VERY unprofessional staff. I was almost shocked at how unprofessional the staff was. I was in the middle of a severe anxiety attack caused from not being able to breathe, because I had a severe asthma attack the night before and my asthma pump was empty. All I needed was a prescription to refill the pump. They said they cant help me. When I said all I needed was a script for a pump the receptionist rolled her eyes and slide stepped her way to tell the doctor. In what should have been 4 steps to the doctor took this person 15 lazy slide steps. The anxiety that these people were going to refuse me service cause an all out anxiety attack. I completely blacked out. They were forced to provide me with oxygen. After about 10 minutes I was able to regain my whereabouts. They had in the process of giving me oxygen, they called an ambulance for me, which I refused when they arrived. All I needed was a script to get an asthma pump. I didnt need a $500 ride to the hospital. So after I refused the ambulance, which was about 15 minutes from me being in their care, a VERY rude, older, "nurse" said "Well you cant stay here!" ... All I needed was a script to get an asthma pump. I couldnt breathe... Stay away from this terrible excuse of a medical facility.

On Friday, May 15th 2009, my wife was suffering from flu like symptoms and fever. This was/is during the existing "swine flu" alert in Queens. Because pregnancy weakens the immune system, flu and fever call for emergency care. Rather than visit an ER, it was my bright idea to go to First-Med in Bayside Queens. We called ahead and confirmed that if we arrived anytime before 9PM closing, we would be seen. After navigating around slow drivers, traffic, and countless lights, we made it with 5 minutes to spare! This was according to their own clock on the wall and ours. My wife was refused entry as they locked the glass doors and returned her pleas only with smirks. I came and pounded on the door stating that my wife was pregnant, only to be ignored. I guess some people really want to leave work early on a friday night. We felt like beggers for coming on time and wanting to pay for care in a private facility. Later we visited the ER, we were taken care of promptly and with care. We will never visit First Med again. I would advise anyone not to waste time since it means you might be turned away. The ER never turns you away.

Where to start. Lets see. Perhaps from the ruddiness of the receptionists? The average waiting time is in my estimate 75 minutes as I was there at least 6 times (having no other choice as a GHI patient and no transportation) in the past three months. The place is fairly clean (theres mold here and there and some hair hanging on floors) and the doctors seem acknowledged. However. I was there for a flu and visited by one doctor who prescribed me one specific antibiotic for 5 days. I went back after 7 days as I had high fever again, and the second doctor who visited me (keep in mind the doctors are never the same every day they change in a rotation so you dont know who you are going to get when you go there) asked me "who prescribed you this antibiotic?" then he nodded and said "Im going to prescribe you another antibiotic." Unfortunately, I have no choice but to go there when I need urgent care, as I have GHI and thats the closest clinic to my house. If I could I would certainly go elsewhere.

Needed emergency help for my ear which had somewhat abruptly lost most hearing in it and was in severe pain as a result. Got here before they were supposed to close with plenty of time to spare. Found a locked door - plenty of people inside. They didnt answer the phone nor my pleas to get in. Seems they get their pleasure from watching you wince in pain outside of their fishbowl. The hippocratic oath that doctors take has them vow to "Do no harm." They clearly dont take that oath seriously here. Go see a real doctor or to the emergency room. Let these Micky Mouse knockoffs go out of business.

Recently I took my elderly father to Urgent Care for his follow up visit. The first time they had treated him for pneumonia and this visit was to make sure his lungs were clear. I am from Florida and wish the places in Florida would use this facility as a model. Who would expect to walk in and get a smile from the friendly staff (that day Farina and Billy). Caring, responsive team and the doctor was very thorough, even though this was a follow up visit. Maybe we were lucky but we had not wait that morning. I would make First Med the place to get all of my families medical needs.

My family and I Have used the Urgent Care First Med facility for years. Upon arrival I am usually seen wihin minutes. The staff are professional and courteous. They have an x-ray machine with technician and the ability to do blood work. The Physicians take the time to explain the diagnosis and what you need to do to recover. They also give you a courtesy call within a day or two to check on your progress. I highly recommend this facility. Peter Genovese

Why isnt there zero stars for the review? I came to this place with my son whos having pain with a mouth sore inside his lip. They made us wait and when they saw my son they said they cant do anything about it! And then they charged us with urgent care copay! This place is all about money and not care for patients!!!

I had an allergy attack and thought it would be better going there versus a hospital. My ankle blew up and was all sorts of bad. I didnt even make it to see a doctor. The woman upfront at the first med in flushing, was beyond rude and disrespectful. I would rather be in pain than deal with her again.

Clean, friendly reception and compassionate nurse and doctor. I have always had a good experience there. They send prescriptions straight to pharmacy and all your necessary paper work is ready for you at reception. Doctor has very pleasant bedside manner. Very appreciated. Thank you for you help.

Very good service. Considering the time one has to spend waiting in the doctors offices it was very quick. The doctor was very knowledgeable. They have their own labs for quick test if required.

Good parking, fast service, good medical care. My mom needed stitches for a forearm laceration and the doctor was meticulous in caring for the wound and stitching her arm up.
