As one of the owners of Red Bridge Winding River Pet Village I would like to address a couple of the posts. First, about the $75 charge for grooming. We did a bath and neatening when it was supposed to be a full haircut. We did not charge for the grooming at all, the $75 was for the boarding and grooming was free. The next time the pet came in we charged half price because of our mistake. Next, about the loss of a pet. It is never an easy thing when you lose a pet, especially when it is in someone elses care. Unfortunately in this business it will happen, not often but it does. There are never enough words to comfort an owner for their loss. We take care of every pet as if they are our own and if a health issue arises we take care of it immediately. In this situation an emergency tech was on site and a vet was here in 10 minutes. Nobody can be sure why this pet passed, which is why we went to KU for an autopsy. We do this for a living because animals are our life and we truly love them. We do whatever we can to care of them when you are away.

Incompetent at best, a danger to your animal at worst. Weve been taking our dogs here for the past few months until a recent indecent. After bringing home our dog from boarding over the weekend, we noticed she was walking funny and had a bulging and what looked to be a distended stomach. Alarmed, we phoned Red Bridge. They assured us that she had not overeaten and that if she wasnt interested in food we should take her to the emergency vet. Indeed she wasnt interested in food so we had her xrayed....300 dollars later the vet tells us its a case of overeating. Red Bridges response over and over, "I dont know what happened, I wasnt there." Funny because it was crystal clear to me and the vet. When I pressed them to take responsibility and just apologize for the incident they refused and told me I should "Pay the vet bill and be happy, because your dog is going to be ok." Quite a set for someone who cant own up to their mistakes. Stay away.

Our dog died from presumed heat exhaustion (according to autopsy results) while being kenneled at Winding River Pet Resort in Kansas City, MO. We know no details that led to her overheating and we have been provided no additional information other than the procedures that were done after she was already found with a 106 temperature. Not knowing any information or being offered little to no empathy has been torture. I believe the employees at WR did not intentionally kill out beloved pet, but unfortunately, neglect certainly occurred, we just dont know how and probably never will. We hope they can take better training to recognize signs of stress and heat exhaustion before this happened to another pet.

I learned about Winding River and Dr. Hecker about four years ago when my dog become very ill and my normal vet and emergency clinic took 5 days to diagnose. My coworkers referred Dr. Hecker and he called me on my cell after hours to review the lab results with me. He had me bring my pup in for surgery the next morning and didnt take advantage of me by overcharging. The emergency clinic wanted 3X the price to do the same procedure. Both Dr. Hecker and the techs are wonderful with our dogs - even the little one that gets an attitude. Honest - friendly - they love what they do! Thank you for taking such great care of them over the years. Ive moved 45 minutes away and still make the drive!

I love these guys so much! They truely have a passion for what thier doing and a great love and compassion for the animals that they care for. Their boarding and day-care gives the dogs freedom to roam. They groom my dog exceptionally well but what touches me the most about this place and these guys is their involvement in animal rescue and how they go above and beyond to assist and accomodate thier elderly clients both the dogs and thier owners even aiding in transport when an elderly owner is sick or unable to drive. I am greatful to have found this place in 09 and I would make the trek out to thier shop no matter what part of kc I lived in.

We have used this kennel for a couple years and recently have had issues since the switch over that they merged with Red Bridge. Took our dog in and both during reservation and drop off gave instructions to have our dog shaved down and she wasnt yet we were still charged 75.00 for a grooming which was a bath and having her paws trimmed. The staff said they would call yet I had to follow up. They said they must have called the wrong number yet had called me on multiple other occasions so I dont believe that. Take your business elsewhere.

We take our standard poodle here for doggie daycare, boarding and grooming. They do a fantastic job with all three, which is why we drive past a number of other options to keep using them. The thing I like most about them is their overall love of animals. While my poodles grooming is fantastic and she absolutely loves playing here, all of that doesnt compare to the fact that I know theyll take great care of her because they love her almost as much as I do.

The owners Jay, Becky & Heather have been caring for my pet family for over 20 years! My dogs get so excited to go play with their doggy friends and the staff, then come home happy and exhausted! They hire great people and provide a safe, loving environment. Their grooming is always professional -- and they groom my kitties, too. Highest recommendation to them!

Ive known the Owners for almost twenty years and they are just terrific people and REAL animal lovers. Hundreds of rescue dogs (and cats) have come thru their doors, on their way to good homes! They help sponsor Doghousing Inc as well as other organizations. The "Walk the Walk!!

We bring our dog Howard to get groomed here. He loves it. As soon as we pull into their driveway, Howard starts wagging his tail. He loves all of his human and dog friends there!
