The reason I brought my kitten here was because I had an awful experience at Banfield with him where I felt the vets were money-orientated & lazy while examining my kitten. I wanted my kitten to have a thorough exam. I made sure to do my research the 2nd time around before bringing my kitten elsewhere. After reading the great reviews, an appointment was scheduled. I seriously am starting to doubt that the other reviews are from actual customers. After being at Northbrook, I would gladly make the vets at Banfield the God parents to my kitten. First, when we arrived at Northbrook, the vet & her tech man-handled (no exaggeration) my kitten for 1 minute while attempting to get his temp rectally. My kitten was screaming bloody murder & appeared to be in alot of pain. It was bad. The vet & tech appeared to be annoyed by his screams & only smooshed him into the metal exam table & grabbed his neck harder while he struggled. The vets at Banfield took his temp in 10 seconds & my kitten didnt appear to be in any discomfort besides some agitation. Once finished, the Northbrook vet states "99.1, I dont think its accurate though since it wasnt in all the way." The vet then proceeds to move onto the next task of his exam. Uh ok? She swabbed his ears aggressively. I am not a dramatic person, but I am still in disbelief over how she treated my kitten IN FRONT of me. My eyes teared up. I felt so bad for him. After swabbing his ears, she takes one look at his wax & says "he has an ear infection!" To which I say, "I just paid Banfield to test his ears for an infection. It came back negative." She looked embarrassed. Her tech left the room to call Banfield & have my papers faxed over (w/o my knowledge/prior approval). She then came back in the room 5mins later while the vet was still assessing my cat (very aggressively) to hand me the phone & have me tell Banfield that I approve his documents to be sent there. Oh ok..thanks for the heads up? I approved & the tech confirmed once the files were received that my kitten was indeed negative for an ear infection. My kitten also had some sticky stuff on his tail (lil guy gets into everything). To which the vet starts pulling his hair to get it out. He was already scared from her aggressiveness and now shes going to start pulling on his hair? I attempted to comfort him, but Im not good with confrontation so I didnt tell her to stop. I should have. She then carries him into their office and uses a scissors to cut it out (again, without my permission) after realizing that pulling his hair out wasnt a good idea. Yes, he did lose hair from her pulling on the sticky spot. While crying in pain. I was told over the phone that a standard exam would likely be enough to tell me what he was sick with, but once I was there, I was told that she is not sure what he has & it could be a number of things. She didnt offer me any tests to be done to figure it out except the feline leukemia test. I agreed. She grabbed him & carried him into the other room. W/o me. My heart broke knowing that this woman who has already proven herself insensitive/aggressive with my cat would be drawing his blood w/o me there to comfort him. I again started crying waiting in the exam room for my kitten. I could hear him screaming and crying in the next room over while they took his blood. I ran to the door when she came back with him & grabbed him. I asked her if he would be sore & where I should be cautious holding him. Unsurprisingly, she gave me a condescending/slightly agitated look clearly annoyed that my kitten was outwardly showing pain & goes "not at all. It was a very small needle." She then left the room while I awaited his test results. I cuddled my kitten who licked his SORE leg for 10 minutes where she drew his blood from. She came back with his test results. After, she prescribed an antibiotic for him (without knowing what he has....ok?). I declined as it seemed she was also money-oriented like Banfield. I paid the $100 fee and got my kitten out of that place so fast. I really wanted to like this place. I had such hi

I have been a customer of Northbrook Animal Hospital, P.A. since 2008. This is a convenient location for me since it’s near my home. After Monica took over, I noticed a lot of really good changes and upgrades to the clinic. Everyone is super nice and helpful, as I typically come with a lot of questions about my two Boston Terriers. One of the employees who has been working at the clinic since I started coming (Cassie) is the main reason I keep coming back. She is excellent with my dogs and it’s just nice to see a familiar face from year to year. Monica loves all animals and that is obvious by the way she treats my dogs. She is honest and caring and someone I will continue to consult with in the future. I highly recommend this clinic and couldn’t be happier with the service I receive!

I have 2 small dogs and we all had a great experience at Northbrook! the vet & tech treated both of my pets as if they were their own and were very friendly. I liked that the entire examination was done in front of me (even the shots). (At our previous vet they would take the animal away, do their thing, bring them back to the room & you were on your way.) At Northbrook they were very gentle and patient with each dog. One dog was sick and they explained in detail what was going in her little dog body and how/when to administer the medications. They were also VERY reasonably priced. The office visit was $25/dog vs $65/per at our old vet!! We were referred by a friend and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Northbrook to anyone!!!

I love Northbrook Animal Hospital! Everyone that works here is super friendly and you can tell that they really love animals! Their prices are very reasonable and they dont price gouge like some other vets do when you are in a sticky situation, and Ive been in a couple now. One time my dog had eaten something he wasnt supposed to and I called and was able to talk to the vet right away. She was super nice and told me exactly what to do over the phone and was patient while I wrote everything down. She didnt rush me off the phone or tell me to bring my dog in like Im sure some vets would do. I pass quiet a few vet clinics to get to Northbrook (its a 30 min drive) but I will always bring my dog here!

We were looking for an exotic/reptile vet in the area for our Bearded Dragon. We got connected with Dr. Maddox who has been amazing at helping us deal with our beardies infection. Every time I call, they know exactly who I am. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Theyve let us ask thousands of questions in person, over the phone and through email. Im so glad I found this vet clinic! The prices seem reasonable, but Ive never had to take a reptile to the vet before so cant compare. The way theyve treated the other animals Ive seen while Ive been there (cats, dogs, etc) has been so sweet and gentle. Highly recommended!
