I havent had many experiences with a veterinarian as our dog is only a year old, but I can imagine they will only improve. We just moved to Texas from Iowa a few weeks ago, and have been very impressed with how friendly everyone has been. Walking into this establishment was like walking into a completely different state. We had our house treated for pests, and that night our dog was acting strange. She was eating grass, coughing, and vomiting. The pest company said that the chemicals were safe for kids and pets, but we were still concerned, so I looked up emergency vets as it was around 10pm. I called this place, and they told me that she is likely okay, but it is our judgement call and our options were to call pet poison control or bring her in. I looked online at pet poison control and there was a fee, so I figured I might as well take her into see a vet. I got to the office, and after about 10 minutes was in a room. A woman came in and said, "Did I talk to you on the phone? Did you call poison control?" I told her no, I decided to have her seen. She blatantly said, "I told you to call poison control. You need to call." I questioned her, because it doesnt make sense to bring her to the vet and sit there while on the phone with another veterinarian. She said, "Okay, dont worry. Ill go talk to the doctor and tell them you didnt call poison control." Incredibly rude. Shellie, I see you read these, her name was Cat. She walked out of the room and was gone for five minutes. Meanwhile, it sounded like somebody was running and jumping into the walls in the room next to me. It was rattling everything on the counter and the lights were flickering. Still not sure what was happening in there. A different lady came back into the room and explained that I needed to call poison control and get a case number, and that they make the clients call because they charge vets a higher amount when they call. I talked to the vet on the phone, and this was a blatant lie. At this point not only is this place unprofessional, but they are liars. I paid the $50 to pet poison control and the guy told me that it sounds like it will pass as the chemicals are not too harmful. I learned more from poison control than I did from this clinic. I got my case number and waited about 10 minutes before the vet tech came in. He did a great job. He was quick once he came in, and good with the dog. He left and grabbed the doctor. Dr. Mikula was unprofessional, very brash, and gives the impression that he doesnt care. He asked what was wrong and I said, "Im not sure, we had our house treated for pests today and shes just been acting strange ever....." He interrupted me and said, "Strange how...?" Well, I was getting there but apparently he was in too big of a hurry to listen. I explained the rest of the issue and he asked the vet tech to let my dog out of the kennel. He ended up scolding the vet tech because my dog was wiggling around too much and he couldnt complete his exam as quickly as he was hoping. He completed his assessment and didnt appear too concerned. He said, "You could do X-Rays, we could keep her overnight, give her some shots, monitor her... Ill give you an estimate on pricing." He left go create the estimates, and while he was gone that obnoxious room shaking occurred again. Im not sure if it was someones animal or this guy punching the walls. When he came back with the estimate there was a low and a high end, the low being around $150, and the high being about $500. Since the doctor wasnt concerned, I asked if we could just do one of the shots on the estimate, and take her home to rest. That was what we did, but not before I signed a release document stating that Im going against his recommendations. He didnt recommend anything, just told me a bunch of things that could help. I paid these guys $150 for 30 minutes of their time and none of their help. My dog is still not doing well but I refuse to take them back to this place. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

This information entails our devastating experience that my dog, my parents and I had at Mercy. Currently, I am in Los Angeles for work. About a month ago my parents noticed that Zara (3 year-old German Shepherd) was experiencing discomfort and pain. She became very weak and could barely walk. Her hind legs tremble; tail is always between her legs; she cries and moans and does not eat nor drink much. Right away we knew something wasnt right. It is uncommon for Zara not to be energized and chasing butterflies. We were referred to Town & Country by MERCY ANIMAL CRITICAL CARE. The vet from Mercy said Zaras pain was in relation to her female cycle. Our bill at Mercy came out to $400. Mercy then referred us to Town & Country. We took her to Town & Country off of 1604. We saw this location had good reviews. However, we did not receive the 4 1/2 Yelp star experience that we were hoping for. This vet totally misdiagnosed Zara. They then said her pain was due to constipation. We could tell the vet was uncertain with her diagnose nor seemed to have taken her symptoms seriously. We were puzzled and disappointed. A tremendous let down after the reviews gave us hope. Our bill at this vet came out to $400 as well. A HUGE misdiagnoses from both Mercy and Town & Country. Just this morning we took Zara to get an MRI that another vet urgently referred us to because constipation nor her cycle had no relation to her pain. Turns out she has lost complete vision in one eye and has a spinal disease which was caused by an infection. This infection can either be 50/50 or fatal. Had we caught it sooner, we could prevented this heartache. Today, we have spent a total of $2,000 for inaccurate, inefficient and appalling results. Now, were at a point where theres no hope for her...we have to put her down. Every minute is precious when it comes to saving our pets. If we dont catch the issue in a timely matter...we can lose them. It is devastating knowing we wasted so much time and energy taking her to first Mercy followed by YOUR referral to Town & Country when we should have taken her else where in the first place. My heart will forever have a very deep and unfixable hole.

Ive been here once before very late at night for my cat. They took a very long time but customer service was decent. Today I called because my 9 week old dachshund got ahold of roach bait and ate quite a bit of it along with all the plastic. It was during the day and my vet was closed for lunch so they werent returning for a while. I decided to call here because that was the vets recommended emergency service and I felt comfortable enough to be a returning customer. When I called a lady answered the phone (I dont remember her name but I feel it was Mary) and I explained to her what happened. I immediately get a rude response and a raised voice saying "Thats poison you need to make her throw up!!". While Ive had to do this to bigger pets in the past, I wasnt too comfortable with the idea considering my puppy is only three pounds and swallowed plastic which I would imagine would hurt very bad coming up. She told me to give her at least 1 tablespoon of peroxide which to me sounded like a lot for a three pound puppy. I continued to explain Im not comfortable with handling the situation on my own thus leading me to call Angel of Mercy. I asked if I could just bring her in and she rudely (again) replied that their facility did not open until 6pm and said I needed to go elsewhere. All of her responses were extremely rude and felt very much intended for me to feel stupid as if Im supposed to know they dont open until 6 yet answer the phone; or put emphasis on "thats poison" which is obvious but she still had to make it seem as if I dont know what roach bait is. After a huge waste of time on the phone with a rude receptionist that didnt seem concerned for my babys well being but rather make sure she makes me feel smaller than her, I found the lovely 24 hour Pet Emergency Center on Broadway and 281. They were very accommodating and DID NOT make my puppy throw up due to the fact she swallowed plastic (a given). Yet instead sent her home on a high fiber diet to pass the plastic and made it clear the bait she swallowed was not harmful to her at all. So sadly, I will not be giving my money or time to Angel of Mercy anymore. Especially if they dont open until 6pm!
