These nurses, doctors and etc. are rude and could care less if you die or not..My brother was in a bad head on accident on April 6, 2016 and was released from the hospital within 4days....He injured his eye, leg, ankle and knee and also ruptured his spleen..My aunt and I took him back to Lakeland Hospital on April 14, 2016 to have his eye checked as his stitches were coming out and he was also concerned with sudden bleeding from the rectum area. While there, he also wanted his knee to be dressed again because the bandages were coming off and he didnt want it to get infected....Also, he was having stomach pains and wanted to have that checked again as well...Registered nurse Christine Blackburn was assigned to him...She was so rude to him. The Entire time we was there, she didnt even want to touch him. However she was friendly to the patient (Caucasian Female) next to him and had no problems touching her or answering her questions respectfully....When my brother inquired if she can change his bandages on his leg while he was there, she was very mean to him and said she wouldnt and raised her voice at him as well....At that point we noticed her having a bad attitude, but still tried to give her the benefit of the doubt.. Next my brother had to use the restroom (urinate) and asked for one of the plastic hospital jugs to urinate in since they had requested him to undress himself upon entering the room. She shoved the plastic jug to him..After he finished urinating, she never came back to the room to check on him or even dump it out. I then seen her sitting in a chair playing with her phone and on Facebook. I inquired from her, where does the plastic jug go? She yelled at me very loudly, stating " TAKE IT TO THE RESTROOM AND DUMP IT!" I then inquired from her, where is the restroom located at because I dont know. She raised her voice again and stated, "OVER THERE!" She then proceeded on with being on Facebook on her phone...Not one time, did she ever come to check to see if my brother was okay, but continued to come in and check on the patient next to him...At this point I asked another worker to send a supervisor to report her rudeness and to also report we were now uncomfortable with her doing anything as it relates to my brothers injuries.... The supervisor that came out to speak with us was Registered Nurse Jaris. He took forever (over 30 minutes) to come out to speak with us. He also ended up being the one to dress my brothers leg with new bandages. Although we reported our concerns, he appeared to still take her side to a certain extinct.. At one point, he raised his voice as well towards me while I was making the complaint but then quickly apologized. This is not how service should be when a person attends a hospital. I will definitely complain further than just this review as I would like to ensure that this doesnt keep happening...Obviously, this hospital has some serious issues that need to be addressed because their reviews are extremely low. If I can give them no stars, I would, but that option is not given

In February 2012, I had two stents placed in my heart. That procedure went well. It was while in recovery that my experience turned horrible. Against my will and my verbal protestations, I was catheterized. When that catheterization went wrong, as my urine had turned bloody, a second catheterization was performed, again, against my will and verbal protestations. After I was released, I was given several prescriptions, none of them an antibiotic to stave off any possible infection that might occur from the forced catheterization. A week or so later, I had a bloody, painful discharge when I urinated and ended up having to go to Bartow Regional Medical Center, where it was discovered an infection had taken place. I had to undergo yet another catheterization, as now I could not pass water because of blood clots in the bladder. That second round cost me slightly more than $1,000, which I had to pay out of my pocket; the portion not covered by my insurance. When I wrote Lakeland Regional Medical Center about having been catheterized against my will and verbal protestations I not be catheterized, in their internal investigation, they claimed the three medical personal said they did not believe I was serious when I was shouting they were not to catheterize me. In addition, Lakeland Regional Medical Center denied responsibility and refused to reimburse me, even though had an antibiotic been prescribed it might have been possible they second need to be catheterized, this time at Bartow Regional Medical Center, could have been avoided. To add insult to injury (yes, pun intended), I sent letters (via both regular mail and and registered, signed, return receipt) to LRMC CEO Eileen Thompson, and two others. I never received a response. These people who run the hospital are not people I hold in any esteem. They can blather all they want about how caring they are, how their facility has the latest in technology, etc., etc. But as far as I am concerned, I will never, ever knowingly go there, and I do not recommend LRMC to anyone else, as if is my opinion based upon my experience that they shirk responsibility for any misdeeds on their part unless they are sued or a governing body weighs down on them with the threat of sanctions. In one other situation, a friend of mine was diagnosed with a form of cancer and the doctors told my friend that death would occur in six months. Fortunately for my friend, another friend stepped into the picture and got ahold of several doctors with the Moffit Center, in Tampa. My friends cancer was halted and reversed. As I see it, the doctors at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, rather than refer my friend to another facility that specializes in cancer treatment, didnt care for my friends well-being; either that, or those doctors did not care to keep current. What do you have to say for yourself, Eileen, as well as the board of directors?

Was on vacation and went in with a broken jaw and was told that is was fractured in 4 places after a CT scan, despite the fact that I could physically feel fully broken bones inside my mouth with my tongue. My chin was stitched up without my beard hair surrounding being shaved (which flabbergasted the real doctors I eventually went to elsewhere, and created difficulty and some infection). I then spent a few more hours lying there while I listened to the man next to me get a very forceful catheter insertion because he couldnt pee as 4 people stood around him and told him to do so. They just kept threatening him with it if he didnt go on his own (while they stood there watching mind you) and eventually held him down and just did it. Sounded horrible. I was referred to what was described as "the best oral surgeon in central Florida" and was discharged, being told that I could probably wait 7-10 days to get it fixed if I needed to. Next day I went to this expert and was told by him that the hospital really has no idea what theyre doing and refers patients without any consultation with his staff, he was not able to help because of insurance (not what his staff said on the phone) and did not operate even though I was told not to eat for 12 hours beforehand. After all this, my mother booked me a last minute flight back to Iowa where the U of I Hospital has a reputation for great care. I went in at 10am the next day and was in surgery by 1pm. The doctor said there was some infection that could have really complicated things, and that if they had waited any longer I would have had permanent damage to my jaw and bite as well. Not only did this DIRECTLY CONTRADICT LRMCs diagnosis, it turns out that that there were so many shattered pieces of bone that there really wasnt even a way to count them all. Very different from the "4 fractures" that were described at LRMC, who also said I probably wouldnt even need to have my jaw wired shut at all (its week 4 of 8 with the wires on btw). I really had no idea that the care I received at LMRC was so bad until I encountered real professionalism elsewhere. Everyone within the medical field that I describe my care at LMRC to was blown away by how they handled it. One of the nurses in Iowa was actually from Tampa, and when I told her I went to LMRC she looked shocked and said "Oh no, Im glad youre okay! You should have just driven to Tampa, or anywhere else." In the end, Im eternally grateful I didnt spend anymore time at LMRC than I did, and its a valuable lesson for the future to always have an idea of the best care in the area when on vacation, before anything bad happened. Also very thankful to my girlfriend and her mom being there with me the whole time in Florida, based on these other reviews it seems that the quality of care really drops off when no one is watching....
