Four months ago we began treatment for Busters chronic cough at Oakhurst. The early treatments were steroids and antibiotics. Two months into this regime Buster was ballooning from the steroids. The treatments were changed by Dr. Amber to an opioid cough pill. This pill was marvelous. It was easy to administer and effective. When that prescription ran out we found that the pill would no longer be available. A liquid, cherry flavored alternative was available. This liquid is hard to administer and not as effective because of the way it must be given. This liquid is 74 dollars a bottle. I requested 5mg hydrocodone pills to make it easier for my 13 year old rescue dog to take. Note: this is the same medicine without the added poisons. Dr Donovan came back with my Busters care plan and told me, as she rolled her eyes back, that she would not let me have the available pill form of this medicine. We work in geriatrics. We work with Hospice on a daily bases. Our dog is old. He has been abused in his past and we are looking for a doctor that is interested in my Busters comfort and well being. We felt no real love or compassion. We were offered over priced dog supplements and unnecessary treatments for the care of his cough. His cough keeps him from resting. Sometimes it leaves him exhausted. It seems money rules this place. Dr Donovan, We are never coming back. Cheryl L Bledsoe, BSN, RN Douglas A. Bledsoe, LPN PS, We drive by six vets to get to your shop. Good By.

I love this place....! Everyone here is so incredibly nice AND patient - and with my two girls (Hobbes and Maggie), I need folks who are loving and patient. I have gone to 2 other vet locations and so happy I found Oakhurst Vet. Years ago I went to a vet in Madeira Beach when I found Maggie sprawled out on the floor when I got home from work. I rushed her into the vet as soon as I could, by the end of the day I picked her up and was told that they gave her some fluids, but if she isnt better by the morning to bring her back. I am not even CLOSE to knowing about animal health, but Ive got a TON of common sense and *KNEW* there was something serious going on and she wouldnt be "better" by the next day. I made an appt the next day with Oakhurst and after a week of fluids, medicine, etc and so forth, they had Maggie back up and running. Had I not taken her there, she would have died THAT week. Shes diabetic, which I deal with, but now she also has to get fluids via an IV twice a week. Well, no way I could do that - the IV needle is as big as a javelin, so I take her in to Oakhurst Vet and the WONDERFUL Vet Techs take care of her for me. They have ALWAYS treated my girls with care and they are patient with their mother. Love this place and am so grateful they are available.....

I came to Oakhurst Vet by recommendation from a friend after my senior husky-mix recently suffered her first and very violent full blown seizure. She had been having symptoms and odd behavior for over a year, but I never really got answers from the 2 other vets I had been going to over that time. I had basically just been told it was old age, it could be a brain tumor, etc. Oakhurst Vet provided me so much more information, insight, and care than I had even felt I received before for my senior pup. Dr. Tollon and Dr. Bonasera are very knowledgeable, personable, and great Vets. I felt that I could communicate my thoughts, concerns, and felt that they really listened and explained things. Ive had so many visits with my 2 previous vets and it wasnt until talking to Dr. Tollon and Dr. Bonasera that I learned the odd behaviors that my pup had been experiencing were actually tremors and mild seizures. They rxd a low dose drug to help alleviate those symptoms with room to increase as we monitor her, if needed. I would definitely recommend Oakhurst Vet to anyone who loves their furry baby like family! Thank you Dr. T and Dr. B!

Weve been with Oakhurst for several years, and weve always been happy going there. But it was April of this year when we truly understood the compassion and dedication of the professionals at Oakhurst. Our beloved 13 year-old golden retriever "Manny" was declining, and when the time came, we felt such love and support from the team at Oakhurst. We were such a wreck when we took him in on Saturday morning, April 15, that I really dont know the names of everyone who took care of us. Suffice to say that our sweet Manny crossed the Rainbow Bridge that morning easily and peacefully, thanks to the wonderful loving people at Oakhurst; they made an extraordinarily difficult experience tolerable. We cant say enough about the love we felt on that Saturday morning. These people are the best!

Very carrying staff and doctors. Ive been going there for 15 years and have tried two other vet offices but have stuck with this one. Recently my svc. partner and lifeline started a new journey and i rushed him up there not knowing why just all of the sudden. Arrived at 7:30 & they didnt open till 8 but my son went and knocked on the door and they came to see what he needed and probably to say we dont open till 8. But instead flagged me I and put him on oxygen immediately. Dr. Tinsdell was the kindest person. They let me go to the oxygen room hold him while he changed worlds, take as long as i needed which i did. Their on park from gulf blvd is the 2nd light on right. Their the best.

This place is amazing (the entire staff is wonderful) and Dr. Marie Raver is at the top of Veterinarians Ive encountered. She is attentive, extremely knowledgeable and her attention to detail is on point. She is thorough when answering questions and doesnt push unnecessary test or procedures. Ive searched for years and Im happy to say Ive finally found a place and person I trust for my dogs. I highly recommend Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Maria Raver.

Dr Tyndall and the entire staff are amazing! Always caring and always gentle with our furry babies. Weve been going to Dr. Tyndall for years now - but all of the doctors here are extremely knowledgeable and caring as well.

Been bringing my pets here for years, and theyre like family. Very helpful and the vets give you a lot of good information on pet care. They also send you a report card of the visit. A bit pricey though.
