Ive been to another two optical shops first, and I was pissed off by their service! Ive been ignored and badly serviced at the other two. But Eye Shoppe is the place where Ive been welcomed and kindly treated! I enjoyed a great time at the Eye Shoppe! Their service is the best, and Dr Liu is great! I didnt have problem with my eyes until months ago. The first clue was I cannot see the guard board clearly like before. Then weeks ago, my doctor told me I need to check my eyes after annual physical exam. Because I was about to have class one week later, so I only considered the doctors I could have eye exam as soon as possible. At first I went to Elegant Eyes at Newark where I could just walk in. The receptionist ignored me for an hour because I have some "problem" with my insurance and lend no help from beginning to end. I had to call my husband for the customer service number and then figured the "problem" out by myself. One hour later, after the customer service helped the receptionist pulled out my insurance, I had to go for other appointment without receiving any service there. Then on the following day, I was at Hoboken for other things, so I found Wise Vision was available for the eye exam on the same day. I arrived minutes ahead. Again the receptionist had problem with my insurance because the Elegant Eyes at Newark held my insurance. So I spent minutes calling customer service to cancel it. Then, the receptionist rejected my appointment! Yes, she turned me away at 4:07 pm while my appointment was at 4:00, and she pulled out my insurance at 4:05. I argued with her that I was not late for the appointment and even was there ahead. Then she compliant that I should be there 15 minutes ahead! Why she didnt mention it ahead on the phone! The only "help" she gave me was she could put me in if the next customer at 4:30 wont come....Of course the next customer came in, and Ill never schedule another appointment there! I had to have the eye exam because I dont have time after that. I googled online and knew there are others doctors nearby. So I just walked around to see any lucky. After two trials, I walked into Eye Shoppe without any hope. But lady at the service counter could put me in in just few minutes, and she was the ONLY person helping me figuring out all the "problems". It turns out that I should give my husbands information instead of mine because I am the dependent and my husband is the policy holder. And she is the ONLY one who helped me to call the customer service to pull the records and to cancel the held at Wise Vision (when I left Wise Vision, I asked them to cancel the held. And they didnt!). Dr. Liu is great too! When he found out that its my first time having vision problem, he explained every detail to me. What happened to my vision, what kind of problem my vision suffers, what will happen to my vision and brain if I wear glasses or will not, what kind of symptoms I will have to get used to at the beginning of wearing my first pair of glasses. I planned to take the prescription to retailers. But their wonderful service made me change my mind. The lady at the service desk gave me the best service Ive ever had. She spent tens of minutes helping me find my favourite frame. I nearly tried most of the frames in their store! And she even gave me great discount on my first pair of glasses. Maybe I wont have confidence to give high marks on Eye Shoppe if I didnt went to other two. But thanks to their awful service, I realized how great Eye Shoppe is! I highly recommend Eye Shoppe! I definitely will come back and recommend it to my friends.

Maybe this is an isolated case but to my convenience I had scheduled my two oldest daughters for a contact lens exam and my youngest for eyeglasses. I get a call from a woman that says shes in charge and wanted to confirm our appointments. She then stated we needed to fill out more paperwork in which we had already filled out electronic paperwork on zoc doc. She then tells me my oldest two daughters which already had contacts before have to take a $60 class on how to wear contacts, Ive never heard of this from other past visits at other place in our old hometown . Im disappointed in this place what a waste of time. Definitely not a reputable place. UPDATE ! you can see by their response that they are full of themselves. They had no Idea which one of my daughters was getting which test, even though it clearly states it on the electronic forms that I took the time to fill out, which they dont even read. The office is filled with over priced cheap imported frames from china and once again their response clearly shows why you should go somewhere else. No one yelled at your front staff, I did say for her to go screw herself after I informed her to cancel all 3 appointments and her reply was ok thank you, and if this is the Doctor responding to my comment then sir you are clearly in the wrong business, learn how to take critizism and deal with customers more effectively. YES I WILL STAY AWAY !

Let me preface this with Ive never had an eye exam before but am now of an age where my eyesight seems to be a little worse for wear when it comes to reading/using my phone/staring at a computer screen! So I really didnt know what I needed in terms of eye testing, what to arrange and what details to provide. I work in Hoboken and have walked past this place several times and thought wow looks very professional... I myself am a professional who deals with customers every day and know the importance of customer service esp to new customers by a local business... . So the shop looks great.. but thats where the good review ends as I didnt even get past the front door... Wow unbelievably poor customer service. Rude and patronizing over the phone to the point of insulting. The nightmare of dealing with them in regards to insurance was infuriating. Now I know these things are often messy and the details need to be worked through, but to do so in such an arrogant, rude manner was what got me so annoyed/offended. I cancelled my appointment in the end as I would rather give my business to a local provider that is interested in their customers and wish to help them through an often stressful and confusing process

You get what you pay for. The eye exam was very thorough and even fun. Dr. Mike has an engaging professionalism which puts you at ease. He also picks up on other potential health issues that the eyes can indicate, and thought this was a first for me when getting my eyes tested, I did appreciate hearing. Note to self: must schedule my next physical ASAP.Eye Shoppe service is excellent. I have had horrible recent experiences, so I speak with authority. Uri, my technician, assisted me patiently and with humor through the lengthy process of selecting the type of frames best suited to my facial contours and short nose bridge. Stephanie and Lucy were also very competent and offered helpful advice and second opinions. My new glasses arrived exactly on time as promised, one week later. I got a final fitting and everything went unbelievably smoothly. Im still in shock that the whole process took only one week and Ive been happily wearing my glasses for a couple of weeks. Eye Shoppe doesnt come cheap, but they did offer me a good deal. Lucky for me, theyre located right in my neighborhood and near to the Hoboken terminal.
