I went to Eye Care of Iowa for an eye exam and eyeglasses. There was a 20 min. wait before the exam, but the doctor was friendly and answered my questions. The selection of frames was good and I easily found a pair that I liked. However, I was informed by the staff that my insurance would only cover a small amount of the exam and I had to pay the balance at that time. No problem, I paid my bill and a week later I had a new pair of glasses. But a month after that, I received an Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company that stated they paid a lot more than Eye Care of Iowa thought they would. When I tried to get a refund of my overpayment, they first stated they dont give refunds and would use the funds to credit my next visit in a year. But after I insisted they refund the money before then, they stated I would receive a refund check in about 2 weeks. I received my check 4 weeks later.

I will not be returning to this business. Years ago I had went to the office in Pleasant Hill, IA--rude!! Years later I thought I would retry the business in a newer location--once again--rude!! The office staff were NOT bright at all. None of the office staff knew anything, and when I asked how much longer it was going to take (all I was doing was picking up contacts), I was told not much longer and that someone did a walk in (what that had to do w/me, I still have no idea). The optometrist, has no personality! The eye chart had more personality. I could go on, but I would run out of room.

It was my first visit here and I made it clear to the staff that I might be purchasing eyewear elsewhere. They still pulled my benefits authorization I found out after leaving and trying to buy eyeware online. I am completely out of contacts and wanted to buy my glasses asap for the best price with the most choices. They would not give any trial contacts either. When I got home my insurance told me since they pulled the authorization for eyeware I couldnt order glasses and receive my benefit allowance for 3-5 days. The doctor was friendly and answered my questions.

I have been going to Eye Care of Iowa for years now. It is very convenient that they have multiple locations around the Des Moines area. The doctors are always friendly and tell youbstep by step what they are doing and why they are doing it. I also purchase my lenses and frames from here. The whole staff os friendly and helpful from the time you enter to the time you leave. I highly recommend Eye Care of Iowa for all ages.

One of the clerks behind the counter was very rude and mean. She insisted that I leave my kids in the car while she printed my childs prescriptions. Unbeknownst to her, leaving children alone in the car is breaking the law. I was about to leave without a prescription another clerk ran out with my prescription. Sad to say that one person ruined my experience with them.

Started off appointment with them running 30 minutes behind (no call to reschedule), then out to tech to pick lenses (had already picked frames) and they were short a person. So in all I was there over 1 1/2 hours for an appointment that should have taken 1/2 that time. Prices are SUPER expensive to any other pair I have purchased at other retailers.

I switched from another optical place to this place and was not disappointed. Staff was very courteous and the eye doctors answered my questions, explained everything and I got fitted for new contacts. Went back for a recheck and everything is fine. Found out my last place had wrongly marked my left/right contacts as well. Shouldve switched years ago.

The wait for the exam to start can be kind of lengthy but the doctors are very friendly and patient with young kids. There is one staff member that seems to never smile nor is she very friendly, unless she is talking to a coworker. Almost seems as if she feels like she is better than people. Otherwise, Im satisfied with going there.

I have been going here for years. They usually are very helpful. This time I didnt feel very important. I asked about my insurance and was told it wouldnt help pay for new frames but found out at work it would. I might try going back one more time, but if the attention to my needs doesnt change I will be going somewhere else.

I dont like going to corporate stores and this office offers competitive prices with unparalleled expertise. The two doctors I have met with have been highly intelligent and extremely passionate.

Staff was very friendly and helpful for both my six year old and myself. They were able to explain everything that was going on so my son wouldnt be scared this was his first visit to the eye doctor. Wait times are very low and you are seen by or before your scheduled time.
