I had a really great first experience at Long Drive Dog & Cat hospital. I had never boarded my aggressive 6-pound terrier before and I was nervous about how she was going to react to people she had never met before and being boarded for a week while I was away. We were referred by a relative, so nervously I took her in. The first thing I noticed was how at ease the other waiting pets were. Generally upon arrival if the atmosphere is tense my dog picks up on it right away and gets extremely nervous and aggressive. But the atmosphere was very calm and the pets seemed happy! When we got to the counter our information was quickly verified (I made her reservation on the phone some weeks before) and the receptionists were very warm and friendly. My doggys caretaker came to us and asked a few questions, took her bed and blanket and went inside to set up her kennel with her stuff. She also asked a few questions about my dogs temperament which no doubt would be helpful in her approach to the dog. I was shocked when she held my dog and she didnt snap, growl or bite. It was at that moment that I knew she was in good hands!! I honeymooned worry-free as her caretaker was nice enough to text me photos of my baby in her kennel, playing in the yard, going for her walk, etc. And I was so happy to learn that she was never aggressive or mean to any of the staff or other animals at the hospital during her stay. She was at ease. I highly recommend this place and I will be making Long Drive our exclusive veterinarian for my baby moving forward. Theres no better feeling than knowing you can trust someone with your pet because its truly hard to find.

I took my two dogs in on a Saturday morning for grooming. I was asked to arrive early because as the lady on the phone put it " there will be a line." Upon arrival, thirty minutes early, I was the only one there. As seven rolled around I was joined by three other patrons. The doors opened at five after seven I was informed that the line did not matter because all the animals would be released at the same time. I left specific instructions for the way I wished my animals to be groomed. Afterward, I was informed of extra fees needed for extra medicine for one of my animal. You see, I have been a customer of Long Drive Animal Hospital for over ten years and they keep all the records of every one of my animals. The dog in question was just recently in the hospital to be neutered and did not need this medicine. I agreed, thinking just another extra cost from the vet again. Arriving to pick my animals I was greeted with a packed and smelly lobby. I was explained to that no matter the size or weight of my animals the groomer sets the price for each. She had charged the same for both my three pound dog and my twenty pound dog. She had also disregarded all my instructions and did what she felt as was the right thing to do. When I explained that it was not she did not even offer an apology. In my opinion this place has the worst customer service and has forgotten that making clients happy makes them money.

Buyer beware: I just called these people to see what they would say about a puppy situation. They couldnt help me at all . Said I was not doing something right lol. They said this below Vet1)Telling me you dont have an answer for what my problem is horrible. Me1a)very bad, why would I come to a place with people that cant help the situation. Vet2)come in for a check up Me2a)you dont have an answer for my problem , I get it the vet visit is for money lol.hell no i wouldnt even give 1 star to this place . I came here a couple years ago and they let my dog die , couldnt fix the problem at all ,and wouldnt even start until I paid upfront. Buyer beware : they have a file on me for proof this isnt a lie. The reason this is so late is because I couldnt remember the name of this place I just wanted to help my dog . Found you a $$ hole $ .... they dont want to help unless they get paid first , so your dog will suffer a little while waiting for their money . The front desk lady said payment went through and they took my dog to the back, and came back and said she might of ate poison . So yes my dog died at 6 months old . Still a puppy . And everyday I miss her . Thier isnt poison no where around my house .

I took my puppy here to get spayed and dew claws removed because the spay was covered by the rescue that I adopted her from. It was extremely busy and difficult to get anyone to talk to me. They called her name and took the puppy from my arms and walked away, as i was about to cry. They said they would call me at 2 pm to let me know how she was but they didnt call. I called at 2:45 and had to wait on hold for an update. The staff was not friendly in person nor on the phone. As first time dog owner I had to ask many questions about postoperative care. They gave me no information except for answering the questions I asked. Unfortunately I didnt ask enough questions. My dog had complications with her incisions, and when i saw thst they looked puffy I followed up with my vet. He asked me who did the surgery. Fortunately I took her in soon enough that all I had to do was to put my dog on antibiotics. I never even saw the veterinarian when I dropped her off or when I picked her up. I wont be returning here and I honestly wish I had spent my own money to have her spayed, it would have been worth risking the health of my dog and avoiding the emotional turmoil.

I love coming to Long Drive Dog & Cat Hospital for many reasons. I have used this vet since I was a kid and my parents took our pets there to see Dr. Slatko. Dr. Shelby came there straight out of college and has really done a great job and his staff are all wonderful. Most of the employees have worked there for many years which says to me that they love their jobs and the animals. Also, my most favorite thing is....NO APPOINTMENTS NECESSARY! I moved to Galveston County about 13 years ago and not only are all the vets out here super expensive, but you have to make an appointment which most of the time is days or weeks away. Sometimes you just have to take them when you can. Sure, you might have to wait sometimes, but you have to wait at all the others too, even with an appointment. It is certainly worth driving 30 miles to get proper care for my fur babies. All of the Dr.s and vet assistants are great and you can tell they love the animals they see. It is also centrally located for those who live in the greater Houston area. Next time you need to take your pet to the Doc, you should try Dr. Shelby and his gang. You wont be disappointed!
