I dont think Ive ever been to such a horrible optometrist office! First, the eye exam is rushed and definitely not a thorough exam. I have been wearing glasses and contacts for over 18 years and NEVER have I had an eye exam take less than 10 minutes. Second, the selection of frames is a joke and nearly all of them you try on are crooked..which really doesnt help you get an idea of how they might look. They then had me upgrade to the higher quality lense so that my lenses wouldnt stick out of the frames. I pick up my glasses a week after ordering (mind you, no one called to let me know they had arrived). Upon pickup they are extremely crooked. The girl argues with me about them being crooked and their only way of adjusting them is by bending and twisting the frame which only loosens the frames and makes no change to how they sit, aside from them now being loose on my face. Additionally, the lenses dont appear to be the higher end material, still stick out of the frames, and when I got them brand new they were dirty and smudged! The women working here clearly have no experience in the field and are not qualified to do this line of work..you might as well be dealing with a waitress helping you with glasses. Its ridiculous that this type of establishment is serving so many with insurance simply because its one of the only places that accepts it. This place is a scam and should not be able to operate the way they do. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more and go to a qualified optometrist!

I have mixed feelings about this place. The office was very small, like the smallest place Ive ever been for a doctor. The doctor was very nice and friendly but I feel like my eye exam went by so quickly Im not sure my results are accurate. I Didnt like the glasses I picked out so when I got home I was able to call and cancel the order and come back and pick me ones ( mind you i just ordered so I didnt physically have my glasses yet) the staff was nice but there is not much seating and I think he should book less appointments on a day so that he can have a more thorough exam for the patient. But I didnt have an aweful experience, I enjoyed my visit. Just have someone ready to pick you up after your appointment, they send you off on your merry way after your eyes get dilated. Again mixed feelings but it wasnt horrible. They should just think about buying the office next to them and expanding our move to a slightly bigger process and maybe add another doctor if they want to do that many appointments in a day.

Be very careful and verify your co-pay with your insurance company prior to your appointment. When I took my daughters in for their exams I was told we had to pay over $100. This was after the doctor exam. When we signed in I asked if they needed to copy the insurance cards and I was told we were fine. At the end we met with a woman and she said that we have to pay 90% and the insurance pays 10%. It was the opposite! I called our insurance company to verify and was told our responsibility was 10% They did issue a refund. It takes 5-7 business days to show up though... I wonder how many people have been overcharged before. The waiting room is tiny and which elevates the noise level. I also overheard a staff member speaking negatively about someone who had called to another staff member. Thats just unprofessional. The only positive experience we got from Optical Outlets is the care from Dr. Plante. He was very good with our girls.

I bought glasses three no the ago. The metal frames are peeling off the decorative coating. The frame is down to bare metal and my skin is breaking out where it touches my skin. They were supposed to order new frames. The receptionist at the front is rude. We waited ten minutes for her to talk on the phone and she never acknowledged us. She is not very nice, and knows nothing about glasses or frames. They said frames would be ordered, and come in. I called got the rude receptionist and she kept making excuses on why they didnt come through. Dont buy from them. They are nice until something goes wrong then they are no help. Faulty glass frames. I will Not do business with them in the future. Now I have these crappy glasses to wear until next year until Im allowed to get new glasses on my plan. These glasses were not cheap. Crappy place! Its a winder they are still in business...... buyer beware!!!

I love Dr. Plante. He is so friendly. His staff is also excellent, polite, and helpful. Affordable pricing. He does get a bit backed up during the winter season so try not to schedule your exams around the busiest time of year. I dont know why the person a few comments below mine said that they were rushed, but Ive been going there for three years and I have always had plenty of time to pick out my glasses, especially since they dont have a very large selection. As with any doctor, always check with your insurance. That is not the doctors fault. The office is clean and the wonderful attending doctor doesnt charge too much! In fact, if Im running short on contact lenses before the first of the year when my insurance will pay for them, they give me a couple trial pairs to hold me over.

The East Bay locations customer service was excellent and the manager Mr. Diaz takes the time to answer questions as does his staff especially Alex whom I myself dealt with personally when I went to get glasses. Their patience and professionalism in dealing with everyone that day even though they were busy was commendable. The doctor ( P. Plante ) was efficient yet was not abrupt in his exam or answering of any questions. This was the most pleasant experience in an eye care place I have had in years. I took notice even how they handled the elderly customers with care and patience...way to go guys! The glasses fit great, the script is wonderful. Small location but dont judge a place by that..it is the people/store management and care they take in their services they render. - A.M.

I made an appointment here 5 days in advanced. The staff told me that they were unable to find out what my co-pay would be with my insurance at the time, but they would have that information when I arrived for my exam. Well, that was a lie. After waiting in their office for 30 minutes, they finally told me that my insurance wasnt accepted by them, but I could still go back for an eye exam if I wanted to. Meanwhile, a 5 minute phone conversation with LensCrafters not only told me that my insurance was accepted and what my cost would be, but also got me an appointment. This place has terribly customer service, lost my business for life

While the shop is small, the feeling is warm and friendly. The OD physician, “Dr. Plante”, was extraordinary in the time and care he spent with me. I was there an hour between the doctor, and the staff whom helped me find the right glasses to fit my capacious head. My coupon was honored and I was treated with respect and knowledge from everyone there. I like the small, no-pressure office that is jovial, yet serious about your eye health! This is the best bargain, top notch quality center in the area and I have everything I need, close to home.
