My brother was admitted with a complex medical history. The staff was friendly and very patient. The physical therapy girls were extremely patient and positive. My brother became increasingly unhappy there, hating the alarms on the bed and chair, and feeling that it took hours to get someone to help him get to the bathroom. The staff dealt pretty well with his frustration and anger. The various managers were helpful trying to provide me with answers to my numerous questions. Perhaps my only concern was follow thru on some things. We discussed his extreme heartburn and having Tums delivered with his meal, not on request. That took 4 days to make it come regularly but still not quite at meal time. It was hard to see him just sit in a chair all day long staring at mindless tv (on a very small screen). I know it is a hospital but would be nice to have some kind of room(s) to take him to for tv or sitting room, just some variety. (He was in for rehab- wound care and antibiotics). The first few days his bandages were often off and dragging on the floor and he somehow wound up with a large open wound (exposing the bone) which he did not have when he transferred from beverly hospital. It is likely he banged it himself somehow but the diligence on the bandaging took a few days to get going. I have found the first few days in any facility are the most risky because it is hard to know who to talk to, they dont know his issues and the severity of his wounds, the meds are not always on track, etc. It would be nice to have an initial orientation meeting on day one to meet the players, understand the gameplan, enable you to highlight key issues/concerns. I felt there were lots of people but hard to coordinate and get answers on whos who and what happens next, etc. Overall it served its purpose and many of the individuals I met were helpful, friendly and accommodating but busy. Priscilla was very friendly, a great greeter. Marco was amazing. Stephanie and Blair were helpful. The pt ladies were fabulous!!

Excellent Care for our loved one. Priscilla - the awesome Admin and all in one Welcome Center - made our entire family feel as though she was waiting for us to walk in the door. Her personal attention, warm personality, and friendly demeanor made everyone feel right at home. Paperwork and admissions was a breeze, and the little ones loved the special treats that Priscilla gave them. Marco and Ashley were Nurses extraordinaire -- took the time to really get to know our loved one, and asked us lots of questions to be able to understand the patient before the precipitating event -- and how they could best interact and draw her out now. Compassion with a capital "C" Dr Habbib works on the weekends, and is so kind, empathetic, and an excellent communicator. A practitioner who will tell you the truth as he sees it, in an honest, caring way. Worth making an extra trip to visit on the weekend so that you can have his feedback about your loved one. Celeste our Case Manager was approachable, communicative, and so helpful with the next level of care placement. The weekday doctor may be an excellent doctor, however it was challenging to communicate with her, and she did not return calls in a timely manner --- really important when the clock is ticking on insurance and placement. All is All, if you are in the situation where a loved one needs this level of care, I hope you will be as happy as we where. Excellent progress was made during the 3 week stay, and our loved one was cared for as the individual she is.

Curtesy and peace of mind in times like this is what I needed and is exactly what I got at Kindred! The employees were terrific and you could tell from the way the upbeat attitude that they were treated properly by the ownership. The food wasnt great BUT better than expected when I got there.
