First- Joe is the only vet in Louisville who not only continuously uptrains on exotics and standard housepets, but is also one of the few vets in Louisville that OTHER vets recommend exotic clients too. Ive taken my pets to him for 15+ years and I dont trust anyone else, you should not either..the one time I did take my cat to his previous place of business for an emergency issue (Joe was out of town) I found out a week later that she had a fresh break in her paw..ironic since her limp was worse after the visit to the other vet. Now I dont know what happened but I do know its not coincidental. Joe was able to set it and fix it, but I will never ever trust another vet period. He has also taken exceptional care of my rabbits in the past, carries Oxbow products, and actually runs his business out of an old building, like good old fashioned, care about the animals, not necessarily the building vets should be. He is not excessive on charges, and believes in prevention being cheaper that fixing it later. He really truly cares for his animal patients first, his clients and staff second. And his staff are awesome, few places can boast the same staff over a long course of 15 years...theres a reason for that. Tell him Marie sent you if you go- hes awesome.

I seldom give reviews, as I believe most establishments do not deserve or warrant them. I can gladly say this is not so for Dr. Deck and the Clinic. I first came into contact with the good Doctor regarding euthanizing my cancerous cat -- my family took her there and received modest pricing. I should say we were quite surprised to find he had saved my cats life by amputating her life, hence extending my cats life by several years. Further, I urgently took my seizing dog, Rocky, to the clinic in hopes he could be saved. Alas it was not so -- he died that night. At the time I was under 18, and I think from emotional trauma no one in my family had the heart to pick him up. Several years later (today) I called and asked if they still had the ashes. They did, and furthermore they were ready with them the moment I walked in the door. Rocky was interned in a nice, solemn urn and then placed inside a black bag alongside his collar. Thank you for keeping him and thank you for saving my cat.

I found Deck Veterinary Clinic by pure chance and I am so thankful I did. I have what would be considered “exotic” pets so it is difficult to find a vet that will see them and even more difficult to find a vet that is as knowledgeable and compassionate as Dr. Deck. Dr. Deck and his staff are nothing other than exceptional; as long as they are in business they will be the only vet that will have my business.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Deck and his staff. They are simply amazing! He operated on my cancerous cat, Gingersnap, a few years ago and was able to extend her life by a couple of years! I am so grateful for the care given to my kitties! I highly recommend! Also, the prices are very reasonable, as well. An extra bonus!

Friendly staff! Laura Sisterman, DVM is very good with animals, explains boosters, and tests fully! Waiting area is cozy and clean! Exam room is very clean and calming! Love it!
