Huh. Sorry to hear about the bad experience with Dr. Whetstone, cause I came on here to say shes my new vet. I liked my old vet, but she (Dr. Whetstone) was so much better. My hamster fractured her leg last night (fell from one foot up; shes an elderly dwarf hamster), and my usual vet wasnt in on Saturdays. So I got referred to another place, which also didnt have their exotic pet vet in, so I finally got referred to this place. I was a walk-in. Loads of dogs, cats, bunnies, birds waiting their turn to be seen. Dr. Whetstone was able to see my hamster in under half an hour. She did a thorough examination of her, and didnt even have to scruff her to do so. And my hamster cooperated fairly well. Normally she screams bloody murder when she gets scruffed. The Doc showed me how my hamsters tibia was fully fractured. She was able to fasten a tiny splint on her even (under some general anesthesia gas). And its supposedly hard to put such a small animal under anesthesia, but she was able to do it with no problems. And my hamster recovered quickly. Dr. Whetstone even noticed the little details like her ears having crud in them, so she gave me something for that. And she checked out her teeth and showed me why my hamster has been having such a hard time chewing lately. I already knew my hamster has a tumor on her belly, but she said it really felt like a benign tumor. My last vet said he could only guess. Then again, that was a month ago, maybe the tumor has only recently developed to the point of being able to tell. Either way, Dr. Whetstone was able to really put me at ease. Took care of everything. Even gave me the teeth trimming and the splint for free since I was already paying for anesthesia. The check-up was $53, the anesthesia procedure $40, and the Baytril was $11. Felt I really got my moneys worth relative to other vet visits at other places. And seems like everyone (staff) there that I met really gave a darn about animals of all sizes.

I am not a person who usually writes a review on a place, but on this place I felt the need! Dr. Blonien has the worst way of treating animals. Our dog has seizures and one night he started with one to finish out at 13. We first took him to the Animal Hospital off of Custer. They took great care of him. The next morning we went to Parker Animal Clinic. We started to tell Dr. Blonien about our dogs history. He asked if he was up to date on his shots. Which of course I admitted I was an irresponsible pet owner and no he was not. So Before he would go any further with our dog he automatically says I am going to treat him as if he has rabies. He wrote out a waiver and had my husband sign it. He said he would administer the seizure meds, but Lucius would go into quarantine and we would go from there. He showed no care with our dog who was on sedatives at the time. He grab the leash and started dragging him through the other door. Lucius ran into the table and the Dr still showed no sympathy! After 6 hours of waiting and us having to call the Dr back... He said we could come get him, because he had not had another seizure. When he called us back into the room he left the door open, and proceeded to tell us he still thinks our dog has rabies and if he bites anyone and they die it is our fault. He gave Lucius potassium bromide and phenobarbital. Hmmm is that not what you treat an epileptic dog with. He said he was cleansing out the toxins, but still rabies was at the top of his list. Our dog has not bit anyone nor has he been attacked. I also told the Dr. Blonien this and he said he hears that all the time! We are taking our dog today to another Vet. The girl on the phone was very positive and understanding! I do not recommend this clinic to anyone unless you fit the profile that is acceptable to them. My dog and my family were treated with unwarranted disrespect! Also this man apparently has no problem with letting dogs with "rabies" leave his establishment.

I am blown away at the advice Dr. Whetstone gave me regarding my sick budgie. My budgie has been ill for almost 3 weeks. I took her to see Dr. Whetstone and we started her on antibiotics thinking she had an infection. About a week later she still wasnt getting any better, so I phoned Dr. Whetstone. Told her I believed it was more of a fungal issue than a bacterial infection. Because she was having a hard time digesting her seed. And usually fungus can cause that problem. So she prescribed an antifungal med. After a week on the antifungal she wasnt getting any better but not any worse, so I called Dr. Whetstone back to see if we could switch her to a stronger antifungal med that I was told about. She said she didnt prescribe that med due to too many side effects. But then she went on to say that I needed to remove all seed and start her on a pellet diet. Okay, stop right there. So Dr. Whetstone wants me to switch my sick budgie to an all pellet diet. A sick bird that is losing weight through her illness, barely digesting any seed as is. Just so everyone knows, it takes time to switch birds over to an all pellet diet. And in some cases, some die because they refuse to eat the pellets. Its a very hard process to switch a healthy bird over, can you imagine trying to do this when your bird is sick. They would most certainly die due to starvation. Now, Dr. Whetstone being an avian vet should know this. But for some reason doesnt know or doesnt care. And honestly, how would switching her over solve her problem that she has right now. Switching her over to pellets is a long term solution. Doesnt solve the issue we are having at the moment. If I was a new bird owner and didnt know any better, Dr. Whetstone would have killed my budgie. She would have starved almost immediately. I question her qualifications as an avian vet. And you should too if go to Parker Animal and Bird Clinic.

Im not really sure which vet saw us. It was a middle aged man who was rather in a hurry. I brought in a stray that I found off the street and the vet saw us after a wait, but was rather rushed and impatient. We got the full vaccinations and he removed a few ticks, but didnt check fully and we found that he later missed a few. The dogs teats were rather swollen, but he didnt even mention that she might be pregnant. I had to bring it up and he completely dismissed me, saying that they couldnt tell unless it was after the first 45 days, so I decided to wait a few weeks. Well, after 2 weeks, I got nervous and took her into another animal hospital who confirmed without a doubt that my dog was not only pregnant, but could give birth at any time. If the initial vet had inspected her stomach at all or had even suggested doing a quick ultrasound (the other hospital did it in 10 minutes and didnt even tell me), I wouldnt be in the situation. My dog could have gotten a spaying and abortion and the pups wouldnt have developed this far. Now, Im here, a good samaritan with a very pregnant dog who could go into labor at any time, and no way to care for a litter of puppies and a very expensive hospital bill on my hands that couldve been easily reduced if the vet here had been slightly less rushed and taken better care of us. I seriously suggest the VCA animal hospital on George Bush. Not only was the vet there both kind and patient, she also convinced the vets there to reduce my hospital bill by more than $500 and walked me through all the options and aftercare procedures before we decided.
