The rehab staff: Occupational, Speech and Physical Therapy were wonderful. But the rest of our experience - the time other than the 1- 2 hours of therapy - was not. The facility is ancient and in poor repair: toilets backed up and overflowed, no vents in bathrooms, the windows are not insulated so rooms are freezing in cold weather and sweltering in hot. The odor of urine is very strong on most days. After frigid days/nights and repeated pleas for heat in room WE (not the facility manger or staff) found the thermostats were set to A/C - not heat and had a custodian fix it. We found medications needed to be monitored to be sure no mistakes were made - (our experience even after reviews with floor Nurse and Case Managers). Some of nursing staff and CNAs were wonderful and caring - others indifferent and overworked. We hired 24 hour sitters to keep our loved one (with dementia) safe and attended to. Food is not good - mostly we brought in food from home. We experienced problems due to poor communications between staff / nursing / visiting Doctors and front office. If you place a loved one here I recommend you visit often and stay very involved with their care and case management - especially if they have dementia! Also - the parking situation at this facility is terrible,

They have a lot of caring technicians but the some of the nursing staff do everything they can do to avoid talking to family members of people staying there. At nurses station the nurse for that room is always not there. When you wait for them they went to lunch/dinner. They keep folks in way convenient for them even when patient is in distress. The physical therapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists are great. And the techs are over-worked and it looks understaffed. Perhaps not a great place for patients with dementia

I dont quite understand the "5-Star Best Nursing Homes in America" rating!! Dad has been there for TWO DAYS and has had nothing done for him as far as rehab. The first time I walked into the facility I was TOTALLY ignored - there is no professionalism. The facility is old, outdated, honestly creepy - dont be fooled by the luxury buildings out front nor the updated entryway. The care givers are in no hurry to assist the patient as we waited for over 20 minutes for a Tylenol that never showed up. If THIS is 5 star I AM SHOCKED!
