Clueless, Thick and Callous. It must hurt to be that stupid. I went to Northwest Eye for new glasses. First of all, the receptionist is living in her own private Idaho. She thought it was strange that I brought in the papers from the insurance company, along with the insurance card. She laughed and shrieked, “Haha, your whole mailbox!” No, insurance papers. That was disturbing as well as extremely rude. That was enough to tell me the receptionist is unbalanced. Bad Customer Service: In addition to the living in her own world receptionist, there was another woman in the glasses section, middle aged, overweight. You know the type. An elderly man came in and asked about glasses. She talked to him very loudly in simple sentences like he was retarded. It was demeaning. He deserves to be treated with respect. Eye Exam: This was with Frances, a little Asian woman. She was super nice, she answered all my questions, she was very capable and she didn’t seem to mind that I like to talk. She’s an intern, which means when she finishes the internship, she’ll go somewhere else. I trust she’ll be working with nice people in a pleasant neighborhood. Crash: So after the exam, I went to pick out a pair of glasses. THEN, after the exam was done, the receptionist tells me I can’t get glasses there because the insurance doesn’t cover it! I told her, “I came here to get a pair of glasses! This little card doesn’t do me any good! If I have to go somewhere else to get glasses, I want to go there to get the eye exam!” Then the middle aged woman joined in. Surprisingly, she was even denser and more clueless than the receptionist. She had absolutely zero emotional intelligence, less than zero. She couldn’t even understand why I was upset. I went round and round with them; it was utterly pointless. Neither one of them had the slightest bit of empathy or any ability to see a situation outside of their incredibly narrow, self-absorbed points of view. They certainly don’t have what it takes to do proper customer service. They don’t even have what it takes to be part of polite, adult society. Even worse, because I was upset that they outright lied and never had any intention of producing a pair of glasses for me, the fat, stupid, self-absorbed, middle aged woman (Oh wait, except for the intern, that describes everyone who works there. It was the woman who insulted the elderly man.) threatened to call the police! Now how is being upset at the staff for lying to me grounds for calling the police? I said, "Go ahead! Ill tell them the same thing I told you, but theyll understand what Im saying." She didnt do anything, except to continue looking extremely stupid. I did call the insurance company. Later I filed a complaint with the insurance company and asked them to remove Northwest Eye Care from the list of companies they work with, but it didnt do any good. A few weeks ago, I called the optometry shop by the Saint Anthony Library. The woman said they could do the eye exam but I would have to go somewhere else to get the actual glasses. That is how it is supposed to work. When you can’t do what the customer wants, you tell the customer. I called the insurance company and lodged a complaint. The clerk gave me the telephone numbers and addresses of two other agencies that I can lodge a complaint with. To quote Danny from The Gradual Report, “Final summation.” Just avoid Northwest Eye Clinic. The so called customer service is below horrible. If you have a problem, they don’t care. They want their payment and that’s the end of the story. The concept of caring about the customer is completely beyond their tiny radar screens. There are two other places Ive gone for glasses. One is Pearle Vision on Ford Parkway in Saint Paul. They were just average. The other was Health Partners on Como Avenue in Saint Anthony Park. They were excellent! Everyone was very nice and knowledgeable. They were just as helpful as could be. If youre insurance works, I recommend going there.

I felt cared for by the first person who pre-screened me, took my info, etc. as I was a new patient. She was excellent. Later, my provider made me feel like my eye injury did not warrant a visit. The exam felt rushed and I felt uncomfortable. Perhaps he thought he was just doing his job, but his lack of empathy made him seem cold which is not exactly what Im looking for from a care provider. Id also like to note that it was inconsiderate to dilate my eyes and then send me back out to the lobby where there were tons of windows and sunlight. I felt nauseated and had a headache because of that. In that 15 minutes in the lobby again, a new patient walked in and the receptionist coldly said, "Whats the name." - no hello, no eye contact, no smile - she couldnt even say "your name" instead of "the name"?! There was an overall and overwhelming bad sense of care for a company thats a care provider. I will not be returning here, or to any NW Eye Clinic, nor would I recommend this place to anyone who needs an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

Ive had a lot of bad experiences at the eye doctor. Even though Im young my eye sight is rather poor. Ive had doctors (more than one!) say things like, "wow!!! Your eye sight is really bad!" And "youre blind as a bat!" Because of this, and constantly getting bad news eye doctor visits are especially stressful for me. Ive been going to Northwest Eye for 3 years and Ive never had a bad experience. Dr. Peterson is the best eye doctor Ive ever had (and Ive seen a lot of them). Hes kind, professional and has even given me options for my eye health care. It felt like he was a partner with me, and that made me feel a lot better. Thanks Northwest Eye.

In the past year this clinic has so greatly improved my vision. I deal with both strabismus (lazy eye) and sagging corneas. Ive often had to use more than one clinic to deal with my vision challenges, but I dont any more. Northwest Eye does all of it. A year ago, I had surgery for the lazy eye, with a great result. I also have been fitted with glasses that allow me to not have to wear contacts (for the first time in 20 years!) for good vision. No one has achieved this for me in my recent past. Im very grateful for the competent, personal care!

I have been a patient at the St Anthony Northwest Eye Clinic for three years. My family also gets their eye care at that location. I was there this morning, and the care I received from the receptionist to Ann (the assistant) to Dr Peterson, was excellent. Well be back!

I had a great experience here. I got to the clinic 20 minutes early and was checked in and got to an appointment room 10 minutes early. The process was quick, easy, and informative.
