Clueless!! They dont want or need your business. They are not taking new "patients". I called on Saturday morning to make and appointment for the family dog (Here was a great opportunity for them to inform me they dont want to treat our dog. Maybe, "Hello, is your pet an existing patient?"). After waiting on hold for 10 minutes (instead of the really bad hold music, maybe have a useful announcement, like "we are not taking new patients. Please call X, have a wonderful day."), I said I would like to get my dog in for a checkup and to get her shots up to date. This is where asking if my pet was an existing patient would have been a REALLY REALLY good idea. But instead, I was told you dont need an appointment for vaccinations and to just come in by 11 a.m. (If I was an existing patient there would be a good chance I already knew that). So we hurry up and get everyone in the car. Drive 25 minutes to 380 West We Dont See New Animal Patients Hospital. We entered the office, the receptionist, without looking up, says "Hello, what are you here for today?". I explain that I had called earlier and the person I spoke to said to come in this morning before 11 a.m. to get our pet her vaccines. This is where I was FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY told Im sorry we arent accepting new patients. I say Ummm, but I just called an hour ago and I was told to come in. Her response, "we are referring new patients to .....some other place.....". Well, thanks for wasting my time. Save yourself the headache. When you get there you are going to be turned away anyways.

I wouldnt take my kids anywhere else! We take all four of our personal dogs (and sometimes my foster dogs) to see Dr. Shelton and I trust him 100%, which is really saying a lot, because Im incredibly picky when it comes to any type of doctor. He is always straightforward, he is honest, he gives you options, and theres never any pressure. Their prices are excellent in my experience in comparison with the previous vets Ive seen, and it never seems like we wait very long when were there. Best of all, hes kind and gentle with the dogs, and so are the techs. I even love the receptionist (Melissa) and one of my dogs gets so excited when he sees her that he cries horribly until I let him visit with her, and that is a big bonus when so many dogs are afraid of all things vets office. :-) Three of my Chihuahuas are seniors with various health issues, and Im so grateful to have Dr. Shelton and his staff to help us through everything. He has even called me at home after hours to discuss questions I had about test results or possible upcoming treatments. I dont know what we would do without him.

We have had Dr. Shelton take care of our pets since he was in Plano, about 10+ years now. I would not trust my furry childrens life to anyone else. When I had to send my feline baby to heaven after 15 years, he and his staff were so gentle and sympathetic. Dr. Shelton was wonderful guiding my family, including my daughter who was 10 years old at the time and telling her about the process and what to expect as well as letting her be part of saying goodbye in a way she understood. His prices are the best around, and even tho I moved from Little Elm to Carrollton, I still make the long drive to McKinney because he and his staff are so awesome, and I know the quality of care is 100%. He is honest about what treatment is recommended, needed, and not needed. You can tell he and his staff are truly in the business because of their love for the animals and really do care about pet parents and families as well.

In my opinion, Dr. Shelton was uncaring and condescending toward me and prejudiced against certain breeds. I hired him as my vet because of the location of his office in proximity to my house. I never heard anything overly positive about him or his clinic from those who were familiar with him, but I believe in giving people a chance and with a sickly dog, location was of primary importance. In all fairness, his prices were in line with most of the other Vets in the area. That being said, in the three + years my sweet pup was a patient, Dr. Shelton never showed warmth, sincerity or gratitude. I always got the impression that he wished he was somewhere else when we visited and there was always some kind of internal "office drama" going on whenever we visited. Before you decide to try this Veterinarian, call beforehand to find out if Dr. Shelton likes and is comfortable with the breed of animal you have.

I have been taking my dog to Dr Shelton for around two years now and I could not be happier. He is gentle and patient. He explains things to me and he understands my pet’s needs. He listens to me when I try to give him information about my pet. I have a new addition to my family. I have a new puppy and she is 7 months old. She sustained some sort of injury or breed issue with her hind quarters. Dr Shelton was very kind and sympathetic of the pain she was in. He did what he could for her and had the knowledge to know when he needed to refer her out to a specialist. He has excellent prices and I feel he cares about you and your pet and not just the money thing. THe staff is very friendly and professional. I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

This is an excellent vet facility with friendly, courteous staff. We love, love, love Dr Means...& Dr Shelton isnt too shabby himself, lol. Courtney is my favorite Vet Tech because she just loves Popsy to death. From the 1st time that we visited with our very small undernourished rescue puppy, they have remembered her & her problems. Even If/when Ive had to call on the phone, as soon as I start to describe whats going on, Ill be asked if this is Popsys owner. They know their doggies for sure! We rescued another older long haired chihuahua, & they are just as equally loving towards our crotchety old man Pippins. Great experiences with a staff that makes it all easy peasy lemon squeezy!

We love Dr. Means. She was so kind to our 5 little cats, all being brought in as newcomers for their annual shots and check up. It was literally herding cats! But, she gave each one all her attention, checked them out and sent us on our way with a very affordable bill, not trying to run up all kinds of charges since their ages vary from 15 years to 3 years. We appreciated her kindness and concern. We also had one of our cats in for teeth problems about 6 months prior. Dr. Means was again very attentive, recommended cleaning. They did not discover any problems-- again appreciating their lack of interest in running up a big bill.

380 West came highly recommended by a couple of friends and a trainer. However my visit was not pleasant for me or my 11 wk old German Shepherd puppy. Im sure Dr. Shelton is a very good Vet, but just not for us. He incorporates a "dominance" theory with dogs with is very outdated. Dominance theory shouldnt be applied in dog/human relationships. "Dominating" a dog sets up an adversarial relationship. It sets up a relationship based on strength, power, and force. I do not want my dog in this type of environment. If this is your theory for your GSD, by all means, he is the Vet for you. Otherwise, seek elsewhere.
