I recently delivered at LIJ Forest Hills and I wouldnt recommend it, to anyone. The staff was pretty friendly, sometimes they joked amongst each other a little too blatantly/unprofessionally but overall they did treat me nicely. They are building a new section to accommodate more women, supposedly there will be private rooms for recovery, which I highly doubt. During my hospital tour we were told that on an average day each recovery room has 2 women, once in a while there is a "blue moon" and there may be 3 to a room. I guess last week was a blue moon because I had 2 other women with me in my room. If you ask a nurse for something its a 50/50 chance youll get it without having to ask again. I had a natural birth, no epidural, the next day I asked for some Tylenol twice and never received it. The nurse told me she would remove the IV from my hand twice, and never did. It was so uncomfortable I took it out myself because the pulling of the needle was making my hand tender and causing it to bleed. Visiting is 24/7 but between 10pm and 6am they ask that you have 1 visitor and dim your lights. I had a couple of visitors my first night and it was nearing 10pm, so we were literally whispering and making sure not to disturb the other women or their babies in the room and they left maybe 5 minutes past 10. My "roommate" on the other hand had children running back and forth, 6 or 7 visitors at once making all types of noise as if it wasnt a labor RECOVERY room. The next night when she had her lights on high, kids, and husband in the room close to midnight, not even trying to talk softly, I had to complain to the nurses station (which was across the hall) before anyone said something. I found this hospital too exhausting. A pediatrician comes around to your room and gives you his card and asks if you can bring baby to his office across the street in a couple of days. The nurse even vouched for him. I have a pediatrician for my 7 year old son but am looking for a new pediatrician anyways so I thought, if theyre affiliated with a hospital maybe its a worth a visit. I went yesterday, it was horrible. I cant even go into the horrors of how unprofessional it was, or how I feel about even being sent to that place.

My 88 year year old mom was brought in on 6/1/17 after being found by me on her floor of her apartment with severe dehydration. EMS suggested Forest Hills and she was brought there with principal diagnosis of severe dehydration. It took 7 hours to get any IV for fluids and she was in the ER over 30 hours before getting a room. An MRI was ordered on 6/2 and transport came while she was eating lunch so they said they would come back. They did not come back until 72 hours later. In the interim, she was forced to relieve herself in her bed and then wait to be cleaned up because of suspected low back fracture so she was not allowed out of bed or even to use a bedpan. They needed the MRI before allowing her to do that. We saw a doctor one time per day for less than a minute. Despite also giving a history of ulcerative colitis including an attack the evening before this hospitalization they kept attempting to administer colace and laxatives. No one read her chart before coming in and asking the same questions each day. After the MRIs were finally take in the afternoon of 6/5, they advised there was no fracture and she was being discharged. This was in spite of the fact she was 88, bed ridden for 5 days and was now too weak to get out of a chair (mom has always lived alone). There was no time to get an aide because it was 5:30 pm and they could not even provide a wheelchair for me to get her home even though mom was in pain and was limited to a few steps walking. She should have been discharged to rehab but the social worker just sent her home. As expected, mom trying to get out of bed 12 hours and was rushed back to a different hospital. She has been treated appropriately at her current hospital who correctly are working on a discharge to a sub acute short term rehab facility so she gets her strength back and can continue living independently. I never thought I would find a hospital experience worse than Elmhurst but North Shore Forest Hills now takes the award for poor service and improper diagnosis/discharge.

MY HORRIBLE ADVENTURE 1. Waiting at the Emergency Room for over 1 hour until I was finally looked at. 2. Asian male nurse practically shoves the damn needle in ur arm and laughs about it. 3. The Food Is Gross 4. New nurse comes along and says to me that Im getting my room soon. 1 hour later he comes back & tells me "Im getting my room soon again....... 2 hours later he tells me that they are FINALLY cleaning the room and that I should be leaving to go upstairs very soon. (Thank god I didnt hold my breath) 5. The Heart monitor that I was attached to kept going off with a loud Dings every 30 min for the 14 hours I was attached to it and whenever these incompetent nurses pass by I would ask them if they can stop the sound and they would look at me as if Im asking them to solve an algebra problem (How did they pass the test to become nurses is BEYOND me) 6. Im laying down on the bed and this idiot nurse who cant even barely speak English lifts the head portion of the bed and violently lifts my head up thus hurting my neck which is already in pain due to bulging disks. 7. While Rolling me up to my room I felt like I was driving in the El Dorado Bumper cars in Coney Island we must of hit at least 13 objects on the way upstairs. Im surprised I dont have whiplash. 8. finally got in my room around 12:30 am and some Spanish nurse promises me a pillow I wait and wait and wait and finally I had the courage to use the call button for "a pillow" then waited another 10 more minutes for the pillow - but Im glad she got to have her precious "break" heavens forbids if cardiac patients need a little more care. 9. Had come to the hospital with my suit & tie on and now that I had my room I had no choice but to sleep with it on ..... no gown, no socks NOTHING was offered and when I asked the Spanish girl she said "yeah you sleep with your clothes on" 10. WORST HOSPITAL IN QUEENS

I would give them a 0 star if possible. HORRIBLE staff. I honestly dont know how they managed to get a 3 star rating. For a northshore hospital, this hospital falls well below the expected standards. My aunt was admitted here last night as she was in labor and gave birth last night. For starters, the nurse there, would not help clean the vomit of a pregnant woman in labor. Instead she stood to the side as the husband, my uncle, took his wife to the restroom and cleaned her himself. The nurses did not even offer her a new gown until he reluctantly asked. Secondly, the white elderly nurse there was clearly racist and speaking demeaning towards my mother. My mother has been in the country for 20 years and as a practicing muslim, wears a niqab. Just based on her appearance, the nurse refused to answer my mother, rather gave one answer, "I dont understand you, speak english". After the child was born, an hour had passed, and the nurses refused to let the father know the hieght or wieght of the baby. LASTLY, when my uncle arrived there initially, he asked if there was a female attending physician. The staff lied and said yes. At time of delivery, the nurse attempted to do the delivery but eventually they insisted that there was no doctor and if we wanted any, it would be the male doctor. When asked, the nurse replied "the doctor doesnt need to do the delivery, i have an idea of it". If any person is in need of professional care, especially from the labor department, you are better off going to the nearby Jamaica Hospital.
