Their ER is the absolute WORST ER I have ever been to in my life, and I have lived all over the country and been to many hospitals. A year ago, my husband had an accident where I wasnt sure if he was going to make it or not. No one was keeping me updated and understandably I was extremely anxious and worried. The ER doctor threatened to kick me out if I did not compose myself, keep in mind, I was not sure if my husband was going to live or die. My husband was in and out of consciousness due to his accident, I heard him yelling and screaming in pain. Turns out they were trying to put a catheter in him. They restrained my barely conscious husband and said he was being hostile....once again, keep in mind....he was on the verge of death!!!! When I could finally go back and see him, my heart broke. My husband was all tied up and restrained, unconscious.....the nurses were assholes, the doctor was awful!!! Its been a year and I am still not over it. All the hospital said was to file a complaint.....which I did and of course, that did nothing. Last week, I was having extreme breathing issues, very light headed, chest pain...I go to the ER and they have me waiting forever!! They let someone with a sprain ankle go before me....once the nurse finally called me for my vitals, I stood up and became extremely light headed and almost fell. She just stood there... a gentleman with some sort of leg injury who was also waiting even tried to catch me and hurt himself in the process. Once in the back getting vitals, the nurse said, "well, why did that happen? Didnt you drive yourself here? Why are you doing that...?" Ummm excuse me?? Thats why I am here, to figure that out! She had such attitude and was just a nasty nurse. I even heard her with other patients being extremely rude and uncaring. I ended up signing myself out and attempted to drive to another hospital but had to pull over and get a ride. AMCs ER has serious issues, well, the nurses and doctors are terrible people. I will never go there again. I went to another local area hospital and was seen right away and taken serious. Turns out I had a severe lung infection. AMC ER staff should seriously be ashamed of themselves.

I took our 3 year old son into the ER because his bowel movements were green, mucous and like water and stringy like spinach. He curled up in a ball on the floor and was screaming and crying clutching at his stomach and private area. The staff was told numerous times that our son is autistic and terrified of the doctor. They sent in a paramedic to draw blood. Eventually there were 5 people in there trying to draw blood and pinning him down. They wrapped him up in a swaddle. He was screaming, kicking and saying done. His vein rolled. They were told to stop and they still wanted to try again. The catheter did not happen. After all of this they told me if I took him it could possibly lead to legal action against me. They traumatized my child. If anything I should take legal action against them. They treated him like an animal. I will not take any action against them. They did hurt our son though. Keep that in mind when u take your own child in. Thank u.

Went to the E.R with asthma symptoms. Was checked in immediately then was told to have a seat in the waiting room. After waiting for over half an hour and overhearing others complaining about how long theyve been waiting, I decided I probably wouldnt die without my inhaler and told the receptionist I wanted to check myself out. I was then ask to wait a few minutes while they did paperwork. I was fed up at this point and walked out. Of the three times Ive been to this particular emergency room, Ive never been seen within the first half an hour. And twice Ive left after waiting between 30 and 45 minutes. An emergency room that doesnt see patients in a timely manner is not an emergency room worth going to.

The hospital is good in most cases but not helpful at times when it really counted. My husband came in midnight with stomach pain and when they said he needed an operation they call one of the valley surgeon. He was less than willing to do it. I think cause he was woken up late at night. Anyway, instead of having it done there he recommended us to UW-Madison. I was very disappointed in the surgeon lack of confidence that we decided to just go to UW-Madison. Too bad they could easily have gotten 5 stars from me but that night change a view about them.

My husband was recently treated for heart irregularity. He was treated well from the moment the ambulance arrived at our door. When patients receive kind treatment from medical staff—better communication, an effort to get to know them as people—they have less anxiety and pain and shorter hospital stays, Stanford’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education shows. Doctors and nurses, in turn, feel more engaged and less exhausted. We found the care at AMC to be excellent.

Samantha was very rude when I declined an iv and blood draw. I can in with severe stress and anxiety stomach problems. I just needed something for nausea and a headach, and doctors note for work. When I told them about my phobia for needles they said I "have to get over that"... And Samantha would ask why I even came in here. She was very brash and rude. Would rather suffer in pain then get treated like that again.

Doctors are competent but lack bedside manners or the time to answer questions. Daytime nurses are great where as the overnight nurses are sadists. Pain management is subpar you may have to scream in agony for hours before getting help. The nurses seem to have great conversations as the sound of patients alarms ring unanswered for long periods of time. Hell on earth.

Terrible experience sitting in the er for over 5 hours then tell us they need a urine sample after she had just gone to bathroom. Nurse Bob came into our room once in 3 hours asked to talk to nurse multiple times and we are just ignored. He must have been to busy playing on his phone or playing solitaire on his computer. Terrible terrible service

These fine folks were excellent during a critical health crisis, and I dont feel they missed a thing. Mostly I love how inclusive they were, empowering me and those I love on making decisions. We were kept well informed too and the nursing staff were above and beyond, turning scary into something I could face. I was lucky to wind up there.
