I had the worst experience of my life with Dr. Merkin. I am experiencing exteme back pain and just wanted relief. I was told I was only there to get narcotics. I felt dirty and used when I left. I came for help and was made to feel very small. I have tramadol and vicodien, and I do NOT take either one. I DO NOT like medications. I thought there would be a arthritis medication that would help because the muscle relaxers are not. I have never went to a doctor for DRUGS and he said that is why I went to the ER on Saturday, I went to ease my intense pain so that I can function and take care of my mother. I will be seeking a second opinion as I NEVER want to feel this way again. I think Merkin has alot of experience with surgeries and is good at that. However his bedside manner and empathy sucks.

Worst experience ever!! Had a scope done 10/20/16 on my knee. It was my 3rd surgery and this Dr came recommended. Ive never experienced so much pain before. When I tried and explained my pain both the staff and the Dr refused to listen to me. I went to urgent care because I couldnt handle the pain. They did an x-ray and found bone fragments. Dropped off the films and the Dr said its nothing to worry about. He wont listen to me. Hes rude and rushed and his staff is unhelpful. Im stuck in his care for what they call a 90 day global period and cant get a 2nd opinion. I will never recommend this Dr. Im in worse shape after surgery then I was before surgery no thanks to this hack. Do not come to this Dr.

I LOVE this Doctor!!! I searched endlessly for a back surgeon that could help my mother who has chronic back pain, several bulging discs, and a myriad of other health problems. I was nervous about meeting him as his reviews were not supportive but he met with us and I was pleasantly surprised. He was straight to the point and didnt dress up the facts but he accepted her case. From that moment on him and his lovely staff, especially Mary, were exceptionally kind and accommodating. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Mirkin for giving my mother a second chance at life. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend him. He is a terrific surgeon and his work is absolutely impeccable!!! Best St. Louis back surgeon hands down!!

I had a minor surgery on back because of a slip and fall at work. it was a work comp case and he is the insurance companies dr I had to see and even with my DRs suggestion is to fuse one disc and to replace one to.But instead of him agreeing with Dr.Gornet who is a great person and even better surgeon. Dr Mirkin is sending me back to work to worsen my injury. What kind of Dr want to worsen a persons injury? All thats right ones who get paid off by work comp companies. So please to everyone searching for a back Dr he not it I highly recommend Dr Matthew Gornet.

Dr. Mirkin is a great Orthopedic Surgeon in St. Louis. He has a fellowship in the spine and can treat other areas as well. He is extremely sharp. Great doctor and great person. Loved by patients and well respected by other doctors as one of the best. He has treated my neck, back, shoulders and knees. I have referred my mother, brother, 2 sisters and numerous other relatives to him. Everyone called and said they appreciated the referral that he was great. I trust this doctor!

Rude, dismissive, terrible bedside manner. I wish I had read the reviews on this doctor before I made the mistake of choosing him. First visit based on x-rays only he dismissed my issue as arthritis only to discover much later that I have a degenerative disk condition with multiple bulging disks. I am getting surgery but it will be done by someone that actually listens to his patients.

Slow golf cap for a medical profession mocking the way my handicapped mother walks and fyi this will be reported to ethic committees. You are a poor example of a medical professional that will STEAL MRI films. I feel that maybe you should learn to be better medical profession or retire to administration.

My experience with Dr. Merkin was wonderful, He solved my horrible sciatic nerve pain and did so many other procedures during my spine surgery. My pain is gone and I feel like a new person again! He is a very good surgeon and I would go back to see him if anything comes up again.Thank you Dr. Mirkin.

I was in extreme pain and not your typical back surgery candidate. Young skinny and short. He believed I was in pain. The day after surgery I never took pain medicine again. Three years later still great just sent my mom to him for surgery.

Best Spine Doctor in St Louis if you have a herniated disc or disk protrusion. Not everyone is a candidate for surgery and this is upsetting to hear. Doctor Mirkin will be straight with you. Thanks for all your help!

He did nothing for me and he didnt want to help me. I will not go back to this doctor and he was rude to me in his own way,,, Trying to get him to help me and hese trying to walk out of the room, WHAT THE HELL.
