Awful! Far cry from the wonderful, caring place it was when Cheryl Welch opened. Unfriendly staff, dishonest, rip-off. They DROPPED a friends dog during a routine surgery and left her paralyzed. They refused to explain their error and what exactly occurred. They botched my dogs eye surgery; another routine surgery they promised they were qualified and comfortable to perform while claiming a specialist would charge more. Ended up at the specialist anyway to correct FLAHs mistakes. They offer pet sitting services - BEWARE!!!! Their vet tech almost killed my sisters dog while my family was away for a wedding. Half of the family had to miss the wedding and come home because we were told the dog was not going to live through the night. A week in Oradell animal hospital, surgery and a $14,000 bill later, she is alive but has never been the same. They charged me $82 for a small bag of supplements for my dog when they should have charged $55. When I called to point out their error they refused to correct the overcharge and I am now in the process of going through disputing it with my bank. This place has turned into an absolute disgrace. Please, if you care for your pet’s well-being, DO NOT bring them here. Plenty of other honest, reasonably priced, qualified vets in the area.

Update: Finally spoke with the vet, she offered a reasonable explanation and was very professional but I would still tread with caution. Avoid this place at all cost! We took our beloved lovebird to this place a few days ago and the aviary vet (Onesios) assured us that although our bird looked sick he was really okay (just a change of diet and that should be it - did not prescribe any medications). The very next day our lovebird died. The immense amount of anger and confusion we felt towards this irresposible hospital & their misdiagnosis is something we will never forgive. To make matters worse, the negligence has yet to be recognized. We were promised a call back and have yet to hear from the doctor or her staff, they are much too "busy" for that. Please do not bring your pets here, the pain we felt after this whole ordeal is a pain we hope no other pet owner endures.

I have been trusting Franklin Lakes animal hospital for over 10 years to care for my dog. He was diagnosed recently with bladder stones. He had this previously and I knew that I had to make a timely decision as to how to proceed (either surgery or putting him down). I chose surgery, but was told I would have to wait 11 to 15 days for an appointment because they were soooooo busy with Doggie Dental month and had no time to do the surgery. I cant even wrap my head around this! I called another local hospital and they were accommodating and the Dr. worked late to do the surgery. The other thing I noticed is that the staff was friendly, warm and compassionate.....not something Ive been feeling at your place! My dog was also much calmer and different with the technicians and the Doctor. Sorry, when dental month trumps a sick dog, something is wrong!!

Came here only to put my almost-22 year old cat to sleep - and the rush was on... First time here - and dont think I didnt notice you were rushing me out at such an important moment, Doctor? You really wanted to get out at 4pm on that Saturday - hot date? The soft baby-talk was not comforting but quite insulting. And your cold assistant got me quite awestruck at being asked to pay for the bill before actually doing your services!!! - like Id be running for the door without paying if I didnt pay now, as she kept insisting... later the cashier telling me how some people are "too emotional to pay the bill later" - really? This wasnt my first rodeo (or animal hospital), but the pressure both to leave and to pay was uncalled for...ESPECIALLY during an emotional time.... Never coming back - any pet (and their owner) deserves better !!!!

FLAH is a top notch veterinary practice with doctors who genuinely care about their patients. I have been a pet parent for many years and want only the best for my babies. I have found the doctors at FLAH to be excellent diagnosticians, taking the time to carefully examine and even research their findings at any given visit. It is a given that I am willing to spend whatever necessary for my babies yet the doctors do not take advantage of this fact and always start with a conservative approach, while always keeping their patients well being at the forefront. If you want the best care for your babies, who as we all know are part of the family, this is where you will go, even if it means traveling further than you may have initially wanted to travel. Im not able to comment on their procedures with regular pets but I highly recommend finding somewhere else to bring rescued wildlife. I was suckered into bringing in a 6 week old squirrel that I rescued so he could be given antibiotics to cure his pneumonia. I had to surrender the squirrel, to which I thought it would be given immediate care. They didnt treat the squirrel from the time I brought it in (9:30am) till it died. 7:00pm) They said they did not have time to treat him. 9.5 hours wasnt enough? Who knows if they even fed him. Thanks for nothing.

We have had nothing but the best of experiences with FLAM. We heard great things about them when we were first referred by friends. They are genuinely caring and their fees for service are fair. They recently coached us through rescuing a litter of stray kittens by introducing us to a rescue organization that provided all the shots for the kittens and is offering to trap, spay and neuter the parents, all for no charge! Life is good at FLAM.

I used to hear fantastic things about this place. Apparently not any more under the new ownership! I called because my dog had swallowed a small toy. I gave her hydrogen peroxide to bring it up. It didnt work so I called them.. Their response was they couldnt because I had given her hydrogen peroxide. We brought her to Oradell, who had no problem with the hydrogen, and they induced her to vomit. Dont waste your time here.

Best animal hospital! Our pets have been going to FLAH for over 10 years and we always get nothing but the best service and care. The doctors and staff are all wonderful with our pets. We were very scared recently when we found out our 13 yr old dog was sick. We knew she was in the best of hands though. Im happy to report she has made an amazing recovery and its all because of FLAH.

I was recommended by two coworkers and they told me my 30 min drive would be worth it, and let me tell you, it definitely was. Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital has such an amazing staff and Dr. Stoltze was sooooooooooooooo good. They make you feel so welcome and warm. My first visit there has left me so happy knowing our little Grey will be in the greatest of hands. thank you!

Correct me if I am wrong but I dont think that a baby bird full of energy could have died in a 5 hours in the hospital while we kept him for 2 days alive. Those bastards probably didnt even care for the bird since it cost them too much money. Could have just told me and I would have brought him to a rehabilitation center directly. Please keep away from this place.
