I had a very bad experience. Their optometrist made a mistake on my prescription and I could only see close up with my left eye. I had to wait a week to see the optometrist again. He changed the prescription. I waited 2 weeks to get the glasses back. So I tried the new glasses. They seemed a little better. I tried them for a few weeks. I still could not adjust to them. I called back to the store the manager was not in. There was a manager from Des Moines there named Penny. I told her the issues I was having. She said that is the reason she was at the store because they were have trouble there. She sent the glasses to their main store to see if they were made correctly. I went and got an eye exam from a different optometrist. The prescription was completely different except for the reading correction. They told me they would give me a refund. I have been waiting 3 weeks from when that started and I still have not received it. Their CEO Vincent Copple will not return phone calls. He had told me over a week ago that the check was going to be sent. I called today and the receptionist told me that they have not made the check out because the person who makes them out left without doing so. Vincent still would not take my call. Finally after a call to their accounts payable clerk. Vincent called me back. With no apology he said the guy who cuts the check would be in the next day and would send it. I guess we will see. His word has not been so reliable so far. By the way. I went to the Walmart store in Ames and got a proper eye exam and a pair of glasses of the same quality for hundreds less. They were so pleasant and professional. Unlike Wylie Eye Care. The glasses from Walmart were. Perfect!

Complete disaster and terrible treatment of a long-term customer (my family has purchased at least 5 pairs of glasses here) by none other than the CEO of the company, Vincent Copple! So, this is less a review of the Ames location (although mistakes were made) and more an indictment of the whole Whylie corporation. My situation involved at least 10 phone calls and I never did get my glasses!!! There is a character limit so check out Yelp for the full review.
