Last week My boxer,6 1/2 years took a turn for the worst. Of course this was a Sunday night. He was a hemophiliac and had started to bleed internally. We had dealt with this problem before and was always able to control it but this time seemed different. 2 years ago when he first had trouble with this aliment we took him to the emergency vet and after all was said and done the total bill was $3600.00, which was the top end of there estimate. This time I called them and told them that we knew what the dog had so there would be no need for heavy testing and diagnostic work and if they could tell me about what it would cost for a transfusion. The girl on the phone said that it didn’t matter, they would need to do the testing and the low end of the bill would be about $1000.00 but that it would more then likely be around $3800.00. At this point I had to decide if I thought I could get him through the night so we could go to our vet to get the treatment for around $400.00. Well he lived to the morning after sleeping with him all night but just as we were ready to take him he fell over with a cardiac arrest and died. Now I sorry but for these people to say they care is an out right lie. I don’t deny that they should be paid for there time but to charge close to 10 time more then a regular vet is an out right crime. Maybe that’s why we have seen 2 new ER vets open up in the last few years. Must be very profitable. Well as far as I am concerned they killed my boy and should be regulated in the future to only charging 3 to 4 times the reasonable and customary charge for a given service. So my mission and last promise to my dog was to initiate the drive for legislation to do just that. Watch out ER Vets the days of you taking advantage our our love for our pets are limited.

This place almost killed my cat. They had him for 8 days and did not give him proper care. They kept asking for money before they did anything even though they had a credit card on file. They withheld treatment each time our cat needed it, regardless of how many times we told them to provide it. Then they decided that they could only give our cat the care he needed if we paid IN ADVANCE for anything he MIGHT need. One doctor went through his treatment needs thoroughly, then the other doctors failed to follow through with it. Then they lied to us, saying they were providing treatment, but when pressed on it admitted they were only giving him food and water. And even then, they werent feeding him the way he needed; they just put half a can of food in his cage and left him. He needed to be encouraged to eat and watched over when he did so. They were supposed to put a feeding tube in but never did, although they told us they would - so basically they starved our cat. Then, when we rushed back from a business trip in Europe to be with him, they yanked his I.V. out of his arm, tossed him in his carrier and told us to get out. We called the police, rushed our cat to another hospital where they had to put him in ICU due to his critical medical condition. He was severely anemic, low in all nutritional categories, couldnt walk due to lack of nutrients,. He went blind in their care because of unchecked blood pressure. Our cat would HAVE died had we left him there one more night. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THESE QUACKS!!! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS SOAKING YOU FOR MONEY, NOT CARING FOR YOUR PET.

Took my cat in Saturday night. He was having trouble peeing. He was peeing a little & wasnthowling we he went to the bathroom. Still eating & drinking, just walking a little slower. They took him & examined him in the back. which I thought was strange because I thought they would examine him when I was in the room. they told me he had a UTI and it was very serious and that if not treated within 24 to 48 hours it would become toxic in his system. they wanted to catheterize him and do xrays lab and medication and keep them for 48 hours. then they told me it would be $5000 which blew my mind I didnt have $5000 and they told me that for 500 they would catheterize him & send him home. I only had 260 with me. they told me that he said he didnt get any treatment he probably wont make it till Monday so they offered euthanize him for free. mind you he had been perfectly fine that Saturday morning didnt seem like he was in tremendous amount of pain and for them to tell me all this information made me stressed and anxious and I didnt know what to do. so I signed him out against their wishes and told him I would take him to my vet on Monday. so take them to my vet today yes he had a UTI infection but it wasnt as severe as they made it out to be and he was nowhere near need to be put down. and it didnt cost me $5000 to treat him! I have been stressed and crying through the weekend so I will never ever go back to that place again. Im glad I stuck with my instincts and got a second opinion thats what everyone should do before going to this place!

My cat was severely injured by a dog. It was after hours and I found myself on the internet trying to find a vet that was open and where was the best place to take my cat. I read that this place had 5 stars and took my cat here. When I got my cat there he was in poor shape. The staff was friendly to me and to my cat. They made sure to go over my options with my cat’s treatment. I was worried about the cost. I thought because I was taking him to an emergency vet that the cost was going to be insane, but that was not the case here. They presented me with a bill that showed the low end of what treatment he would need and a high end of how much it would cost. They also informed me that they had a program that I could make payments if needed. I felt for the services my cat received that the prices were actually lower then I had anticipated. They were excellent about calling and giving me status updates about my animal. They answered all my questions and even made sure that I had everything I needed to care for him myself at home. They also informed me that they answer the phones 24/7 in case I had any questions. My cat is now on the road to recovery thanks to Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center.

When my dog had her litter, I rushed a fading pup to this clinic in the middle of the night. I had called my regular vet during the day to tell them that something was wrong, but the vet had been "out" and I was told that theyd get back to me before closing (they never did). Anyway, the receptionist on the phone and in person were extremely helpful. The pup wouldnt feed so they initially gave me the items necessary to try and feed the pup myself. It was unsuccessful so I rushed back - the receptionist and the doc tried feeding the pup for me (no luck) so I checked the pup in - and spoke with Dr Pace. He was very sympathetic and offered sound advice regarding the pet. He optioned that there were testing and procedures that could be done, but given the situation that it would be costly and ultimately ineffective. I never felt pressured into unnecessary work and was always given honest and realistic expectations. These people are not trying to make money with unnecessary tests and meds like Ive experienced from another vet. The cashier even waived my exam fee as they were unable to help us with the pup. 10 stars.
