Went to Animal General for the first time today. Read the reviews on google and other sites and thats why i decided to go. Let me tell you it was the BEST experience Ive EVER had at a vet. The staff is very friendly, the office is very clean and well maintained and every animal is treated with love. My cat had a cyst on his hip the size of a golf ball after getting into an altercation with another cat. Doctor Tierney cleaned the puss out of the cyst, washed the wound and prescribed him meds for recovery. I had a bunch of questions related to the cats treatment and about the benefits of neutering which i havent done on my cat yet. Dr.Tierney spent at least a good 20mins just answering my questions in detail. He is by far the nicest vet Ive ever dealt with. Good bless him. Also the prices are soooo much more reasonable than anywhere else Ive been. Ive taken my cat to another vet in Ridgefield and it was for the same kind of incident. That trip ended up costing me $270! Today i only paid $135, meds included!!!! I will ALWAYS be going to Animal General for my pets needs and refer all friends and family. Thank you guys for making my experience so wonderful ! :)

Not sure how to tell my story but I had a cat Millie who was 15 plus years old and was dieing. I phone animal general that day to as about a crematory in the area. Then I phone back to see if they had any open appointments that day. Then I phone back asking to make an appointment at 2:30pm I think it was about 2:10 when I showed up with a almost dead cat in my arms crying as i walked into Animal General. It just so happen that Dr. May was at the desk on the outside and as I walked in she grabbed Millie and ran to the rear as I fallowed we went to the end room where they started to try to put a breathing tube down her throat. That is when I said I had a 2:30 appointment to have her euthanize, she has been sick and she was over 15 years old. At that point the gave her oxygen to breath better and then put her to rest peacefully. I am 58 and had have animals all of my life, and in the short time I got to know Dr. May I would say she is GREAT on how she handle my problem that day. She was GREAT! THANK YOU DR. MAY

I would recommend Animal General to anyone looking for a place to bring their pet. For years my older cat, Seth, was having some issues and Dr. May always answered our questions thoroughly, compassionately and definitely had Seths best interest in mind. She also always gave us the most cost effective way to care for him without sacrificing the outcome. We never once felt like we were spending more than we should have since he was getting excellent care. When it came time to put him down, it happened suddenly and Dr. Tierney (who we had seen for my younger cat before) made himself available and they waited to close for us to come in. Dr. May even gave us a personal phone call the next day to check up on us. From the very first time we went there to years later where we still go, I am so thankful we found this caring group of people to trust with our pets.Thank you for everything you do and for always going above and beyond!

In early 2015 my four year old dog had a seizure. It was scary as we had never experienced anything like this before. For years we used a local vet where we had some negative experiences. Because this was so serious, we took the recommendation of a friend to use Animal General. AG gave us an immediate appointment. The office staff is friendly and the facility is very clean. Dr. Herzog spent over an hour with us, explaining the possibilities and giving us different treatment options. Animal General then continued to follow up with us post visit. Dr. Herzog even went far out of her way to research where we could get the best medication for our dog at the best price. My dogs are like my children and it was such a relief to have someone else care about their well being as much as I do when a serious medical event takes place. I recommend Animal General 100%.

My wife brought our beloved Siamese Isabel to see Dr. Tierney- where we found out that she had a spindle cell tumor. He recommended a surgeon- and 5 days post surgery later we are hopeful that with appropriate follow up care to compliment this she will be happy and cancer free. Dr. Tierney is so kind and compassionate. He found us a top surgeon and gave us several recommendations. Dr Tierney went in great detail over the operative report and has been a reassuring presence. According to my wife, hes a saint in vets clothing. He follows up with his patients care and calls you! They faxed over their records and their office staff is efficient and helps us submit our insurance bills. We can not recommend Dr. Tierney or Animal general enough.

I took my dog here for an emergency visit when she was unable to keep food in (from either end). Even though my dog was not a previous patient, they were able to accommodate us, and gave a high level of care to my dog. I live in West New York, so while maybe in comparison to Hoboken the prices are cheaper, but in comparing these prices to North Bergen theyre a little high. The office visit was about $20-25 more than my local vet. However, despite this, I feel like I got the right care for the money, so I dont mind the marginal premium. All in all, I would definitely recommend.

Were so happy we decided to take our pets to Animal General! We brought our recently adopted lab mix in for a check up and saw Dr. Tierney, who was absolutely wonderful. He didnt rush us, was extremely thorough and answered all of our questions, even the ones we didnt know we should ask! Weve had a few questions since our visit and we never hesitate to call. The staff is very warm and personable, and they never make us feel like a nuisance. Plus, the prices here seem very fair and much cheaper than vets in Hoboken.

Weve been taking Dusty (terrier) to Animal General since we adopted him June 2013. It has always been a very pleasant experience. The staff is very caring and thorough. I always leave confident that I got the best care for my four-legged friend. Once I brought in my family dog for a neck injury and they were just as caring for him as a first time patient. They were kind enough to review photos and videos even during late hours and gave us great feedback. I highly recommend Animal General!

I really enjoy this vet office. Dr. Herzog was amazing with our dogs, the vet techs were also extremely pleasant and great with our little ones. The only complaint I would venture would be that the waiting room is rather small, it was only an issue for us because our dogs arent the best with other dogs so we chose to wait outside to avoid unnecessary quarrels. But the vet is great and we will definitely be using them from now on!
