This doctor may be great, but Ill never know because everytime I called I was sent to voicemail or put on hold. At one point the receptionist picked up and asked me to hold again, and I informed her I had been waiting for forty minutes. She kind of laughed and put me on hold again. If she is so overwhelmed that patients have to wait 45 mins and still cant speak with anyone, then maybe they should have more than one receptionist.

Dr. Helen Matthews will NOT take Blue Shield PPO - even though she is accepting new patients, if purchased under Covered California. Yet she is contracted with them...is this not illegal? Although her receptionist has informed me that she takes "some" but not all, with no guideline for the discrimination. Its just "up to her". How unprofessional. How subjective. How illegal.

Dr. Matthews and her staff were extra friendly and very considerate throughout my time of being a patient. Im a military dependant and at a time where I was at my loneliest Dr.Matthews made it a priority to check in on me periodically to make sure I was keeping up with all aspects of my health and life. She is an awesome doctor and very attentive to her clients.

rejected my insurance (blue shield ) simply because i got it through covered CA, what difference does it make if blue shield ensure that the doctor are part of the network and my plan is accepted by their office. i think health care system in the US becoming more and more ridiculous and hard to find a good service.

Requested an optional test that cost over $2500 and didnt even mention the test is pricey. Guess what I didnt even heard a word about the test result after and everytime I called it went to the voicemail! And of course, the first thing I heard from them is the bill!!
