Horrible, our dog had developed a lump in his throat, he had just turned 5 and was very healthy, we went and saw APC, the first Vet we saw at APC said the dog needed certain tests to rule out certain things including cancer. This same vet advised us that we could have to have surgery, she said this without any test results, she prescribed some drugs after the first visit and we went on our way. We were advised to follow up if the lump didnt go away after a week. A week went by and the test results came back negative for everything, but the lump didnt go away so we rescheduled another appointment. I requested a different vet for our second appointment, the new vet was a lot better than the previous vet. The second appointment confirmed that our dog had a bacteria infection, more than likely a result of eating something odd or rough housing with our other dog. The vet advised us that he would have to test out different types of drugs to treat the infection. It took more than 3 different prescriptions and roughly a month to get our dog back to normal. Although I am grateful that APC was able to help our dog, I am unsatisfied with our initial visit because the first vet over hyped the issue and charged us for an unnecessary test. I was also displeased that it took a month to heal this poor dogs throat, he looked real sad all the time because he had a huge lump in his throat , I also feel like if Affordable is in the name of your business, then well you should at least be competitive, all of my dogs visits and tests ran about a $1,000.00, I would not recommend APC to anyone!!!

We brought my dog here for a few years when we relocated to San Antonio. We started seeing Dr. Krampe and thought she was really friendly. When we took my dog to be groomed (the place ironically next door to this vet) and she ended up getting cut and took her to the vet immediately after to treat her for infection. Dr. Krampe ended up giving her a combination of medicines and we went on our way thinking everything would be OK. A few days later she started being really sick, couldnt/wouldnt stand up to go outside, was very unlike herself. It was Memorial Day and we took her to the emergency pet clinic near our house since this vet was closed. They did some x-rays and noticed she had gas in her abdomen/stomach which is fatal and they advised we either have a $5,000 surgery that she would unlikely survive or put her down, we ended up putting her to sleep as she was 13 years old and we figured it was her time. I asked the vet there what couldve caused this and she told us that it was because of the combination of pills our dog was given. I was so distraught and disappointed, I visited Dr. Krampe the next day to tell her what had happened, she told me I shouldve never given the pills together and it was MY fault. Its been a few years since this happened but I still am so disappointed, this wasnt my fault. It was malpractice by the veterinarian here. I am never going to come here again and Ive told my friends/family about my experience, some of which were former patients. Stay away!

June 12th we had to put our 17 year old cat to sleep. We were originally going to have him put down at Leon Valley on the 13th but didnt want to make him wait because he was in so much pain. I called "afordable pets" asking if they would be able to let me bring in my cat that day to be put down and what the cost would be. The insensitive receptionist just said "we can do it at 4:30 for about $200, you will also have to pay for a doctors visit in order for us to put him down". Disgusting!!! My cat is 17, not eating, not walking, not going to the bathroom and you need to "EXAMINE" him to make sure he is dying? Why is this? Because the doctor is suddenly going to bring my beloved cat of 17 years back to life? No because these jerks want to take advantage of you during a horrible moment of your life. This isnt the first time I dealt with these unprofessional people, back in 2008 I took my cat to this place to get his tooth pulled out. I left him here all day and when I picked him up they didnt do anything! Not only that but when they gave him back to us, they left the catheter in his leg!!! I wish I didnt pay these guys. Dont go here! I was able to find a caring doctor who fit us in, explained the euthanasia procedure to us, was kind and didnt overcharge us . I recommend Babcock Veterinary next to Heb

We had a vet we used years ago who charged us an arm and a leg to treat a dog who was subsequently diagnosed w/ hypo-plastic kidneys. Her condition was fatal and we had to put her down. That vet, who gladly took close to $2000 to treat our dying animal required us pay for the euthenasia in full, in spite of the fact that they had milked us on various unnecessary tests, medicines, etc. There was absolutely no sympathy for us in our heartbreak, they only seemed concerned about us paying. We felt that vets were probably all like the one described. Then we met the folks at Affordable Pet Care NW. They have restored our faith in vets. When we thought our newest puppy was dying in our arms from dehydration, the folks at Affordable Pet Care NW took her in immediately and saved her life. We thought having her stay at the clinic and being on an IV would break the bank, but instead it was such a reasonable amount, we knew we found the right vet for us. The staff is so nice and the doctors have always made us feel as though they loved our pets as much (almost) as we do. My family couldnt be more thankful for the doctors and staff at Affordable Pet Care NW.

I actually just started bringing my dog to this veteranarian, and after being unhappy with my previous vet, I am so happy that I started going here! I can only speak for one vet that Ive actually seen and that is Dr. Krampe. She is definitely friendly, great with dogs, and does not try and screw you around. She told me straight forward how much everything would cost and made sure that it was OK for me. My dog had to get blood work done, and I would find out the next day. She called me herself and explained everything to me, and told me exactly what she thought would help my dog. I was surprised because I was expecting the vet tech to call me, and I was really happy she actually took time to just talk to me about it. Another thing I was very surprised about was, she spent about 15 minutes in the room with me and my dog while I explained the problems she was having, and I didnt feel rushed. She made me feel comfortable. I am definitely going to be coming back here for as long as I need to. The vet techs and receptionists are just as friendly as Dr. Krampe! I will recommend this to as many people as I know that have animals.
