4-13-16 WOW! What a bad experience..I have had all my pets in the care of Dr. Howell and staff for many years and loved this office..WHAT JUST HAPPENED! I just stopped by to get my little chihuahua a pedicure as usual and when we pulled in there was 6-8 staff members outside the grooming door..When we got out of the car all staff ran inside and locked the door. a very young rude skinny male kid with black hair opened the door just enough to yell "we are closed" and than locked it again and when I said excuse me I just saw you all out here and I am here to get the nails done.. he said " NO! we were only here for a meeting and we were outside smoking..and yes I was outside too! (who cared if he was one of them, I did not ask).. This kid was as rude as a street punk.. as I turned away and was walking to my car shaking my head the kid was still yelling at my back and I kept walking..Im thinking OMG!.. Than I got in the car and as I was leaving I stopped the car because the WHOLE CREW WAS BACK OUT THERE AGAIN! "smoking "... I rolled down my window and said quote.. "Your rudeness is uncalled for and you will be reported to the owner"..as I was pulling away a blue haired punk said I am the manager so you wont get very far..LOL LOL etc. wow..I kept going to the street and was waiting for the cars to go by and pull out and I see in my rear view this blue haired punk RUNNING to my car waiting to get out on Seminole Blvd...he sticks his head in my window and says "I am the manager here! (He had already made that clear by the door) and we were outside smoking because we were having a meeting and we are closed whats your problem.. I said "the rudeness".. he said I want to know your name so I can make sure you never have service here again and again I am the manager I will remember your face and will make it happen"...(he must be proud of this and feel empowered by the word mgr)..Needless to say my response was not what he was expecting and than he really went smart ass punk style in my window until I finally got to pull out!!! Wow I had never been called a Fing Cu** before... Now because this was so unbelievable you could be thinking was that what REALLY happened?? The answer is YES and there was 6-8 staff members in scrubs who can verify IF they tell the truth to Dr. Howell who will hopefully see this post and ask them. Dr Howell IS a great doctor and that was a shame. (If this blue hair punk is the manager I obviously cannot call the office to talk to Dr.Howell but I will TRY tomorrow... 4-14-16 In response to the "Owners Response" Its your story and you may fabricate any way you wish. My intention was clear in the office and that was to tell and show the REAL version to doc. Was he there when this happened? Is this really Doc Howell? Because if this is him..why not speak to your long time client in person or on the phone? Why hide and why not professionally come out or call? I suspect this is not the doc in fact I would bet its the punk because doc would not make up his own version on the facts so bluntly given doc being so respected in the community he should care about his reputation if he think my words are false. You know my number and again are welcome to call at any time at no risk to you in any way what so ever.

My son recently adopted a Chihuahua and quickly discovered that the dog was sick. He originally had him seen at an animal hospital in Dunedin where the veterinarian had him on an antibiotic for three weeks with no signs of improvement. We then took him to Dr. Howell after receiving a strong positive recommendation from friends. When I called him on Friday afternoon and asked for an appointment, I thought for sure that we would have to wait until Monday to be seen. They gave Esteban an appointment for 4:30. . My son works in Oldsmar and I was able to take him for treatment while he was at work. We did have to wait for a while that afternoon for him to be seen but the staff was caring and helpful and Dr. Howell was nothing short of terrific. Dr. Howell spent a great deal of time carefully checking the puppy over and listening to his heart and lungs. After x-rays and blood tests, it was clear that this puppy had an advanced case of pneumonia and would need additional care for quite awhile. Whenever I have taken the puppy in for treatments, I am impressed by the level of care that is shown to all of the patients there. You cannot help but notice that if you are in the waiting room or an examining room each animal being seen is receiving quality care and attention (no grumbling patients or owners here). I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Howell and his staff to anyone who is in need of expert animal care. The Midway Animal Hospital is not a glamorous facility but the level of excellence, experience and expertise is fantastic.

Weve always had excellent care from Dr. Howell, and hes been or only Vet. for over 10 years now. He has gone through a lot of staff changes over the past 3~4 years, and in some cases weve found not really for the better, but when people move far away, they have to be replaced. Find the follow up by office staff is a little lacking compared to what it used to be, but this falls on the office manager and not directly onto Dr. Howell. It looks as if hes changed some staff again recently, so hopefully things will be taken care of more promptly within the office itself. As for pricing, the cost of Vet services has increased everywhere, if you cant afford to buy insurance to cover any major problems that may come along over the years, do you really think you should have a pet who looks to you for their well being? Trust me, I know, $37- a month is a lot easier to pay, than over $4000, and the pet then dies anyway, through NO FAULT of the Vet. Dr. Howell is the best in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area in my book! All of the above still applies 7 years later. And, yes, office staff has much improved over the past few years as well. Do not go to this Vet if you love your animals. The office assistant aggressively tried to twist my elbow into giving her my animals. She freely gave her opinion over serious matters, acting as if she was a vet They had some serious colds, and when I called the vet to get some advice 2 times to change medication (which were not working), she failed to pass on the information. This resulted in a very sad situation for the animal. She never apologized for harming the pet by her neglect, she instead decided to plot in other ways to get her incompetent hands on it. Their diagnosis was completely wrong as well. After charging exuberant fees, not checking up on messages to call, and general prejudice, it took a visit to another vet who tested carefully. The other vet came up with a completely different diagnosis which saved my animals life.
