A Well Bird Check Up annually is always a good idea but when money is tight and the bird looks fine it is harder to make the appointment important. I am so glad I did!! Emmy Lou seemed fine and I was not expecting anything but a great report...when Dr Harwell came in to show me her feet. She has open cracks on the bottom of both feet that hurt me just to look at!! He explained that it could be the result of some of her perches and to remove the rough ones and replace with soft rope or natural wood. He put medicine on her feet and showed me how to apply. He gave me some pain meds to give her and showed me how to do that too. And than he did the most wonderful thing...he looked in her cage and saw the single perch I had in her carry cage was a sand perch. Without a comment he got out his gauze and wrapped it up to protect her sore feet on the ride home. This wonderful Vet has cared for my pets for years and I want him to continue to do so for many many years!!! Please keep this wonderful Doctor happy to stay in practice by using his services and letting him know he is very appreciated!! If Dr. Harwell was not in my area I would have never tried him and that would have been my lost. This man is knowledgeable and also wise. He has seen all my animals and I have always been fully satisfied. His staff is friendly and helpful. I have called at odd hours. I have called panicked. I have called when I was just not at my best, but him and his staff always have been at their best. The doctor found a thyroid problem in my oldest cat and gave us all the options we had. When we decided on surgery he referred us to a specialist that we were also very happy with. So not only is he and his staff the best, they know who is better and will send you their way if they can’t do something. Because of Dr. Harwell my oldest cat will live to be even longer and stay healthier during that time. I owe this clinic so much for the amount of reassurance of just knowing it’s there.

We started going to Dr. Harwell over 25 years ago when we first began keeping reptiles and had an impacted Boa constrictor. He was always our exotic animal doc. When we got a new puppy about 7 years ago, I thought, why have two vets? Dr. Harwell is knowledgeable and very competent, and as good with mammals as he is with reptiles. The office staff is friendly. Its a laid back office, nothing fancy, but the homey environment and care will keep you coming back. Its the only vet office Ive been to that will call you back to check on your pets progress if they have a health challenge.

I am so pleased with Dr. Harwell and his staff. They were pleasant to deal with by phone and in person. Dr. Harwell provided so much helpful printed material on my new African Grey that I had to return to him with my new cockatoo. He is truly amazing and appreciated. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a vet. His rates are super reasonable.

Dr. Harwell and his staff are very caring and knowledgeable about exotics as well as domestic pets. He took great care of my Scarlet Macaw and took time to give me several ideas of what may be causing feather plucking behavior. It ended up being helped by new UV parrot light setup and Merlin looks fabulous again! He goes above and beyond.

I had a wonderful experience with my dog, Willow. She has a heart murmur and experienced a full, grand mal seizure (which she had never done before). Dr. Harwell squeezed her into his day, made a thorough evaluation of her status, and gave me two meds all for $78. I would have easily paid twice that at my old vet. Love this vet!
