I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Pike and his staff. We took our daughter in for an exam and cleaning to another dental office and had a fairly negative experience. The dentist referred to our son and daughter as only "brother and sister". She never used names even after informing us that our daughter needed extensive dental work and would probably do best under general anesthesia. I wanted a second opinion and had heard good things about Dr. Pikes office. Dr. Pike greeted both of us in the waiting room, and introduced himself to our children. He learned our childrens names immediately, and used them. He took us back to the room, where he invited both our children to explore and feel comfortable. As he took the time to explain his philosophy to us, I looked over and saw both our children smiling, laughing, and playing with the dental equipment. They were having a great time. Dr. Pike offered us a reasonable alternative treatment plan that would result in very little discomfort for our daughter and also offered us lifestyle recommendations that would help with her continued care. We left feeling so much better about the choices we were making with our daughters care. Today she returned for her first big procedure. At five years old, I didnt know what to expect. She did fantastic - no tears, no nervousness about returning for another visit, and all smiles. Dr. Pike has set both our children up with a positive dental experience for life. I only wish I had found him when I was a child.

We searched around for a pediatric dentist for our 2 boys. Im a pediatric nurse practitioner and am kinda picky... I want someone who will truly listen to me and not just insist on a one size fits all approach. Weve seen both Dr Pikes (Junior and Senior) and they REALLY listen to your concerns- and find ways to meet both their needs (to provide care they can stand behind) AND my needs. Dr Pike (Senior) has done some very interesting work around preventing fear in children during dental work. He is wholly dedicated to making sure the children are comfortable and not frightened. Its a more progressive view than we (in medical field) have- where we still poke and prod at kids even if they are screaming/crying and clearly scared. The dental hygienists are also quite lovely and facilitate keeping the scary factor low. I definitely recommend this practice!

Went to Dr. Pike for a 2nd opinion on my sons teeth and had a wonderful experience. We recently moved to the area and are not established with a pediatric dentist. My son (age 2.5) loved playing there and did a fabulous job getting his teeth examined, I think mainly due to the calm, helpful staff who took their time explaining things to him. We were previously given the advice to have my sons teeth worked on under general anesthesia just due to his age and not taking his personality in consideration. Dr. Pike came up with a much more reasonable and personalized treatment plan for him that I feel very comfortable with. Dr. Pike gave me a lot of helpful information and took time to really listen to my concerns without any judgement. I am so happy to have found this clinic!

We love Dr. Pike! This is truly an ideal environment for kids to learn to be comfortable with going to the dentist. I think it really helps that the treatment area is filled with other kids who are relaxed; there is nothing hidden and the social message is that going to the dentist is no big deal. The staff goes out of their way to make sure that the kids call the shots and only proceed with each step when the kids are ready. Weve had a couple years worth of cleanings and a few procedures with no issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend Dr. Pike to anyone with kids in the Portland area.

The Dr.s Pike have been nothing short of tremendous in their care for my two boys. My eldest, in particular, is highly sensitive and has had great difficulty allowing clinicians to examine him. Though it was difficult for them, they all showed patience, tolerance and allowed my son to largely set the pace. After 3 years they were able to do a full exam. Liz, the dental assistant there, has been the primary person to help my son through his anxieties and discomforts. I cannot recommend this dentist office more highly. I would rate it a 100 if I could.

I came to this office almost 20 yrs ago-Im 25 now! I recommended Dr. Pike to my coworker at OHSU because of the experience I had at every visit as a child. I had braces and was always in the very back of the office and possibly to the left which seemed like an eternity to get there-mind you I was about 9. Dr Pike was exceptional. The waiting area was fun. They had stairs leading upward into the corner and what seemed to be a big tv. Surprisingly some how I remember this. I will continue to recommend Dr.Pikes office to my friends with little ones!

Doctor Pike and his staff are amazing!!! So patient, caring and professional. The first 15/20 mins of our appointment, all my kids did was play, look around and get to know the staff. There was no pressure to start the check-ups. I was told that my kids were "the boss" and that they would decide when they were ready for their check-ups. I was apprehensive at first but they knew what they were doing. After 15/20 mins, my children got curious about the check-ups and even requested to get them done. 100% recommended!

Drs. Pike and staff are great. My youngest son is autistic and they are very patient with him and will only go as far as he is comfortable with. Over time, this approach has allowed his comfort level to grow and has made for much smoother visits. My older son had an unusual dental situation and, again, the Pikes came up with a sensible approach for his treatment that included collaboration with oral surgeons and an orthodontist.

I searched for over a year to find a dentist that would offer a non surgical treatment for my toddler. Im so grateful I found Dr. Pike. His professionalism and dedication to his craft is truly a gift for children and parents alike. I love the open office, no shut doors, no secret treatments. Children can see and feel safe in this office. I truly appreciate the warmth and compassion shown by the individuals that work there.

We came in because my son had some significant issues that other dentists werent able to explain. Dr. Pike evaluated my son as an individual, not a generic "3 year old boy." He was able to recognize my sons capacities and treat him without general anesthesia, which is worth more than I could ever say. Not only did we leave with my sons pain resolved, we left with a game plan that will keep problems at bay.

This is the best pediatric dental practice in the greater Portland area. Their style of practice is kind, thoughtful, learned, and extraordinarily patient. They take the concept of "painless dentistry" to the highest level. My children love going to see them and that should say it all.
