SCAM - This place should be investigated by the insurance company. Not only are they ripping off the insurance company but theyre ripping off the customers too. I was asked for my medical card as well upon making the appointment. After checking in the day of my appointment, the receptionist called me over to give me a disclaimer stating if there is something medical about my visit then that would hit my medical insurance and not my vision, resulting in an additional copay. My visit was for a contact lenses. Nothing medical, only that my prescription to the same contacts Ive been wearing for 4 years had run out. I was taken in to see the doctor and thought that everything was normal. I had zero complaints. My eyes dont bother me, I dont have vision problems, and I told him I loved my contacts and they feel great. I guess something about that conversation told him to check and see that I apparently have oily eye lids and he said hell give me something for that. After he said that, I told him I may rub my eyes at night after taking out my contacts and noticed a little oil but that its never been an issue. After the exam, before any contact fitting, he takes me to the receptionist to pay my bill. She throws out some astronomical number like $450 that includes 6 months of contacts. After almost laying and egg, I told the receptionist I needed a complete run down of this insane charge. Turns out they charged my medical insurance too apparently because I have "oily eyes" and that was just enough to put something down so it wouldnt seem like a complete lie to the insurance company. Now they get to bill the insurance and I GET TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL COPAY. The contacts that Ive been wearing for 4 years and have consistently paid between $25-$35 a box are $65 dollars here. Mind you, I have a $100 allowance with my vision coverage. I ask if they will price match and they wont so then I ask if I can just have my prescription and they said that will cost me $25 for them just to write the prescription and take it without getting my contacts through them. IS THIS LEGAL? Theres also a $160 "fitting fee" that theyve so kindly given me a discount on so now its only $80. As shes going through all of these bogus prices and charges I tell her I feel like Ive been cornered and this is a scam. She said this is the only way they can compete. Theyd already hit my insurance for my eye exam so its not like I could go elsewhere. I ended up paying close to $200 that day. Id like to state that I never had a "contact fitting" that I paid $80 for. When I went to pick up my contacts I told them I wanted the $80 back and they tried saying by law they had to charge me... yada yada. I strongly discourage anyone from going here. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM.

This is a horrible place to have your eye/glass service. The woman nurse in the front reception desk is just too rude and too mean to customers. I had an eye exam there, and ordered a pair of new glasses while keeping my current frame. I was told that I can come and get my lenses swapped the next Saturday. I told them that my current lens is broken, I really need to get my new glasses asap. When I went to the appointment I made the next Saturday, the guy who cut lens was not there. There is one lady (black) serve the other customer. I stand by the counter, looking at the flyer while waiting for my turn. After the other customer is done, the lady told me that the guy who cut the lens is not in it, he is going to be late. I asked her if she can give him a call to give me an idea when he is going to show up. The lady made the call. However, she told the guy that "there is a customer stand in front of me, stare at me and want to swallow me.. when can you come". I was shocked as she was making the call in front of me across the counter. After the call, she told me that "the guy is not going to come in today. we will call you Monday to reschedule". As I really need to replace my broken lens asap, moreover, I asked my friends favor to send my kids to their activities as its Saturday morning. Moreover, I work in the city, I can just come to the store on Saturday. So, I want to ask her if they have some backups that maybe another person can cut the lens for me; or if not, do they have contact lens in stock, so that I can take contact lens and leave my glass in store for lens replacement. I was just about to say anything, the lady told me that "I am done with you. I dont want to listen to you", then he started to serve other customers. I told her that "this is not the way you serve the customer, you cant just telling me to leave and call me on Monday to reschedule.." But the lady just pretend dumb, and not talk with me anymore. There are other customers in the store. One old couple shake their head. the nice old lady told me that if you have costco card, just go there... Then the old couple walked out of the store without doing any business with the store. This is definitely a horrible place. Never go there!!

I want to share my experience at the New England Eye Care in Norwalk CT because of how impressed I was with the service the crew provided to me. Allow me to start off from the beginning. Something got in my eye causing major discomfort which lead me to seek medical help. The day I went to get care for my eye I first went to Urgent Care in Norwalk CT and once the Doctor identified the problem, the Doctor recommended for me to see an Optometrist. After contacting my wife she referred me to New England Eye Care due to the fact that shes a patient of theirs. I agreed to go there since it was close to me and having a watery eye with the pain increasing after each time I blink, left me the one option. When I got there the front office door was locked, office opens at 11am and it was 10:50am. One of the crew members saw me standing outside the door and walked over and unlocked the doors. Then I stated that Im here to setup an appointment and right then and there the Optometrist on site said "we can take you in now even though my first appointment is about 30 minutes from now". The paper work was simple to fill-out didnt take time at all and I was in the room with the Doctor instantly. Even though I was in pain I felt comforted, everything was explained to me as I was being cared for. Once I was done the Doctor and his crew brought it to my attention that based on their observation with my body language they were not going to let me walk with the discomfort I was experiencing. I walked out with relief, gained back my focus and felt confident knowing where to go for eye care. Thank you New England Eye Care in Norwalk CT. Sincerely, Andre
