During a trip to Yosemite, our mini-Dachshund hurt his back. Doxies are very susceptible to back injuries. We were far from home and far from our regular vet. I called SJVH and was told to come in right away by Stephanie. Although they were booked solid, she understood the seriousness of the problem and would work us in. We came right in and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Dr. Stocks saw our dog, and I wish he could be our regular vet. He is wonderful! He is knowledgeable and he explained everything to me. He is a "hands-on" vet who did a thorough physical exam of our dog. Because of his expertise in physical evaluation, he was able to make the diagnosis. He did not need to take expensive x-rays or other tests, and said they could be inconclusive. The care plan was conservative, simple, effective and was at the level of the normal "standard of care." Our dog improved immediately, and will be back to his regular routine after about two weeks of rest. I walked away from SJVH greatly relieved and very thankful we were able to find Dr. Stocks in our time of need while we were on vacation. The office staff and vet techs could not have been nicer or more helpful.

We brought are dog in to get his wound treated from a dog fight he got into. They said he needed a surgery are two depending on how the first surgery played out. They told us that it was gonna cost around $900-$1200 bucks. We told them that we could give them a $500 dollar payment upfront and told them we can pay the rest later that same day after we go and barrow some money from some family members. They said they wouldnt touch my dog until we came up with at least $1000 down payment. We asked if they can work with us but they refused. Some of the staff came off rude and didnt seem to care about my dog because we didnt have all the money up front. I wouldnt recommend anybody goes to this animal clinic. We ended up going to Abby pet Hospital and they were alot more professional. They worked with us and started treating my dog before they even knew if had the money or not. So I recommend you go to Arbys instead were they really care about your animals .

Dr. Alfaro seemed to care for my parakeet but after 2 tests and around 150 dollars later- she couldnt figure out what was wrong.. The antibiotic bytril she prescribed seemed to work and I thought my parakeet was getting better.. Then she went downhill really fast and died in my hands a very bad death over the Sunday they were closed.. I am still grieving for my bird, its hard when you spend years working on trust with a bird that smart (unlike our other bird who is just like every other parakeet) I still miss her.. She didnt need to die like that- I brought her in early in symptoms and have seen a bird specialist since who questions the use of that antibiotic Next time I will use a specialist.. But I cant replace my bird, its too late.. She was really special even if she didnt look like much.. I cant really blame the vet though- I just am upset I didnt take my bird to someone more specialized in birds, She couldnt diagnose my bird in time

My mother took her pet rabbit in for its nails to be trimmed on 9/16/2014. When they brought the rabbit out to her they told her that the rabbits back might be hurt and that she would need to give it some pain medicine in the amount of $27.00 not to mention $17.50 for the nails to be trimmed. My mother ask them what happened and they just told her that the rabbit moved around to much and they had trouble trimming its nails and that its back might have been injured. The rabbit is now at home and cannot move. Not sure if the rabbit will make it through the night and my mothers feels bad because she thought she was doing the right thing for the rabbit. She now wishes that she would have never took the rabbit in. They were very unprofessional and should have never even charged her for the injures that they caused. Please think twice before you take your pet to this facilities

My poor baby had an infected tooth. The whole staff was amazing with my dog. She was in a lot of pain and they acted quickly to make her feel better. I am so grateful. I have been out of work for the past month (I now have a new job. YAY!) so it meant that my finances were extremely limited. They did everything they could and worked with my budget. To them, it was all about my baby not about my money. The next day they called me to follow up to see how she was doing. She was struggling. They got us a new prescription and now my baby is on the road to recovery and cant wait to tell them the good news! Thank you to everyone at San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital! You made my Bitty Bit feel so much better! Thank you!

Love this place, really cares and educates pet parents and their pets. Extremely affordable, I have been to other facilities CVH & Abbey, but I have to say the rates of SJVH are far below what these others are and the care that my animals and my family receives are far more superior. With ageing animals having to see the vet more often that my younger ones it has its costs, but SJVH is extremely affordable. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility.

Once again they all were amazing. My bunnies came in contact with some fleas and Dr Alfaro treated them and made me feel at ease. I work for a veterinarian and it was her recommendation to take them to San Joaquin when I needed help before with my bunnies since we dot see them. It is nice to see that kind of relationship between doctors from different practices. I am just overall thankful for them giving such care . I will continue to recommend them

I took my dog in yesterday. Hes not moving and we think he got hit by a cow or car or something. The dr did xrays but didnt find anything. He sent him home with 2 meds and said to call back if he doesnt get better. He got a lot worse! We took him to another dr and he saw with his eyes that he has a spinal cord injury. Not happy that this dr didnt see what another dr saw within 5 minutes.

The staff is caring and kind. Having dealt with Dr. Alfaro, I hold her in the highest regard. She obviously loves animals and it shows with how she treats your pet. She provides excellent insight as she is extremely knowledgeable. I have been to several vets over the years but from the front desk, to the back hospital staff they are super friendly and exceptionally competent!

I take both my dog and my cat here. Having not been happy with many vets in town, Dr Alfaro treats both my animals with love and respect. I would highly recommend them as a primary vet. I find them to be very helpful with explaining everything as well as cost effective. it is also very helpful that they are open on Saturdays. I couldnt be happier with their service.
