Our dog was viciously attacked while boarding here. We boarded our dog here for 5 nights around Thanksgiving -- our first time at Vet at Blueridge. When I called to confirm a pickup time on her last day, I was informed that she had been viciously attacked by another dog. Apparently, a bigger dog broke through a gate and jumped on our dog. The dog bit her left ear in several places and left a sizable tooth puncture in her back. When I picked her up, they explained what happened and I remained calm, even though my wife and I were worried and upset. The vet tech explained that we had to give our dog antibiotics and use iodine to clean her wounds. Then, the vet tech had the nerve to give me the total cost. She wanted us to actually PAY for having our poor dog attacked. Really? I was kind of in shock that this was even suggested. I told her that there was no way we were paying after what had happened and she got visibly angry, saying, "Thats what you think is right?!?!" Yes, thats what I think is right. Your job as a boarding facility is to make sure our dog is fed and safe. Thats it. You failed at your job. Youre lucky that we arent taking legal action. She continued giving me her terrible attitude and tried to stare me down with an angry look on her face. When I stared right back at her, she forced a fake, sarcastic smile. She brought the vet himself into the room and we talked. He was actually apologetic and nice, which was the only thing preventing me from taking further legal action. The vet seems like a nice, reasonable man, but he should really do a better job of hiring nice, reasonable people. This clearly isnt about the money. We wouldve gladly paid 4X the amount to know that our dog was safe and well taken care of. We were about as understanding as loving dog owners could be in this situation. Accidents happen -- we understand that. But a) They shouldve called to let us know what happened; and b) The vet tech should not have, under any circumstances, taken an attitude with me, the owner of a dog who already has anxiety issues and was just attacked by some vicious dog that wasnt properly secured. I dont think this place is always bad. At least, I hope our case was an exception. Just be aware that at least one dog has been viciously attacked while left in Vet at Blueridges care.

I cannot recommend a better place, veterinarian, or staff to see my animals. I have used The Vet at Blue Ridge since 2006. Dr. Farrar performed two knee surgeries on my pitbull, Baby, and both times her recovery was amazing and she was better than before. She passed last Spring (after many, many years barreling around with those new knees) and the staff at The Vet at Blue Ridge couldnt have been more accommodating to our needs in helping us with referral of cremation services and anything else we needed. Then last Summer, we inherited an elderly Golden Retriever (Eddie) when my dad suddenly passed and I wouldnt think of taking him anywhere but the best. Dr. Antley was the one to see Eddie when we first brought him in, and I absolutely love her as well! We also have a cat that has seen a few stitches and hospital stays from a coyote attack (she is now strictly indoors!). I have since moved to Winterville, and still make the drive to Watkinsville simply because the care and attention to detail is top notch! The staff is very knowledgeable and make sure to answer any questions you have. If you want to take your beloved four-legged family member somewhere the staff and doctors are in it for the right reasons, this is your place.

DO NOT take your animals here! The staff is so unfriendly. I have been hung up on twice by the girl that works the front desk. The first time I brought my dog there she was an 8 week old puppy. I ask if it was okay for me to drop her off to have her shots and they informed me that would be fine. So I did just that and about 10 min after I left, I received a call from the girl at the front desk and she said "where are you?" I was like I told you I had to run a few errands and yall were fine with that so I will be back shortly. She said well your dog will not stop crying and is disturbing the rest of the animals in here. I said okay I am sorry, she is just a 8 week old puppy so she is probably scared but I am on my way back. The girl said ookay well we need you to get here quickly and hung up on me. So I give people the benefit of the doubt and thought well maybe she is just having a bad day. She is rude every single time I bring my dog in there. We will not be using the Vet at blue ridge any longer. I have never experienced people that seem to not care about your animal at an actually vets office. The only reason I gave them one star is because I did not have a choice

Vet recommended that we give our dog Claritin for allergies/rash. We had some at home, so we gave it to him. Two hours later, he was acting very weird, so I googled it and found out the Claritin-D is toxic to dogs. If a vet is going to recommend an OTC human drug, he needs to be VERY clear if a one-letter difference is the difference between life an death. We had to go to the Animal ER, push fluids, stay overnight, etc-- $600 later, pup was home. I called the next day and talked to Dr. Glen and he said "I knew you shouldnt have given it to him- it just didnt occur to me that you would give him Claritin-D. All I can say is Im sorry." While I appreciate the apology, it doesnt soothe the sleepless hours of worry that I had inadvertently nearly killed my dog and that it cost us $600 when all he had to say was "make sure you dont get Claritin-D." While it may be one small oversight, it was a very significant one and we wont be returning to this vet.

Proud to have been part of The Vet at Blueridge staff. Am I bias to give a 5 star review? Absolutely not! I took pride every shift knowing that the clients/pets that walked through our doors were getting the best medical care and attention they sought out. When walking through our doors, we treat you as family. Youre not just another name to be filed later, youre our hearts. We laugh with you and cry with you. We attach ourselves to your fur babies and bring their spirits home at the end of the day. Dedicated, knowledgeable, and focused driven. This is the 5 star experience you will gain when walking through those doors. Anyone can write a review. My advice, experience means more.

I would say I am one of the most qualified people to leave a review for Vet at Blueridge- I have been taking my "babies" there for 20 years. The vets and staff are some of the most ethical, caring people I have ever known. Drs. Glen and Beth always go out of their way to explain every symptom, treatment and reason for doing what they do. They (and their staff) are also very kind to my animals and are always gentle and soft-spoken with them, which means so much to a pet mom. Knowing that they always have my pets health and happiness at heart has kept me there this long. They are Awesome! (4 dogs, 4 cats, 20 great years)
