Took my two dogs (6 year old beagle and 1 year old morkie) for grooming because they were willing to hold them all day for me. I asked they have the vet look at an eye growth on my beagle and they said they needed their bordetella shots updated as they require it every 6 months (which I said was fine). When I picked up my dogs that afternoon, I was given a bill for $180. They told me my dogs needed more than bordetella to be up-to-date which included de-worming both and a shot called corona. I was also charged over $20 for the vet to examine my beagles eye (he did no treatment). The vet told me her growth needed to be removed immediately as it was bothering her eye (even though she has had no signs of it bothering her, i.e. scratching) and that she was in serious need of a dental. I wasnt prepared to spend another $150-$200 on these procedures so I told him to wait and I took her to our regular vet the next day. They reviewed and told me the corona shots and deworming was completely unnecessary! Also, that my beagles growth was NOT bothering her and they recommended just monitoring it, as it would probably just grow back bigger if removed (NOTE: since then, her eye growth as significantly shrunk. yay!) and that her teeth didnt need a dental immediately. They thought within the next year but she looked great for a 6 year old dog. Also, my dogs are kennel trained so they will not potty in their kennels as well as house-trained. My dogs couldnt even wait to get out of their lobby because they had to go so bad! This made me assume that they did NOT let them outside at all throughout the day. the staff was very friendly but i will not go back and do not recommend to anyone!

I called to request one day of boarding for my two dogs while I was away at a wedding. Since Id never been there, the lady said I needed to have current vaccinations and de-worming for them, reasonable so far. She said they give Drontal there - a great broad spectrum de-wormer but also somewhat expensive. I told her my dogs were de-wormed, my big one with Heartguard (ivermectin/pyrantel) every month, and the other smaller one Id just gotten a week ago from the shelter and shed gotten pyrantel there. She put me on hold to check if those would work, then said my smaller dog was fine, but my big dog would need Drontal. When I asked why, she told me it was to treat/prevent tapeworms. However, pyrantel is a main ingredient in the Heartguard my big dog had. Both dogs had the same stuff, that does nothing for tapeworms, but somehow it was ok for one of them and not the other. As a veterinary professional, she needs to know what each de-wormer covers and what they dont. And its not necessary to require as strong of a product as Drontal on a regular basis. I told her that would cost way too much for just one day of boarding and thanks anyway. I wont be calling again.
