This was my first trip to Costco Optical. I have previously bought prescription eye wear from Target and a high end place. As I am bad at looking after my glasses I decided not to spend another $600 on a pair, so went to Target. The selection was poor, the service was dreadful. I did eventually get a "Sale Price" of $350 plus tax for a complete pair with a $129 frame and 25% off. I go to Costco for all the usual stuff in giant sized quantities and had not considered their eye wear. After todays visit I will never go anywhere else. There were two optical specialists there. They worked as a team to take car of myself and others, while never making you feel any less than completely attended to. Thats a skill. The selection of frames was really very good and I was asked if I would like to browse myself or get their advice. I had questions, not the least of which was about quality of lens and the price. Their best lenses (digital, progressive, bifocal, poly with anti-glare and anti-scratch and transitional color) were $159.99. That was a better lens than Target, for less than half the price. I bought two complete pairs with very nice frames for $387 including tax and had a great customer experience doing so. Thanks Costco, you have once again proven to be the best choice. Bath rolls, cheese sticks, Bounty, frozen fish and now, eye glasses!

Ive shopped at Costco before but never used the optical department. It is located on the perimeter of the store, in very close proximity to aisles with impatient shoppers whizzing by with their shopping carts, the environment was cramped and loud. There were 2 people working on a busy Saturday, I was 4th in line but didnt mind waiting. They were keeping good track of whos turn it was. I picked out frames while my friend stood at the counter waiting. The frame prices were very reasonable, I believe 34.99 was the cheapest. By the time it was my turn I had picked out frames and sat down. He was patient and attentive, but I felt rushed due to the fact there were people waiting. When it got down to it, I wasnt ready to commit, but wasnt pressured. Bottom line, prices are decent, quality seemed fine, people are helpful, but environment is uncomfortable. I ended up going to Wal-Mart where the prices are even cheaper, selection is greater, and it is its own store within a store so the atmosphere is much more comfortable. The experience at wal mart was much better, I would definitely pick it over costco in the future.

Anya, the Optical Manager was so kind and patient with me today. I was picking up my first pair of bifocals and I was confused about my prescription how it was written. She spent way more time than necessary helping me sort out my new glasses and the new plan going forward. I had so many questions and she couldnt have been more gracious, kind and patient. I will definitely return!
