Racially insensitive comments!!! I was insulted twice while in the presence of Dr. Johnsey. The first incident occurred during the exam. Dr. Johnsey made reference to my sons hyperactivity being associated with his poor vision. He referenced this to prisoners suggesting that hed "simmer down" with the right prescription glasses. OK??? I didnt automatically associate that comment with covert racial insensitivity but the second incident couldnt have been more overt!!!! Shortly after the eye exam, My son and I were trying on glasses when he [my son] picked up a black pair of ray ban frames. At the same time the Dr. Walked past us and for some reason felt it nesesary to say "your insurance doesnt cover those. Come over here, let me show you what you can get". I responded; "sir, my insurance puts $200 toward any pair I want". He then goes back and checks my insurance only to come back and say " oh, I assumed that all kids were on peach state ". Not only was I appalled at Dr. Johnseys racial insensitivity, I was flabbergasted at the fact that he wears a distinguished title commonly associated with high intelligence and seemed to not be able to decipher what was approapriate in a Healthcare provider/client atmosphere. I will not be patronizing this business in the future nor will I recommend the services of this business based on this incident...

This is the second time that I visit and I like it. They have a great and modern selection of frames for adults and children. The assistants are kind and very informative. Both Optometrist are kind and will explain any term or question you may have. The office is clean and has a nice calm atmosphere with a waiting area. I made an appointment and signed some papers; then with the help of an assistant, I tried different frames while I waited, which wasnt for long. The price is pretty good for the quality they offer. I have one year warranty for the frames and for the lenses. Surprisingly, I had my frames in two days; although it usually takes 7-10 days. He office is in the mall so after picking up my glasses I took my toddlers the get ice cream a tutti fruttti and to walk around.

Dr. Carl Johnsey is a consummate professional. I have been seeing him since before he opened his own practice in this location. He is extremely thorough, his staff is very friendly and polite, and he explains everything to you in very clear language. He also never seems to be rushed and takes his time. Ive honestly never had an optometrist this thorough. He is the closest to an ophthalmologist of any optometrist Ive ever seen - and much less expensive! Highly recommended.

Dr. Johnsey is a terrific guy and does a thorough job. Hes also helpful in explaining your prescription and with any other issues you may be having. His office staff is excellent. I usually work with Salisa. Shes warm and friendly and also was good at gauging my taste and finding the right size when she helped me pick out my frames. My kids enjoy Dr. Johnsey as much as I do! I love that their location is right around the corner from Starbucks inside Sugarloaf Mills.

My whole family has seen Dr. Johnsey for over 10 years, and we even followed him when he moved his practice to Sugarloaf Mills. Hes extremely helpful and understanding with his patients, and has great tips for kids who are afraid of contacts. We all love him and I recommend him to everyone!
