr. Okoye. Ive only had one procedure for my eyes, so I dont possess a comprehensive breadth of ophthalmologic experience. However, if asked for a reference I would offer up Dr. Okoyes name without a moments hesitation. He was of superlative competence with a very affable personality. The most uncomfortable part of the entire procedure (and Im writing this without any semblance of hyperbole) was the placement of the ophthalmic speculum to keep my eyes from closing. That was basically the pain equivalent of pressing your finger into the supraorbital ridge - like, not painful at all but just a bit of pressure. I really couldnt believe how quickly the entire surgery went. Ill detail the experience a little for anyone reading this who may also be interested in pursuing PRK, beginning at the actual surgery. Dr. Okoye was accompanied by two assistants. I was asked to lay on the operating bed, had a cushion placed under my knees, and was given a pillow to hold onto (not by request, that was just part of it). Numbing drops were applied to each eye. The ophthalmic speculum was placed over my right eye, an eye patch taped over my left. Dr. Okoye applied the medicine to dissolve the epithelial layer, then brushed it away with what I guess was a cotton swab or something similar. I was told to stare at the green light in the center of the laser apparatus. Moments later I smelled the keratin burning away as the laser did its thing. Some more drops were applied. I believe he used another swab to clean up the eye after the laser finished its process. He applied the contact "bandage" (it literally looks like a contact lens). The process was then repeated on my left eye with a patch taped over the right. All-in-all both eyes together took only a few minutes to complete. I dont have the worlds best perception of passing time, but it felt like under ten minutes. I apologize for forgetting the follow-up doctors name, but I was then given a quick eye test by another doctor just to see how my vision had changed. I believe I tested at 20/40? I returned the following day (less than 24 hours post-op) and tested at 20/20. The aftercare has been easy, and the worst of it so far has been the dryness felt upon waking from sleep. Thats remedied by the artificial tears almost immediately. This has been a very low discomfort experience overall. Im thoroughly happy and would recommend visiting this location if youre interested in PRK. I cant speak to the experience of LASIK, so I wont assume the two experiences are identical. I wish Id done this so many years ago. Donating my glasses felt so great. No more worrying about smudged lenses!

I would never go here again! The experience in the surgical room was terrible! The doctor was yelling, it was a scene from a botched movie! The work on my right eye was very painful ! Seven months later I have to go to a retina doctor for emergency laser for a torn retina. Which I could of went blind! Now I have cataracts and didnt have them before. Thats another surgery. I still owe from the bum job they did. If you look under their contract you wont see where if they mess up you can contact the medical board and once you sign their paperwork your done! The office their is full of their attorneys! Its like a factory in and out!. Im still paying this! All the people that work there as to know whats going on and dont say a word. Now maybe they can do simple problems, but when they check you they should tell you they wont take a chance if theres any doubt, but I guess the money is more important that truly helping someone!.

I have to give 5 stars because I am SO happy and have 20/15 vision in both eyes one month after Wavelength Laser surgery. I never expected such a great outcome and highly recommend this facility. The doctors and staff are stellar and make you feel comfortable during all your visits and surgery. The consult done by Janet, the office manger, was awesome. She went above and beyond to ensure I was informed and comfortable with everything leading up to my surgery. Dr. Okoye talks to you through the whole surgery. His passion for giving sight back to his patients is evident in his wonderful bedside manner. He thanked me for allowing him to perform surgery and I laughed and said "No Dr. Okoye, I should be thanking you!" Lastly, the only thing I can say is I wish I had done it sooner....I will be 52 in 2 weeks and have worn glasses since 2nd grade.

I was able to talk the sales gal (who claimed to be a surg tech but clearly knew nothing about the surgeries) into quoting my procedure at half of the price it was intially going to be. There was only one employee that I encountered who had good bedside manner, everyone else just tried to rush me through everything which made me much more nervous about the procedure. I had the procedure about a couple weeks ago and my vision is consistently improving and Im happy with it. My surgeon was Dr. Ireland, and he was kind and works very fast. Overall I dont regret going here and the price was definitely right for my budget. But if youre looking for an exceptional and personalized experience, this probably wouldnt be the place for you.
