I called and was able to bring Max in the same day. I, like another poster was worried about the cost because Max had a suspicious bump on his back. From the moment I walked in I was treated respectfully and Max was treated like royalty. The staff was very upfront about the cost of service and I had to sign a release prior to treatment. Sorry folks, but it cost money to run a business and vet school isnt cheap. In my opinion if the front office isnt run as well as the back we miss out on the services of good people. All in all the charges were very affordable, below the estimate and staff did not try and hawk their preferred brand of dog food or treats. How often does that happen? Max had his bump examined, a complete physical to include his teeth and we were in and out in about an hour. While I was in the exam room I over heard the staff talking about the best way to break it to another "parent" that their pet was terminal. In that conversation the staff gained my complete respect because what they had in mind was the pet and their owner. No mention of the bill was ever made. I didnt give five stars because Max has only been one time. If/when its time for Max to go back this is the clinic I will be taking him to.

This is a terrific office with strong skills and nice, hardworking staff. The staff all have warm and highly compassionate personalities. We really can not say enough positive things about the people and care we have received here. We work with Dr. Kurt Reimer but my impression is that all the vets are very good. We particularly like him.. Over the years my husband and I have owned many dogs who have lived long lives. We currently have two dogs, a 5 year old Weimeraner and 1 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback. Dr. Reimer was truly outstanding in the diagnosis and care of our 17 year old Springer in the last months of her life, ensuring her the best possible health and comfort given her condition. Because we have moved a few times in our careers we have researched vets in several cities and chosen them carefully each time. We are so pleased to have landed at UP Vet Hospital and recomend them highly..

I really do like the staff here. They have always been friendly and professional throughout the years. But this last visit was the clincher. Our 12 year old cattle dog Homer needed surgery, X-rays, antibiotics, pain meds, 1/2 day hospitalization, and other things which can all add up $$$ pretty quickly. Prior to the surgery, it was estimated the costs would be anywhere between $800.00 - $1,200.00. They really didnt know what they were working with until surgery was underway. In the end, however, Homers situation wasnt as bad as they had feared and the final cost was much, much less than we originally thought. We only paid in the ballpark of $550.00. Not only are they friendly and professional, they are honest. I have always known that, but this proved it (not that I needed it ;-).

I switched to UP veterinary hospital after being charged at a different clinic for medicine that my cat didnt need. She didnt even have any of the signs or symptoms of parasites or worms, but after giving her medication after "positive" test results, I was told that she wasnt cleared up yet. She was still a kitten at the time, also. I took my kitty to UP vet hospital for a second opinion and the staff confirmed that she was just fine! They really checked her out very well, also. They will not give peoples pets unnecessary services or medicine. I will continue taking my cat to UP vet hospital for as long as the service stays good and for as long as we continue to live in the area. Its a shorter drive for us anyway, than it was to the other place.

I have been to a few vets for my one year old Dachshund-Yorkshire Terrier mix as I have relocated a few times. By far, Univ. Place Vet Hospital, is the best. Staff is friendly and always greets my pup and I as if theyve known us for years. The cost of services is reasonable and, more importantly, staff will not try to sell you products for your pets that are not necessary. I am able to book appointments online, too, which is a convenience. Dr. Paulette Santonacita is absolutely wonderful! She spent a significant amount of time with my pup and I during his annual wellness exam. I am comforted knowing my boy is in good hands.

Called reference my pet (dog) had an ear problem. Was pleasantly surprised that they could see him that day (Actually 45 min. after the call). Staff was friendly. Dr. was knowledgeable and friendly, didnt make me feel like a fool for trying home remedies. She taught me how to clean my dogs ears and actually did this to show me. I was extremely impressed with the service here. This is now my vet. I have found my Vet "Forever home".

One of the worst life experiences I have EVER had !! People that become veterinarians need to do it for the right / correct reasons and NOT for the almighty dollar. Ask questions the entire time, you are the customer . Dont like what you hear say so and move on. This place is obviously a business, that put the dollar bill ahead of my pet and myself ! An extremely bad memory I will live with the rest of my life, stay away !!

Wonderful veterinary clinic with friendly and professional staff. Took my kitten to get neutered. I received a call after he came out of the surgery and was able to pick him up same day. Have had zero issues post surgery and received a wonderful thank you card in the mail signed by everyone at the office. Would highly recommend taking your "other child" here for any of their health needs.

I was very, very impressed with the staff and Dr. Paulette. I took in my new bearded dragon to get her checked out and everyone was genuinely excited to help out. Dr. Paulette was cheerful and friendly and amazingly knowledgeable and Im stoked to find a vet to take care of my scaly friend. Me and Khaleesi will definitely come back for more visits.

I started taking my dog here last year and have yet to be disappointed. The whole staff creates a welcoming environment that makes vet appointments easier for both the pet and the owner. Also being available for appointments on Saturdays makes working around tough schedules much easier.

this place is ok. friendly staff. and pricey for shots and things. i guess most vets are...here they send you annoying postcards in the mail saying you "need" to come in for another checkup. i would rather come in when i want to.

Dr. Deanna Shafer has cared for my birds for 18 years...I am comfortable knowing her avian expertise is second to none. She and her staff are kind, gentle and caring. I recommend she and her caring staff to any bird owner.

We commute 45 minutes from the peninsula to take our dogs here after we moved 4 years ago. Wouldnt trust anyone else with our pups. The vets are friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned with the welfare of our pups.

Staff is generally unfriendly with the exception of one or two. Although knowledgeable, way way overpriced. Bring your 401k account to settle the bill with those people. The Vet here WILL rip you off, believe that.
